I haven't had many issues with the app, but one feature I would really appreciate would be the ability to either hide accounts or at least change the order they appear in on the main page. I can already tell that having my investment account front and center is gonna be a huge source of anxiety and compulsive refreshing for me and would rather have the option to hide the account from the main page and let it do its thing. Otherwise, some bits of navigation in the app are not super intuitive.

I've been with Ally for a number of years now and I like the app and online banking. I can't say there hasn't been any issues but the issues I've experienced have been minor and customer service has helped me quickly and easily work through it. The app is easy to navigate and I like having customer service help anytime day or night. I would recommend Ally to someone considering online banking.

Solidly Mediocre. Features generally work and rarely experience noticeable defects. Design isn't particularly intuitive but you can eventually figure it out and they don't move stuff around too frequently. My biggest issue is the forced updates - apps should only have mandatory updates under certain conditions (major api change, security risk, x# of months). Instead these guys demand upgrade weekly and change log is "bug fixes" - should I be guessing that means security issues?

Really dislike some of the noise they added to the UI recently, specifically the ad for "Buckets" and the "Analyze your savings growth" panel. Now if I want to check recent transactions or view an account, I get to scroll past both of those first, and deal with the laggy load time of that panel. Seems like a really bad direction change for the UI. Overall the app is still ok for core banking functions, just less straightforward to use now.

When trying to access my investment account through the app it starts loading then times out and closes the app entirely. This isn't a new issue, had experienced it before. Very frustrating. It's no better going through a web browser...have to constantly clear all my data and cache in order to access the investment dashboard. This is unacceptable in a trading system.

It works? They have been doing UI updates that require a lot more tapping around and even the "snapshot" is bulky and needs scrolling. Please stop making it less functional. There are really long load times between pages, like from checking to snapshot, and invest is way worse. Lag was always bad between pages, it might be worse now, it's at least no better. I also dislike that buckets cannot be undone to not use the feature, and cannot do withdrawals from specific ones like separate accounts.

An update notification would be nice instead of going to check my account and being unable to because an update is needed. Also, hopefully the deposit issue is fixed with one of these updates, that has gone on for too long, I had to open another account somewhere else because of it, so if get back in my account and it hasn't been fixed, I might just close the account. Not receiving money deposits is a hell of a bug, Ally.

Broken. Freezes if you use biometrics. Can't view holdings. Also before the view holdings broke, they put a ton of padding in the holdings view. This makes it much more difficult to quickly view your holdings. So much more scrolling. They also managed to add additional clicks for pretty much everything you'd want to do. Sort? Extra clicks. View stocks? New terrible dashboard to click though every time. Edit 3/24: biometrics working. Still no holdings.

Almost a year with "system unavailable" Absolutely ridiculous that my access to my money is limited because I have to login to my bank in a webpage instead of an app. I called customer support and they told me "This isn't normal, you know" , and that's it. Said they never heard of it before. So frustrating and considering moving banks only because of this issue. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and every possible fix.

Recent updates have made biometric login pointless to setup. Every other day it resets and it will not remember my biometric settings, causing a lengthy and difficult login process. This was never an issue before, and would be an excellent application if it weren't for the bugs such as this and some issues that others have reported.

I appreciate this app quite a bit and the constant need to restart and reconnect was a minor nuisance. But now y'all went and changed up the layout and made it a lot more tedious to navigate, hence the 3 stars. Please go back to the old layout. I don't know who on your team convinced you this was a better idea.

Frequently refuses to connect while on VPN. I'm sure this was intended to improve security, but a VPN to my home network is more secure than open wifi networks. I do like the new design/layout and the app works well when it does connect. Update 4/29/22: Dropping another star because I can't even view my bank accounts once I'm logged in.

Update: Now you can never access your accounts, only through the website. It has been over 2 months and tech support says they are still working on a system wide app fix. When it works it is OK. The problem I continue to have is this app is a roller coaster ride. It's up, it's down, it's up, it's down. You get the drift. Constantly have to go directly to their website to trade. May have to look at alternatives if this keeps up. Frustrating indeed!

With each update, I run into new issues with the function of the app. Why can't they fix bugs without creating new ones? I can't look at my activity at all anymore. Every time I go to "scheduled activity" it gives the error message that the app has timed out due to inactivity. I went with Ally because of being able to do everything via the mobile app. If that no longer works, what is the point?

I love this app. I only use it for savings, and have automatic transfers from my bank checking account each paycheck. Its wonderful having them separate because i only see my savings balance when I check ally, and it accumulates fast behind the scenes. The interest is high compared to other banks. Their customer service is very fast and helpful. I love the chat help feature. Never had any issues with ally. Cant recommend it enoughfor a savings account.

Trying really hard to be chill here - but it's not been months since I could even access the app. Biometrics fail every time, no matter how many uninstall / updates I've done. I cannot deposit checks to my account without tremendous hassle and no one has any idea why my app still doesn't work. The customer support is amazing - they are always doing the best they can. But it's infuriating not being able to do something so simple as deposit a check. For months. Please look into this.

Go back Ally, this latest update is worse. Why do you keep changing the UI? This latest update is visually jarring and it makes it impossible to see your balances right away. I thought the previous update was bad but you've made it worse. Why do you keep tinkering? This used to be such an accessible app. I loved ally, I looked forward to jumping on every day. But this update is awful, I can't see anything, I have to hunt, and it's just unpleasant AF. Go back, go back two screen updates.

Update ruined the summary page. Needs customization options since I don't need a huge account value number right at the top that anyone in a ten foot radius of me could see. Need to be able to rearrange accounts. Giant grey box while scrolling transactions is still present after many updates. I find the web app more useful and less cluttered but the app mostly functions. I have to fully close the app to get biometric login to work without saying system unavailable. Great service, poor app.

Fast and concise Update 4/8/22 After another year and the app still perform outstanding. It gets update on a regular basis, frequent enough to get all the safety security and features but not to the point of annoying. I really enjoy this app. I use a lot of banking apps but this is by far the fastest and easiest app to use. It loads very fast. I'm looking forward to another update again in another year.

Just opened an account with Ally and started using the app. The app is not great. I signed up for the pin and biometrics options to log in and yet I still have to type my name and pw to log into my account. And auto fill doesn't work either. Using the app is a little confusing and not intuitive as much as I would like.

For the past week or so, since the most recent update, all I get after signing in is "Unable to load accounts" then a button for "Try again" which of course gives the same result. Clearing cache and reinstalling the app makes no difference and I get the exact same result on a two different phones.

I just got this account and after two weeks, I still don't have a debit card yet. The only thing the reps could do is tell me to spend my time that I'll never get back to link with friends to send money on zelle or venmo or cash app and get cash, so that is wasting not just my time, but theirs, not to mention the bank keeps declining these transactions. This is a really horrible first impression. Edit - instant transfers are no longer instant either, you'll pay a fee for nothing. Switching banks

When attempting to search transactions for checking application closes unprompted. Phone asks if I want to "clear cache since this app has a bug." I did and the error reoccur. Great app otherwise. Had to rate with stars to report issue. Will change rating once issue is fixed.

Irritating!!! It's irritating enough that updates are occurring almost bi-weekly, but the latest update requires repeated attempts to complete simple tasks. I hope after uninstalling and reinstalling the app will function correctly!!!

The savings and checking is fine but theres a huge isse with ALLY INVESTING. When attempting to click into my invest account it tells me "Action Required - RTQ Agreement" then i click SUBMIT on the agreement and it wont do anything at all. Ive contacted the invest help service several times, they made tickets to their IT group who cant figure it out either so they closed it out instead of trying to fix the issue. I opened the invest account 2 months ago and its still not resolved. Dont recommend
