App provides little control over what should be common options. For instance, I cannot set it up to take a picture when it detects movement, unless I turn on alarms, and allow it to notify me every time. Turning video recording on to "Event Recording" vs "Full Time Recording" makes no difference... It just records all the time. Fyi, the camera I bought is called a "High Definition WiFi Security Camera" from Altec Lansing, with an item number of "ALT-208".
Facial recognition was added but causes the app to crash if you turn it on. Sd card video playback doesn't work right. Overall buggy app. Won't recommend until I get a response from Altec or issues get fixed!!! Ha! Look at that! Took 2 years for them to respond!!! 😂🤣😂 Do not buy their smart tech. Speakers are great but they need to stick with stuff that needs no tech support if they gonna false advertise then take years to respond. Still no fix to the problem btw.
The light itself is beautiful. The app is absolutely awful. Daily I have to uninstall it amd reinstall it in order to make the live screen function at all. Unfortunately without the live screen you cannot control anything including simply turning the light on and off. Please fix this. It'd be a shame to spend the time and effort to design a beautiful product only to skimp out on the software required to run it.
That fact that I have to connect to a lower connection with my wifi is antiquated. Switching back and forth to operate the smart device, takes away the convenience.
Had no real problems with ALT-208-FR playback was fine. Sound i could understand both on my phone and on the camera motion sensor seemed to work. I put a sd card in camera for continuous recording never had to keep phone on for this. only problem i have is can't turn off night vision if you wanted to. Trying to use threw a window its fine with color or daytime recording but as soon as it gets dark night vision turns on automatically and blinds the camera. Would work fine in color or daytime rec
Bought my camera about a year ago and within 6 weeks the camera went purple permanent night vision lol. Tried to do all the resets and fixes. Then recently I got a new smartphone Samsung to be exact and it was an upgrade to my previous Samsung. Worked fine on other phone and works fine on my tablet other than purple lol. New phone only saved motion pics and cannot access video, went through entire phone matching settings with old phone turned on all permissions and still doesn't work.
It worked great for the first 3 days, then after that it wasnt sending any notifications or alarms about motion detection. Unable to find a solution and customer service is non existent. They do not reply to any issues.
My app isn't working. When I try to register it says that the app exited multiple times and so it makes me restart it. After clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling it still doesn't work. Its super annoying and so I can't set up my bulbs
never had to use a surveillance camera before but this app works like a charm! easy connectivity to my home network, bluetooth access, saves photos directly in the app or you can just straight record the whole time you're gone! great app!
Worked great initially but since my husband and I have upgraded our phones it will only connect after our phones have been restarted and it's the first and only app opened. We had to replace it with something more reliable.
I dont know if it's just my app or what, but when I need to use it, it never works. It freezes or says network error or cant find an encrypted channel. It's very frustrating as I use this for my baby monitor so when I need to see shes okay i cant.
Either the camera or the app is trash. I have tried everything and keep getting "establishing encrypted channel". Pretty much a glorified doorbell that the camera doesn't work on. Pure garbage.
I love that I can monitor a room but for live screening I have to constantly restart my phone so it will pic up live streaming. I just rebooted my phone so it would retrieve live video.
I like the system and the setup but for some reason it's starting to go offline on a regular basis where I have to uninstall and reinstall and there is no update or a reason of why it's constantly going offline
Wanted this app on my tablet because the other isn't compatible. Since I already have an account I didn't think I'd need to make another just to find out your own cameras don't connect to the app nor can this app find the cameras I bought from your company. Your customer service is below subpar. Happy I never bought your cloud subscription. Your original Altec Lansing Security app is jyst as crappy but guess you get what you pay for! ðŸ˜
i purchased your so called smart security system w/Google assistant you may as well have stolen the money right out of my hand, ive never bought a more useless item in my life! the camera repeats itself over and over;set up mobile phone,it doesn't in any fashion try to download or pair with any divice or network Id like information on the way your company plans to backup the warranty (thats probably bs too)
I can't access the live view. Added a sim card to see if that would help. So far nothing. There is nothing on the web pages or help desks to get this issue fixed. 2 stars.
Didn't work asked too many questions and I dont understand why this app needs my "WiFi password" if the device is already connected to it. I AM EXTREMELY DISPLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT, THIS APP AND MY DECISION TO PURCHASE THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. Total waste of time and money. 👎👎
Horrible. I was so excited when I got this bulb but then it kept going on and offline. It wouldn't stay connected. I ended up returning it. Ugh
The only difficulty I have is the playback option - its very finicky and doesnt always allow for viewing but otherwise a great app !
Terrible the camera never connected and I've wasted more time than money on something I am unable to use or sell . Money , time and satisfaction down the drain I'll never get it back .I wish I could give negative stars
Thank you for getting back to me. Actually this app would not link to my device. But I tried another Altec Smart Security app and I was able to link my device to it. The other app works fine.
Very inconsistent. Works one day and not the other day. Works on ipad one day and not samsung and vice versa.
Picks up sounds and detects motion when nothing is on or around. Unless it hears and sees something i cant/dont.
Doesn't ever connect to the camera. no matter how many times you reset the camera, stand on the wifi modem or around it.
Just spins at establishing encrypted channel. It used to work. My wife can still use the iphone app to view the camera, but it's useless on android now.
My security cam worked for a month then my smart plug went offline and i can't get it back online the cam can't find an encrypted channel to function Im glad it was a gift and i didn't purchase it.🙄
Why does it keep crashing before login >:( Edit: why did i post this edit in 2019 and you guys JUST replied in 2021??? Safe to say i dont use this product anymore because it wouldnt work.
The device blinks once and then stops. Setup doesn't work. What a waste of money.
The last update was an improvement, but it still has some annoying limitations & confusing language. ETA: When setting up tap to run/automation, the bulb control options are limited to switch/brightness (no option for color or scene) so there is no way to control whether the light is white or colored when it comes on, unless I make sure it is set to that color the last time it is used. There should be a way to select a "scene" when setting up automation.
