Albatross For Twitter

Unable to display threads, which should be a basic feature. No replies from the original tweeter are displayed when looking at a tweet in a thread. Have to go to their profile and read each individual tweet. Almost useless but not quite. No ads, so it keeps a star.

A good client for twitter because its free and no ads. Ui is a little clunky and there are no notifications for messages or mentions, you have to go into a menu and manually enter those sections to read them. edit: after months of use I have found it makes my screen go black after i post and i have to hit the home button several times to get out of it. It also looses connection to Twitter servers after browsing 30 - 50 posts and i start getting errors that posts failed to load.

Downloaded this to view and save a copy of my Twitter bookmarks but under saved tweets, there's nothing. Also then i decided to use to save Twitter threads that Twitter cant saved easily but I was wrong, it cant save that too either in form of image or PDF so as to read them later offline. Notifications are missing. Channels or accounts that i view mostly in my Twitter app aren't on top or in recent feed, only news channels. Please improve. Very outdated and not subpar as what Twitter is now. 👎

I got this because I don't want ads in my feed. The design is nice, but there are a few things causing me problems. The sidebar constantly pops out when I scroll with my left hand. It takes anywhere from 2 -5 minutes to refresh my feed upon opening, which is FOREVER in internet time. And about 60% of the time, there's a huge time gap once it does - I'm not getting my whole feed. There's hours of tweets on the Twitter app that aren't here. That last one might be the last straw.

This app initially was a great alternative to the Twitter app. But I don't know what's going on... nothing seems to be working right anymore? When I search for stuff it doesn't show up... what I try to load a profile it won't show their tweets... pages won't scroll. I don't get what's going on. I would love help if they can offer it.

Still doing the below, PLUS takes FOREVER to load TL on open. DELETING FOR SIX MONTHS, will just use Twitter app for now. ... Jan 2022 review: Latest update Quote Tweeted text gets frozen onto the screen as if it's an image ehen I click the quoted tweet. (not that an image should do that either). Have to close app to get it to clear.

Still searching for a replacement for flamingo but nothing works as well as an abandoned app from years ago. On first launch, this one has a broken hamburger menu and all of the sidebar text was white in light grey. Not ready for prime time.

Pretty good overall, lots of customization options and gets rid of a lot of clutter compared to the twitter android app. Two things I'd really like to see: 1. ability to disable pull-to-refresh on the home timeline 2. instead of or in addition to swiping up to view tweets on a person's profile, view tweets by tapping on the bottom bar buttons

Managed to log in properly, but the app is still very lacking and buggy. Navigation menu kept disappearing, buttons in weird places, no real options to change it and just overall a bad experience and ui design. Design feels like it's from the mid 2010s. Can't understand why this app was number 1 recommended Twitter client.

Overall great attempt at making a twitter app, I know how hard mobile development can be. Good things: No ads Customisable ui themes Lots of settings Bad things: When clicking on your followers/followed users, the buttons are not clear what status they are at first glance and whether you follow them is often incorrect The back button in your profile randomly stops working. Cannot remove the circle wipe animation when opening images Loading takes a long time, much longer than the native app

Not sure what happened, but sometime in the last 1-2 weeks tweets stopped refreshing for me (refresh just hangs). Had to switch to a different client.

Have been informed that the notification thing is Twitter's own doing and is out of the dev's control, so I understand. In that case, I'd just like support for more than one multiple account, but if that's also a Twitter issue, I understand completely.

Only issue is I can't use more than 1 Twitter account (when I try to add a second it prompts me to authorize the account I already have loaded and then removes the both leaving behind @null as the profile).

Great so far but one problem I am having is that I can't view photos when I'm in landscape mode on my Fire HD 10(11th gen). If I rotate to portrait I can see them fine. Any help would be appreciated as well as an amended review if there is a fix.

Good app but... if you click on the widget it always loads a plain black page that only has 2 lines and the text relivent people on it.

Edited my review and dropped it to 2 stars. Why does the V2 API not show any graphics, links, or retweets of a tweet when someone retweets it? I turned off the new API and then they show up again. Not seeing those things only gives you half of the post. Still want to really like this app since it seems to be better than the official app, if only it'd work a little better. Also a little slow to load replies when using the V2 API.

Pretty solid replacement for the Twitter app. I had an issue with the app and the developer promptly replied that they were aware of the issue and that it would be fixed, and true to their word, it was. Great support, great app.

I have to update my review to zero stars. Now you can't even see the replies to ANY tweet. It's completely useless. Previous 3* The app is almost good, but it has many quirks. 1: the DM are simply unaligned, and I've to refresh many times to see the updates 2: I can insert a gif from the keyboard only on a new tweet / quote, not on replies 3: when I reply to a reply, the @name gets doubled At least it doesn't have ads

Kudos to the developer! By far the best third party Twitter app I have used. Just one small question, does it have quick back to top gesture? I find it hard to scroll up to my lastest tweets. Quick Back to Top would be perfect!

Keep crashing ... crashing... add to annoyingly slow start, refresh, move from tab to another, search, moreover delay reaction to dive into tweet details. App keep crashing even after latest update feww minutes ago!!! Bad experience.

This app is close to good, but it is missing features such as threads and relevant trends.

It's an app that shows a lot of promise, though there are some things missing from the original Twitter app that have me switch between the two pretty often. I follow accounts in many languages, and the translate tweet button (although not perfect) lets me understand Spanish, French, German, etc., tweets right there in the app. Instead for Albatross, I have to jump to Google Translate's website to then have to go back to Albatross, and do it again and again for other tweets. I'd rate 3-4 stars.

Either it's using it's own version of WebView or there's a bug preventing JavaScript, because I can't login.

Lacks widget image previews, Tweet drafts or any form of Widget customization (which is sorely needed as their UI is ugly)

Love this app so much! The only thing I would love even more is cross account retweets and likes if you have more than one account!

It's getting there. Issues with threads seem to have cleared up today as he indicated would happen. Still seems a bit laggy compared to something like Flamingo, but Albatross is also the only 3rd party app that is using the new Twitter API, so expect growing pains. It allows you to see who liked tweets, polls so that is the tradeoff.

Slow: freezes my phone for 1-2 seconds when opening. Doesn't display threads.

Weird issue where looking at a profile shows a tweet as a few weeks old when it's from over 4 years ago.
