Alberta Discover Guide

Discover Alberta’s Wild Side

Weekend blahs? Want to get the kids out of the house? Need some downtime away from it all?
Or looking to bring dinner home from the field or stream rather than a grocery store? Alberta
Conservation Association’s Outdoor Adventure Guide has all the reasons you need to get
outside and explore Alberta’s great outdoors all year long. Whether you like hunting, angling,
photography, hiking, berry picking, bird watching, or are just looking for an easy weekend
getaway, the Guide brings you more than 750 uniquely wild conservation sites covering a
quarter million acres across Alberta that you can access for FREE—making this the most
comprehensive outdoor recreation guide around.

The Guide app easily takes you from your backdoor to hundreds of great outdoor recreation
sites across Alberta’s big backyard. Read property profiles, pinpoint locations and find important
site updates—all from the palm of your hand. Get the app, get out
and get exploring!

App features:
• Property profiles and activities at more than 750 conservation sites across Alberta
• Search the conservation site database with only a few key words
• Receive free notifications on site updates, fish stocking dates and other events
• Proximity search sites from your location
• Proximity search from city, town or conservation site

The fine print
Check the Guide carefully before planning your trip. Please ensure you consult a county or
municipal landowner map to verify the location of the conservation site and double check that
you are entering onto the appropriate property.

While there is no fee to access these conservation sites, all we ask is that you value and respect
the land as much as we do. The conservation sites identified in this guide are either private
lands owned by Alberta Conservation Association or our conservation partners (see the
Partners listed for each site), or public lands that are managed by Alberta Conservation
Association on behalf of the Crown; all are available for public use.

A majority of conservation sites in the guide require no permission to access and allow only
non-motorized recreational activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bird watching and
photography. However, please be aware that some of the conservation sites listed do have
restrictions on permitted activities or require permission before you enter onto the site.

For more information visit our website at www.ab-conservation.com.

Thank you to our partners
This guide was made possible through the support of our conservation partners and Corporate
Partners in Conservation who aid in the securement of private land and the enhancement of
public land for conservation and recreational opportunities. Several properties featured here
have also been generously donated to Alberta Conservation Association by private landowners
across Alberta, an enduring legacy for which generations of Albertans will be thankful. We
would like to thank the Alberta Fish & Game Association and its affiliated clubs as well as Ducks
Unlimited Canada for including a number of their conservation sites in this guide.

Without this app most Albertans wouldn't have a clue how many great public spaces are right in their neighborhood. In an era where no trespassing signs are more common than wildlife access to outdoor public spaces is more important than ever. For that fact alone I give this 5 stars.

It would be helpful if the site # listed in the PDF version of the guide was visible in both description and on the grid view map, instead of crosshairs. Also, if the grid view worked at least in basic capacity in offline mode.

Well. It says conservation maps has not been loaded make sure you are connected to the internet or close and reopen app. Nothing works thus 2 star for effort.

looks good. can you add specific search for stocked locations? i can do it sort of with the conservation areas search, but I think I'm missing some non conservation sites that are stocked as well.

Access is key to the future of hunting in canadian culture, thanks for an excellent resource!

Comfortably shows the crown land areas nearby. Exactly what I needed. Didn't find any issues with the ads as described by other users. Great app. Thanks.

Just like another person posted I cannot view anything with the exceptionof the adds. Would be nice if it worked but it doesnt at least on my machine

10/14/17 still no updates, no response to concerns, anything? These are big fixes. Just want a save feature Would be nice if you could favorite sites and save for another time. Also would be nice if after searching and viewing, that when you go back to search results it didn't reset each time. Bit of pain when searching 500 sites and it keeps going back to beginning. 9/03/17 - very agitating when the grid wont work. Would be nice to see updates, maybe adressing our concerns. No saving of sites No search history Very micky mouse app

Typed in my city to find anything to do and it showed up with zero results... changes the distance a couple time and still zero results

Ted. L. Apr 1, 2017

I couldn't get a single search result regardless of what I entered. Then I tried using the grid D3 and it placed my on Google maps just east of Australia in the middle of the ocean. I gave permission for the app to access my location. Piece of crap

The worst. Didn't work at all. The website was great. Too bad this app didn't function in the least.

Current version does not work at all.

The idea is great, but the app is currently quite cumbersome and annoying to use. 1. After you select a spot to see more information, and you go back to the main grid view, the map is totally zoomed out, and you have to find your spot again. 2. It does not show you where you are. 3. There are no options to save favourite spots etc - overall it is just kind of annoying to use.

Great app showing where you can hunt on small local patches of land. The only thing I dont like is most of the land has fire regulations on them, and no camping... Mostly day use. But that has nothing to do with the app, and im greatful I dont have to drive hours to crown land.

Fuz. G. Sep 15, 2016

Tells you where is crown land near you and how to get to it

Ric. R. Apr 3, 2017

Absolutely useless. No other words for it. App does not work even slightly
