Alterna Bank Online Banking

The app is broken. I haven't been able to send or receive any e transfers using the app for more than 6 weeks. I have to use the mobile page or a pc because the app simply gives an error without an error code when attempting to accept a transfer, and says "unable to perform request", when sending one.. This is a huge fault for a banking app to have. I have a Galaxy S9, latest updates and latest app installed.

Doesn't do much. Has a lot of features but they don't function. Can't deposit cheques at all and can't access settings. Also can't transfer funds or send etransfers without entering my entire account number every time (who has their bank account numbers ready on the go?!). Keeps forgetting my quickview info so I can't reliably check my balance either. The website is just as unreliable. For an "online" bank you'd think either the website or app would work. I'm just going to switch banks.

Hello, I am unable to login to the app. I get error message "Oops sorry, something went wrong. Please try again" I have tried on both Android 9 and Android 10 device. I called customer service line and they said they would look into it. No answer yet. Also it seems when I try to login they cannot see my attempt on their end. Frustrating that I cannot use the features found exclusively in the app like mobile cheque deposit.

Can't even use the app. I'm stuck at the Welcome screen where I have the options: Get started, Add Quickview and Resources. No clicks are being registered so I can't get any further. Tried reinstalling, force stopping, clearing data and cache, but no luck. Embarassing.

Saw a new update on Nov 1. Tried reinstalling it hoping it would work. Again it crashes on startup. Not able to get the app going at all. Samaung S8. Anyone else have this issue? the new updated app keeps crashing. it doesn't start at all. please fix asap, i can't access my account anymore through the app

Since the app was updated, it only works approximately 1/3 of the times that i try to access it. It won't even allow me to login when it isn't working. 08/27/19- Reply to "Alterna savings and credit union limited": I did contact Alterna about this a few weeks before writing this review. I received a phone call and was told that they are trying to sort out all the issues.

Great UI allows for easy access to all of my functions. Most importantly I can now transfer from my external accounts to Alterna. This was a pain in the last version as I transfer quite often and having to access the desktop site was inconvenient.

I cannot login it! Seriously could an app be worst that not allowing you to login despite using the correct password. Now account is locked and cannot reset password or anything, that's not even an option. I have to phone you so that you will reset a password that will eventually stop working again? For a bank that relies on electronic transactions, incredibly disappointing! Closing my account!

I cannot modify an Interac recipient with the app, even if the option seems to be available. I always get the following error: " Unable to update recipient details". I have tried with multiple recipients and the error remains the same. I have to use the web site to modify recipients.

Problem solved.... It was the "super user" app installed on my phone that prevented certain apps from opening. Deleted that and all good!.. New customer to Alterna. Downloaded the app and it won't load. Says "Can't use the App on rooted devices ". Problem is my S7 is NOT rooted

Really like the look and feel of the new app compared to the old one. Really great work. The log in process is still a bit convoluted and I would suggest allowing everyone to create usernames to login instead of the login ID as it generates more trouble than not

Can't deposit cheques on this. The camera on this app is messed up. It zooms in the cheque way too close and there is no way to correct that manually on the app. And when you take the photo, the chq appears very small.

i never rate apps but, for the first time ever, i will rate this one. i switched to alterna over a year ago and have had a great experience accessing my account on a computer and my phone. regretably, i upgraded the app and now i'm no longer able to login. i reached out for help and was told that i must use chrome to use the app. pardon me? i dont use chrome and never will. i use firefox or opera. if you want me as a client either allow me to downgrade to the previous version or fix your app

Much improved with the latest update. I can actually deposit cheques - which is a very important part for an online only bank. Some issues with deleting scheduled payments but overall a decent banking app. Not a home run but leagues ahead of their previous "update".

I've been having major issues logging in lately. Had to call several times to have account reset. When trying to do etransfers while purchasing something it becomes v e r y frustrating! Otherwise works fine.

Nice UI, but I couldn't login anymore after a few days usage and had to use the browser to login. I had to erase storage/cache to re-access my account. I do like being able to see my account balance without logging in.

Really good online bank with one of the highest interest rates in 🇨🇦 Amazing costumer support was able to get on the phone with them in under 10 minutes both times. The app is very user friendly. No complaints.

Suddenly not able to log in anymore, no issues on website, tried uninstalling/reinstalling but says there's an issue every time I try to enter my login credentials. Too bad, was functional in the past....

superb app!! i highly strongly recommend. I have been a client of alterna for more than a year and i cant help but compare how superior this app is compared to competition. simple, efficient flow, fast, ease of use)

The app becomes unclickable 50% of time. I even tried to kill app process and reopened and it still won't respond to any touch. Impossible to login. Please take a look into this issue!

This app keeps saying my device has been logged out and that it is rooted. That's not the case, and I've been able to use it before. Incredibly frustrating with the current pandemic.

Biometric login is not working anymore. There is no other way to login it just returns an error when inputting my account and password manually. Plus in order to disable biometric login you must first be logged in. This has rendered the app unusable.

The old version was kind of ugly but at least it was intuitive to navigate and it worked as it should. I am unable to deposit cheques with the updated app.

"Requires Android 4.4 and up" but won't install on a device with Android 8.1.0? How does that even work? Version 13.3.0 worked fine but the 2019 update is very broken. Updated: version 14.0.0 is useless. Login fails half the time, won't accept cheque images no matter what I do, accounts missing. Horrible.

Misses the mark. On Samsung S8+ it won't allow fingerprint sensor, only iris detection for biometric. Tried disabling iris in my security settings and it still only allows iris. At one point it asked me to hold my finger on the sensor but the iris scanner still popped up.

- update sep16 2019 now works without bio auth. Would be nice if the app started on the" log in as" screen instead of asking to set up bio every time. Also would be good to show pending transactions in the account view. Check pictures fails to work.

Useless, made me log in to a new version and at login the app opens my browser to an empty page. Tried multiple times. Had to log in with my browse to check my balance but now I can't deposit my cheque by camera. UPDATE: this app sucks! STILL Can't log in with my correct info, can't even log in to online banking now - says my user name and pw are INCORRECT you should fire the developers and go back to the original app. don't bother sending the same canned answer everyone gets I want a fix

It keeps telling me to make sure I'm connected to the internet even when I'm connected and my internet signal is very strong. What's going on, Alterna? Your app's rating is one of the lowest I've seen. Don't you even care?

The app is under developed. It has absolutely no features besides the ability to check your account balance. I cant evwnaccept e transfers from the app! So dissapointed!

compared to the td app, this app seems to fail transactions way to. many times. seems like there was a recent update and I consider it flaky. need to use web browser for proper functionality.
