Altimeter Pro

Altimeter Pro is an advanced barometer altimeter.
It is usefull for outdoors activities like hiking, mountaineering, ski tour, mountain bike or air sports like aviation or paragliding.

The application is designed to work off-line in backcountry or remote places.

Most functionalities require a pressure sensor (barometer sensor) but the application can be used in GPS mode which can be usefull in some cases or as a backup solution.

Here are the main functionalities :

* Analog panel featuring a real aviation altimeter,
* Digital panel with many information,
* Current Altitude,
* Vertical Speed (ascending or descending rate) (*),
* Altitude Gain,
* Altitude Loss,
* Minimum and Maximum Altitude,
* QFE and QNH pressure (*),
* Live Altitude Profil,
* Track history management : Save / View / Export,
* Different calibration option : by altitude reference, by pressure, by Internet (+9.000 referenced weather stations) (*),
* 2 altitude providers : pressure sensor(*) or GPS chip (not network GPS),
* Advanced GPS with geoid adjust,
* Sensor offset adjustement (*),
* ISO Standard Temperature settings (*),
* Different units (hPa, inHg, Meter, Feet, Km, Nm, Mi, °C, °F...),
* HD Graphics,
* User interface in severals langages : English, Spanish, French, Italian, German.
* Acoustic vario : you can set climb and sink thresholds (*),
* Automatic altitude vocalization,
* Speach synthesis of altitude on touch,
* Widgets,...

Once Altimeter Pro is started, forget-it ! The application do all the job for you.

Its intelligent design allows to have a minimal energy footprint on your device. You can then focus on your activity without to worry.

At the end of your activity, you can save your track.

Later you can view it or export it.

(*) These functions require a barometric sensor (pressure sensor) in your android device : Goolge Samsung Nexus, Google LG Nexus 4, Google LG Nexus 5, Google Nexus 6, Google Nexus 9, Samsung Galaxy Note 1, Note 2, Note 3, Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S4 Advance, Motorola Moto X, LG G3, Sony Xperia Z3...

I had free version and worked good so i decided go pro. Big mistake. First im unable to calibrate it. It always shows negative altitude when barometer is used, can't be even zeroed. Second , I try the voice announcements once, but now the voice is always on no matter if it shows on or off in settings. Very annoying.

Great app! A suggestion: include an automatic barometer set mode that would periodically set the barometric pressure using the nearest station. Perhaps once every 2 hours?

It works perfectly in my ASUS ZenFone AR. I'm impressed at how accurate it is. It picks up the minute changes even as little as a foot while hill climbing. Of course this phone has all the sensors too, i don't have to rely on the GPS

great app and well worth the price. no ads, no nonsense. I just wish it had an option to display the current pressure digitally as in the free app. it's hard to see on the altimeter.

Used to work fine. Now it doesn't work. Gives me crazy Low altitudes.

Nit user friendly

I originally picked this app because of the large digital display without any unnecessary animations or other silly distractions. I use it for mountaineering (where there is no cell or Wi-Fi service), and my phone doesn’t have a barometric sensor (which isn’t terribly accurate anyway). I therefore only use the GPS altimeter. It responds quickly and is accurate when I check it against known elevations on a map. If you care about battery life, be sure to exit the app (“BACK” and then tap “EXIT”) when you aren’t actually using it.

Okay well the app is great. As far as being accurate. This thing is amazing it detects changes as small as a few inches. However you must understand that there are small changes in atmospheric pressure all the time especially when there's clouds in the sky so you have to keep up with the changes by calibrating with the local air ports. And if you are using this in your car keep the windows up and if you are using the AC or heater keep it on Recirculate. This app would have gotten 5 stars if it were not for 2 things. one the chart during tracts just seams to pick random times it definitely doesn't use the phone clock. The other problem is clicking on the link to the developer goes nowhere.

Excellent app! I loved the free version so I went ahead and got this, the graph is very handy as is the automatic calibration. Only complaint is it does not show the altitude readout in both feet and meters under the analog gauge as it does in the free app. If there was an option to enable this, it would be fantastic.

This app did not work proper on samsung s-6. It always started at ramdom whenever phone was used. It was like a mosquito appearing from nowhere to annoy. Eventually I just swatted this mosquito.

I would like it to calibrate on start up from nearest source.

This is just what I needed. I use this for PPG and love the voice announcements. I have it set to tell me the altitude every 200 feet. I no longer need to look at my phone.

Won't calibrate if using GPS only.

Nice, but how does one turn it "off"? The only way I've found so far is to force stop the app (there's no "exit" button! ?????)

Simple, accurate, easy to calibrate. I like the fact that it does not use gps. When calibrated from an accurate barometer it reads right on. I really like the analog widget. Awesome app!

An accurate app. Tried this on many occasions at known altitude areas. Pretty accurate....when compensation added.

When i compare it with garmin gps, it has not much difference. You must have it in your smartphone.

Runs perfect with precision, but even finishing the app it remains in the notification bar and heat the phone until kill the battery. The only solution it to force to stop in the app management. Please, solve this and will have the 5 stars. Sony Z5 EDITED! Now it runs perfect and it closes. I did your explanation before which were not working. Thanks a lot for your fast reply!

I measured at cabane tracuit (3256m) but it was reporting as around 3100m. Also, it was reporting around 100m lower at bishorn. However, it works well on grounds lower than 1000m. Perhaps it does not work well in high altitudes? I was using barometer as sensor.

If you guys could get the altimeter to auto-calibrate based off of the nearest METAR (internationally standard) that would make this app AWESOME!!!

Ham. H. Jun 20, 2016

It a good app. Can you change acoustic sounds? It look very unfamiliar to me. It should be sth like bip bip bip

Joh. D. Jul 10, 2016

I'm on the Forth road bridge. I'm 1 metre up?

Flo. A. Jan 7, 2016

Perfect calibration methods. Anyways, two small feature suggestions: option to display climb rate also in meters per hour, which is nice for sports, now available, thank you!. And optionally graph pressure in long intervals, which would make it a stationary weather station.

Great design and look. Accurate and easy to calibrate. Works entirely independently from the Internet, so useful in back country. Works with both pressure (if sensor fitted to device) and GPS. Works great on Samsung Galaxy S5.

Thank you!

Works fine with S6 edge. Great app :)

Day. F. Nov 6, 2015

Great app. Good looking and easy to read in flight (still use mechanical alt but a great comparison). What would be great is an audio feedback (beeping rate) from the vario climb rate. Works a teat with the barro sensor in my Galaxy 5. Well done

This is a good app but I would like to see an altitude alert (with all the requisite disclaimers of course). That would put it over the top.
