Amcrest Connect

Keeps telling me there's an update available, but it won't install. App hasn't been updated in years. Online help is of no use.

Even though my network is not using IPs of range 192.168.10.x, the app keeps complaining and would not configure. Allows very short passwords, so would not connect to my existing wifi. Tried creating a guest network with short password but the app keeps complaining about ip range. Tried wrong password also and got same message, so this means the app does not bother attempting to connect before it gives up for some foolish reason. Dont waste your time. The plug is going back.

The AH357 smart plug cannot be initially configured with Android 6. It can be configured with Android 4, and I did not test with Android 5. Once configured, the smart plugs are very easy to manage. However, there is no 'name following' in the Amcrest Connect application, each Android device used to manage the plugs will needed to have the plug names manually entered in the app, if you prefer naming consistency across Android devices.

So I just got my S7. Had an S3 for about 3 years. Anyway downloaded Amcrest Connect on the S7 and was transported back in time to when I first went through the ordeal of connecting my 2 Amcrest switches. I have a 38 year IT background including applications, network and systems programming retired as a department Director. My hobby now is configuring Ip cameras and home automation web relays for friends and family....I've had better luck on a craps table.

What a pile of crap! I wish I had read the reviews for this before I bought the "smart plug". Absolute and utter junk. Does not work at all.

The updated version for Marshmallow works as expected. I tested it on my Nexus 7. The plugs are not very smart though. There is no way to group the plugs. I would like to see an option to tag each plug with group tags so I could turn on or off a group of plugs.

Got 2, non are configuring. Used different phones and still nothing.

this app stopped working. it will no longer control the plugs from online. only local wifi works.

Won't connect to the device to configure, is there a way to do it manually with my computer or something? I don't have any non nexus devices in my house. I was able to borrow a different device to set up, they work now, but now they want a firmware update that won't go. Any suggestions?

I tryed many time to connect but it is fail it is connected as adirect mode but in wifi netwourk not connect

EATING MY BATTERY. I just discovered that this app has been chugging my battery... It accounted for 1/4 of the drain so far since I noticed it... This makes me wonder what it's doing in the background. Until now, I have had no trouble at all using this app. I have two plugs, both branded by another name, but same hardware, and this software works better in my opinion. Please fix this!

I bought 2 devices and after several hours of trying different things and retrying I could not get either to connect to wifi and had difficulty connecting directly. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Had to find a small smart plug to fit a confined space to control a set of gate lights. Amcrest delivered & delighted, with attractive price, elegant packaging, simple instructions, and an app that worked. Thank you.

For those having trouble with setting up your smart plug, go to the "app info" and clear all cache and data!

Can any bodies say how to get short cut on/off switch on sections

What's with the up date, now it doesn't work.

This app is way better than Belkin's wemo. The only con I see so far is sometimes when you tap on device control it says "Retrieving infor, please wait..." and then sometimes it says "failed to retrieve info." However if I just tap on it again, it works with no problems.

Waste of time app they should be clear as to excatily what types of cameras or diveces are compatiable.

Set up on laptop but never successful on android...WiFi would not connect...updated firmware would not open on android. Returning camera...too many issues. Deleted all download and reset camera to factory settings and started over...to no avail.

Device doesn't connect through my Droid going to be glad to return this crap and pay more for easier instructions
