Buggy, app crashes when using presets after using zoom controls. For reviewing playback you must select "Regular" to get "Motion Detect" playback. This app need to be updated as the other version (Amcrest View Pro) does not work well on tablets.
I'm tired of having to tweek this app/reset the cam and its settings every few months to get it to connect to the cam. Into my ever-growing box of crappy electronics it goes...
Love the camera, and customer service has been great. i intend to buy another camera.
it's been crashing like 80% of the time i uses it
No updates since 2015... app just simply doesn't work.
Unable to connect to my android tablet
You should put a cast button in the app
I actuall like this app just fine. The GUI is not too busy and pretty self explainatory. Although I may not have tried to access some of the features the guy below is talking about and thats why my bike and ts why bike still got stolen...j/k No but they did really get stolen. . .its because I keep forgetting to test for motion detection. I have an Amcrest and a Nest cam. I like the Amcrest model and app most .
After reading reviews I was dreading setting this up. I went by the pamphlet inside the Box and it fired right up. I have really slow internet access where I mounted it and I'm pretty surprised that there isn't any lag. I will say the menu Isn't necessarily user-friendly because of the real estate it takes up on the screen, I have a note and that's saying a lot. The cloud storage website is useless for Android because it uses Adobe Flash, get the app instead.
If all you want to do is watch a live feed them this app will work fine. However, after screwing around for over a month with trying to view and scan what is recorded to the SD card I've done to the conclusion that it just doesn't work. At least not on my Galaxy Tab S2. It works flawlessly on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air though.
The only good thing I can say about this app is that it doesn't drop frames when viewing multiple Amcrest cameras in HD. The bad stuff about the app is that there are some missing controls that you can only access on your computer. The worst thing about it is that you can not setup a default view when opening the app... You always have to select a camera or group or favorite before you can see anything, so by the time you open the app and make a selection - the person at your door is gone. I really wish Amcrest would fix this... I even contacted them, so I know I am not missing the setting somewhere in the app.
Works on my Samsung tablet and LG phone I see some reviews where the app doesn't work on a particular device. Can only speak for mine, it works well. However, the configuration screens are different than the ones in browser view, I wish they were the same. Only 10,000 downloads, makes me wonder what other owners are using. The cameras are a good value.
The app works inconsistently on a Galaxy S7. Combine that with the fact that amcrest releases firmware for their camera that contains bugs that they acknowledge but do nothing about and I would warn anyone from wasting money with this company until they get their act together. The reviews are mostly positive on the cameras but they are really only as good as the most current reviews which reflect many of the issues. Personally I think they're trying to push people into their paid cloud storage.
I say this is the best software of them all for the Amcrest camera. The control stick feature gives better control over the swipe feature in other versions. Works well.
The app doesn't work on a fairly regular basis. Therefore I find it frustratingly unreliable.
I am able to use my samsung phone and tablet to view the cameras. Easy operation to pan and zoom and move around. I love this
I don't know how this company can exist. every single app they make is trash
Last update was 2015... it is 2017. It does not have the same configurations as the phone version, so it is imposible to set up.
Basic functions work, but most of ui is broken. No way to play back recorded video, for instance.
Cannot get the app to login to the DVR. Keep getting a "login timed out" error. It's not a setup issue as I can login via the (worthless) PC app. I'll update this review if/when this is fixed.
On Galaxy Tab 4, app says that camera needs firmware update, then crashes. Camera is already at latest firmware.
Push notification for this app is not working. Phone is a moto g 3. Also have a Reolink camera with app installed on same phone and push notifications work excellent. Contacted support through E mail and was told to call. I don't have hours to waste waiting on the phone for something that should work as advertised.
Shows correct aspect ration (unlike phone app). Why does it default to SD and I have to change to HD every time. Make a default to HAD if wanted.
To slow opperation controls need alot of work. Ip cam viewer way better ap even on amazon fire so cam on tv also. Glad I bought that a long time ago.
Worked until upgrade from Marshmallow to N. Tried uninstall and reinstall didn't fix. Called Amcrest tech support. They didn't have an Android N device to try it on. Error message seems to indicate permission problem running an NDK library.
Works for live view but pretty much everything else is buggy or unintuitive.
Suddenly stop streaming camera feed on samsung tab s2. Timeout camera connection. The iOS version of this app is more stable.
Aspect ratio is completely wrong in both portrait and landscape mode. In portrait things are squashed too much horizontally & landscape they are squashed too much Vertically. Amcrest does this on all their apps, but the web viewer on the old internet explorer has a 1:1 button that displays pixel by pixel & ratio is correct. The developmers at Amcrest need to go learn about aspect ratios and how to maintain them, either make the view area the same 9:16 aspect ratio of the camera or crop to fit
