Amazon Cloud Cam

With the Cloud Cam app, you can access your Cloud Cam feed, anywhere you go. Use the Cloud Cam app to check in 24/7 and catch every activity. Replay important activities that were captured throughout the day. Name your cameras to easily differentiate monitoring views, like the kitchen vs. the living room. Listen in or let your kids know when it’s time for bed with two-way audio. You can even customize alerts by highlighting zones that are most important.

Catch every moment
Amazon’s indoor security camera features everything you need to help keep your home safe. With Cloud Cam, you get only the alerts that matter. As soon as activity is detected you’ll be notified through real-time notifications, allowing you to keep a tab on your home from anywhere.

24/7 monitoring
Stay connected 24/7 to your home, family, and pets in crisp 1080p HD, and catch activities as they happen. Cloud Cam captures up to 30 frames per second, ensuring every moment is secured. Use the Cloud Cam app to drop in on your home anytime by viewing live video streams, replay motion alert videos, and more.

See clearly in the dark
Cloud Cam features eight infrared LEDs that let you see clearly in the dark. Cloud Cam’s computer vision algorithms automatically activates night vision when lighting is dim. See the entire room throughout the night—not just a spotlight.

Two-way audio
Cloud Cam’s built-in mic and speaker lets you stay in touch with your household. Check in with the kids after school, tell your dog to stop barking, or say hello through the Cloud Cam app.

Intelligent alerts
Cloud Cam’s computer vision algorithms analyze video clips in real time. Unlock additional features such as person alerts to get notified when someone’s actually there. Zones lets you set areas that Cloud Cam should ignore, like a fish tank or a tree outside a window, so Cloud Cam can focus on activities you care about. And since Cloud Cam’s intelligence lives in the cloud so it automatically adds new features and functionality.

Live view stopped working completely. Why am I paying for the premium features again if the basic features don't work?! The app used to work great until 2019 and then the ability to view any videos (live or recorded) on your mobile device completely stopped. Even on a web browser things take forever to load and it's super hard to actually view any saved videos or live videos.

Live view won't load on phone for last couple months. App also doesn't refresh newly saved video clips like it used to. Open app to find most recent clip is typically from several days before. Takes a while to scroll through old clips just to get the app to start eliminating old clips to get to the newer ones. Not convenient or useful anymore. Looking for other options. You should too.

Loved the app until it stopped allowing live view from my phone. I can launch live view from my Windows PC, and then the picture will show on my Android phone. It used to work just fine. Happy to change my review if the app starts working properly. Looks like lots of others have the same issue. Grrrrr.

Update: Somehow Home and Away is getting WORSE. Now it won't turn off! 30 events...every...damn...day... Original: Home/Away setting is spotty at best. It won't turn on when away for several days in a row. But, I don't want it on all the time, either. If it had the option of using connected network to determine this (phone is connected to same network as camera) it might be a little more reliable. Next camera for me will be IFTTT enabled.

UPDATE: 7 months later, and the app still doesn't work. Wow. I'll change my review if the app ever starts showing a live feed again. It worked fine for a while, but the past week or so at best shows a static image (the sound still works though) but usually just hangs and doesn't load. The web version works, but again, slow. My connection is fine, I'm streaming Netflix in ultra HD with no issues. You had one job!

The home/away feature completely stopped being useful months ago. It needs to be able to detect when the phone connection is on the same WiFi and it would probably be more reliable. Doesn't turn on when I leave and then can't get it to shut off the rest of the time. So I switched to a schedule setup instead. Now the app keeps crashing preventing me from shutting the cameras off if I come home early I have to wait for the schedule to shut it off. Beyond frustrated.!!!!

This APP used to work great, but for the past several weeks now on my Samsung Galaxy phone, I keep getting the "retry" error message and the preview of the video does not show... just gives me the animating 3 dots. Sometimes it does show, but the picture is frozen with a very low quality image and you can't refresh it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no difference. It does seem to work fine on the Amazon Fire tablet and the Cloud cam website.

I can't get the live feed to work. 3 dots loading never loads. My wife can't get the saved videos. Between the two of us we have one functioning app. I thought amazon was a tech company. I get 24hours of recordings saved. But it's nearly impossible to sift through them because they're recorded in short 30-60 second clips and there's hundreds of them. I regret not getting the 2x more expensive nest cam. The app for that seems more reliable and much better user interface.

AMAZON PLEASE FIX THIS APP!! More often than not, the app sits thinking and try to get caught up to the current timeframe. This is extremely frustrating especially when you have concerns something may be occuring that you want to view but can't because the app is trying to sync. I've spent a small fortune on cameras and subscriptions only to be frustrated with the app. FIX IT!!!

It keeps running on the background and uses my data at home even when I am connected to my WiFi. It is slow and is poorly done. Lacks basic features like searching by day or hour. You have to scroll through days and days off videos of you want to find something that happened 4 days ago. It is absolutely ridiculous and impractical. And for the cherry on top it is slow. The cameras never record the on time or stop recording prematurely. It is a mess and that is why my 6 cameras will go to the 🗑️

The app worked at first, but now I cannot view my live feed on my Samsung S10 with Android 11 OS . The 3 dots show on the screen as if it is trying to load and then eventually I get an error that says "an unexpected error has occurred." I'm very disappointed. I'm seeing a lot of users experiencing the same and Amazon isn't doing anything about it. I've followed all trouble shooting tips including clearing cache, resetting the camera, uninstalling and re-installing the app, and deregister and reregister Amazon Cloud Cam app. Nothing works. I'm livid. Amazon needs to fix this immediately. This is unacceptable.

It would be nice if this would integrate with Guard so I could turn everything on with one command. The Home/Away feature would be great if it worked correctly. I have to remember to turn the cam on after I leave because it wont come on. When I return home it wont shut off so when I come in the door it is already announcing movements. This is quite possibly the worst camera and app combination EVER. I wish I could return the camera and delete the app. Never again Amazon.

Unreliable, and frustrating. I know a lot is going on but now more than ever we need to be able to trust or security system devices and apps we use with them. I can't get any live view, settings get randomly switched and it's plain ole unreliable. I'm so disappointed in Amazon, they are swimming in money at least fix the apps and systems!

Mig. C. Jun 6, 2019

Dissapointing. As others pointed out, the app is useless from Android. The app works great from iPhone though, so most likely the issue is not a camera hardware's one but Amazon's deliberate decision to prioritize the iPhone ecosystem over Android. From my Samsung S9+, I can't see the live view 90% of the time, the app consumes mobile data even when connected to wifi, audio sent to the camera is extremely low volume. All these issues aren't present in the iPhone version of the app. Please fix this, Amazon, I want to like your cloud cam.

Over the past several months, live view will not work on my Galaxy S10+. I am usually presented with the "An unexpected error has occurred" notification. I can view the live view fine via the CloudCam website but the lack of function on the app makes it pretty useless. Amazon just claims that I should uninstall and reinstall the app, which I have done several times but it makes no difference.

Home Away detection has been unreliable since Android 9. I had the issue starting after I upgraded my Pixel to 9.0 and the issue persists on my Pixel 3 now. I often have to manually turn my cameras on and off from the app since it fails to do so automatically. There's also a lack of interoperability. I'd love see integration with Google Home, or at the very least, IFTTT. Managing the cameras manually wouldn't be so cumbersome if I could just issue a voice command through Google Assistant.

When this app/camera works it works well. But the last few weeks the app says "an unexpected error has occurred" so that no live feed is available (it still records movement though) and troubleshooting steps haven't done anything to resolve it. I find this pretty frustrating because I can't check on my child whenever I need to - only when/if there's movement can I see the 30 second recording.

R. Oct 11, 2019

Sometimes it'll record a video clip of a trespasser leaving my property, but it won't record the video clip of them entering my property, even though it might notify me of both activities. (For the missing clip, the notification will take me to the home screen, instead of the corresponding clip.) Or sometimes it'll just stop recording videos for an entire day, or longer. If you need a security camera system that you can always trust, you should return your Amazon Cloud Cam and look elsewhere.

Not reliable - if something happens, when you go into the app to check to make sure the recording is there & nothing newer than the last time you opened the app. Alerts are not reliable, sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. The worst part is trying to watch a rec. & instead being stuck watching a spinning gray circle & never getting to see my own rec. that I'm PAYING them to store for you. Want to download it? Get a msg stating they'll 'let you know' when it's ready to be downloaded.

Uses a lot of mobile data even when on Wi-Fi. Doesn't maintain 1080p picture when it has a good location near the router. Tried to use it as a baby cam, don't, if it loses connection it will strobe the front light until it gets connected. I would get a different brand. Don't recommend it at all.

every time I turn the camera offer on with the app I get a window that says unable to save settings try again. I've tried to fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the app and cycling the phone, but it doesn't help. I've also kept the app up-to-date. The app and the camera are painful, if you like pain then get this. I have had so many problems what a total pos. Update: I just walked by the camera while turned on and it didn't see me. Very unreliable.

Lea. T. Apr 8, 2019

the app all of the sudden crashes any time I try and open it. I cannot view live feed and it's basically useless. prior to the last few days, the cameras would seem to disconnect randomly from the wifi causing me to have to manually reconnect. it was a pain but at least the cameras worked. now I can't even access the app or view anything from my phone so it's useless. FIX THIS PROBLEM please amazon.

I have five cameras in 3 locations around the country. Until October of this year they all worked fine, but since then all has changed. I can open the camera it was on last but the app will close as soon as I try to change cameras. The app will also close if I try to view a video clip. In fact, the app will close no matter what changes I try to make. This is infuriating. I have a lot invested in these cameras and hope Amazon can get it right.

Cra. Apr 23, 2020

Edit: Less than a month after 1-star review it magically started working again. Original Review: It worked for maybe a year until the live view just stopped working. I have not found a solid reason or fix for the problem. Reinstalling the app doesn't change anything... The cam itself still works fine, I can see live view from a computer. Other phones I've put the app on worked fine for the short amount of time I tested it. Also, the quality of the recordings aren't great in my opinion.

Tod. B. Jan 17, 2019

I've had mine for almost a year; it was working great until this weekend. Not the app (Samsung Note 9) simply won't stream live video unless I'm on wi-fi. The camera hardware for sure works, and I can see video on my work PC. Apparently either an app or firmware update broke it. So now it's essentially useless.

Bea. M. Feb 1, 2019

Absolutely terrible. the entire system has become a waste of money. Not sure what changed about a month ago, but it appears that there was an update. now I cannot view any recordings on the app. Half the time it closes when viewing live, but now it will not let me view a single recording. Garbage. And it has made the camera system worthless.

Duo. D. Dec 31, 2020

I have using Amazon cloud cameras for years. In the last few weeks I wasn't able to see the live view of the cameras and it keeps spinning and unresponsive. I'm not sure what was the change on the app that causes the issue. I have no issue viewing the live viewed on my iPad. Amazon please fix the issue. Thanks

I havent used home/away but the other features work for me on my Android phone. Live feed and recorded clips work but motion sensitivity too sensitive. Setting on medium or low sensitivity doesnt make a diff. I turned off all motion detection because I wanted only person detection, but it records all motion (cars passing, lights, etc.). Also, be aware it requires a subscription to Cloud storage. Basic paid is only 7 days a month.

Gre. M. May 14, 2020

Live feed never loads and trying to change home/away function causes the app to crash, making the feature unusable. Since the home/away feature is broken, I'm forced to manually turn the camera on and off to protect my privacy. Even worse, the camera turns back on and begins recording by itself, after I've turned it off manually through the app... Super sketchy!!

Dav. S. Oct 25, 2019

You can watch three dots on your screen, or stare at a screen that says "No events detected" after you recieved a "motion detected" alert. You get to pay extra for a subscription that in theory gives you 30 days of recordings. If you contact Amazon support they'll tell you to uninstall and reinstall the app. That resets all your camera settings, so your phone gets peppered with alerts. They'll tell you it takes time for the clips to appear, it's been 3 days now...
