Aldiko Classic

Look simple, it doesn't work completely for me any more like it did. I bought the app, like so many others in the past! However, I'm NOT going to pay a monthly subscription to use txt to speech! If I went this route, I would pay for a bundle deal on Amazon Kindle/prime, get my drift here. Sorry. Not happening! Unless it changes....

This is my favorite ebook reader! It has ways to catagorize, subcatagorize, & rate your books. Update: recently the app has started reloading as if I've closed the app when I lock the screen or switch to a diff app. I then have to search for the book i was reading and reopen it. Seems like not a big deal, but after the thirtysomething time it gets really annoying. Please fix someone?!

I used to love this, but it is a shake that it is no longer updated to support newer versions of Android. I paid for the premium version too and it no longer supports fullscreen view with newer phones running Android 11, although still works well on my old Nexus tablet. It is the best e-reader app I've ever used in the past though I just wish it would get an update for compatibility with newer devices!

In my experience, it has been a very good and very reliable reading app. Personally, I usually read the classics (free), and so far, it's been great. They have both a night and day reading mode, you can read offline, barely any ads (at least, in my experience) and you can upload your own files/books. Five stars, highly reccomend.

Had potential of being my go to reader... That was before I discovered that if reading an imported pdf, and tapping the sides of the screen for page up/down, the page turned to will not jump back to the top when reading in landscape. Also, dor some reason, the pdf I imported would not adhere to the colour scheme changes I made A shame really. ☹️

At least this classic version exists. The new version is terrible. Don't remove features from an app. They're the main reason anyone uses them. Good work to realise the value of keeping the classic available. I can at least uninstall the "pure" version now. I'd give the classic 5 starts, except it's not the se full app that was replaced with the "pure" versions update.

I absolutely adore this app and have been using it for a long, long time, however recently I've been having the same issue as everyone else when it comes to adjusting the brightness. It'll work fine for a day and then stop working and automatically turn to the darkest setting. I keep re-downloading the app, but it's becoming tiresome.

Doesn't identify text on a pdf, so can't do search or add notes or highlights. Doesn't recognize highlight 3 level titles, so table of cotents appears incomplete. Bookmarks are added arbitrarily under useless titles. App needs a lot of work, but it does display the books just fine. Navigation is otherwise painless. Plus one star because ads aren't disruptive.

I really love this app, my first (and still) ebook reader, although of course it has sone problems. One of which being that the volume buttons always change pages, and there's no setting to turn it off (New Aldiko can be turned off, but it has its own problems). Another is the volume mechanic of it "resetting the volume" after exiting. Please fix these.

This version of the app is still okay. The problem is, the developers forced everyone to switch to Aldiko Next, which is garbage. I was able to delete that, install this, and restore my books on this one. BUT all the data that stored how far you'd read into each book was gone forever. Really really annoying.

i've loved aldiko since i started using it and hasn't switched to anything else but updating to a new version, removing the old version from our phones WITHOUT our consent/permission, thereby removing the library of books we already have in the previous one, is NOT COOL. but thank you for keeping this previous version as a separate app, and i was able to find my ebook files. though i'm not sure if the bookmarking feature was removed in this version

loved this app. i've been using it for years until the updates, specifically the latest one. sone of the contents of the pages are empty. specially when you turn to the next chapter, the first page shows nothing. please fix this issue. thank you

Can't highlight unless you buy the premium version or subscribe. That's like half the purpose of using an ebook reader. At least the app itself supports multiple formats, but Kindle has far more features for free. I understand that this is to generate revenue since aldiko doesn't sell books, but it seems better to just convert the file and use on Kindle.

As other users have pointed out, an excellent app until recently. All of a sudden the brightness can't be adjusted making it a very difficult ebook reader to use as it's stuck on the lowest setting. Please try and fix it soon.

Good App. But I require a way of sharing the books from the App directly without any difficulty. Also, I need the system where the App can easily share the same platform with my Cloud storage account so that I can post most of my books from the App to the cloud in order to create space on my phone. Thanks.

Found I was upgraded to the new horrible version. Was very upset until found this classic version still available. This one does everything I want with a much better looking interface. Wish I could find the apk in case developer removes from play store.

Overall the App. is good, it works well for epub and mobi books. Issues that I have are that it does not display a pdf files correctly for cases of older type pdfs or non text based pdfs. It seems to convert a pdf to epub on the fly which does not always work.

Honestly, I love this app. All other apps are trying to create modern UI but this one makes you feel like you have an actual shelve in your phone. The way the books are arranged to mimick an actual shelve is ingenious! I hope the team that created this can work to improve aesthetics. Thank you

Gone are the times when Aldiko ruled the book reader section. I have switched to other app that offers more for free (NO ads), integrates seamlessly with Google translate (for some strange reason Aldiko Classic would open Google translate which did its job but then it was no longer in the app switch screen (presumaby closed app), so I had to open Aldiko up again for each look-up. Annoying.

I really hope you respond. Aldiko is my favourite of reading apps but when it comes to pdf it has a problem selecting text it either stucks or shuts itself down when trying to select a text. And my main problem is the issue with highlighting on epub files. Please fix it, and respond so I know u have seen this.

I ❤️ Aldiko! I've been using this app since my 1st smartphone! I currently use the premium app on my main phone, my Note 8. Which is why I'm writing this review, which in all honesty should be 5 plus stars. Unfortunately, something is going on with the app. I can't reach any type of support, through the app or even the website. I've gotten a separate work phone, downloaded the app, logged in under my account, yet I can't recover any of my files/books. I need some help here please!

This use to be a wonderful app, but now it has some problems. All books would not open. I purchased this but now, they want to charge again per month. So I'm switching to other types of reader.

BEST ALL AROUND!! I have tried many different readers in the past few months and Aldiko is by-far the best on the market! loads faster than the others I have tried. Also available for my amazon fire with purchase but gladly. The only downside is the price difference of $12 to the $2.99 I paid on my amazone fire, but the app on my fire was worth the purchase compared to what was offered for the free apps.

Developer deactivated the app In favor of a inferior "update" with broken features. Probably to get revenue from its online linked bookstore. This version worked and did what it supposed to. Many promises to "restore" missing features months from now. Time to find a new reader without a linked store.

Has been use this apps for years and love it. But I would like to suggest to add one more feature, It will we nice it you can tag or highlight which book that has been complete. Thanks.

It doesn't compare well with iBooks on iOS. Doesn't offer scrolling for your books. You can just turn the pages. Best app I could find but by no means the best it could be

Disgusting you have removed Aldiko Classic Premium from Google apps store when people paid for it. AVOID ALDIKO AT ALL COSTS. De Marque clearly like to screw their customers over. Aldiko used to be one of the best ebook readers in the app store but years of neglect, lack of new features (like bookmark sync) and now a big FU to customers Aldiko will be an app I will never use. Why would you when I cannot trust the developer. For those that have the Premium version I suggest using ES File Explorer to repack it to an apk file that you can manually install later when you change your phone/tablet.

Can't change the text style and when changing backroung color, only margins get the new colors. In fact, the main background behind the text is still, always and only, white.

I love that I can search and download nearly every book I want, however I am removing a star because everytime I log in to a new device with my exact email and download the app, I have to go back and source every book all over, and this is time consuming since I have over 300 plus books on my app.. I want you to make it so my list can sync with any of my new devices when I reinstall the app on it... This will be greatly appreciated...if this can be done I would gladly give y'all ten stars...
