It's a little difficult to navigate. Some of that may be due to security precautions. Oversecure to my way of thinking. Seldom get into the account without having to change password.
The fingerprint login rarely works. I get to use it once or twice and then it says authentication required and I have to enter my password. Other than that, it works well enough.
We were with Fidelity before it became part of Ameris and we never had a single problem with the app. Since switching I've been frustrated with how long it takes to log into every time, how slow the app is in general, how often it won't let me or my husband log in at all due to an "unexpected error", and worst of all we've had multiple times that we've tried to deposit checks using the app and it has failed to go through more often than it has actually worked.
An improvement over the past but you still must search too hard to find the way to deposit a check (multiple sub-menu locations and it is hidden under a + sign at lower right0. I still have not found a way to take advantage of fingerprint or facial recognition on an Android phone yet despite the app's HELP menu telling you that you can set it up to do so. Under Settings, there is only a vague Notifications on/off switch. A work in progress.
The account transactions does not show a running balance (i.e. the new total after each transaction), which is very useful. I cannot set an alert for when my balance falls below a certain point. I did set an alert for transactions over $50, but Ameris does not reliably alert me. Automatic payments, for example, are apparently excluded. Yet the app will send me multiple notices of transactions under $50, e.g. when I'm out running errands (buying gas, groceries, etc.) - but only sometimes. : (
So few features it drives me crazy. The old Fidelity app was far better. Ever since the change to Ameris, I haven't been able to see or pay my auto loans online. I have no idea the balance. The archaic way they set up to let you pay your auto loan does not allow you to make a payment if you're more than 3 months ahead. You literally have to walk into a branch. It's completely unacceptable in 2019.
The Fidelity app was far better than this one. Why didn't you adopt the better app after the merger? I miss the fingerprint sign on, the accurate running balance, and the clear descriptions of transactions. It's very difficult to find the check deposit feature, and it drives me crazy that I have to get a text code every time I want to log in. I want to log into my account quickly and easily.
The direct deposit feature is left to be desired. It takes at least EIGHT ATTEMPTS to have the app accept the pics. I dont get a notification of what went wrong. Instead after I take a picture, it thinks I have the rotation unlocked (I don't) and it switches between horizontal to vertical view, which clears out any picture I take. This has been happening since the my bank got acquired by ameris. So frustrating.
Fidelity was great. WAS great. Since y'all changed to ameris, it's one big sh#@ show. I work on the road and rely on the mobile app. Lately, it must doesn't work. When I call the phone number, they are always trying to charge me fees to make transfers. How are you going to charge me a fee when your app doesn't work? Fix the app before I get back to Atlanta or I will find a new bank.
The "new" Ameris Bank app is pretty cool. The majority of the services are very convenient; as long as you set up the proper conduits (i.e. Fingerprints, other bank accounts, Zelle, Bill Pay, etc.). This app CAN become your "1-Stop" locale for multiple account actions. HOWEVER, setting up such impressive features WILL get frustrating. A lot of the times, you'd need to log into the actual website or call Customer Service to even set these service(s) up. But after you do all that #TOTALLYWORTHIT
Pretty easy to navigate and use. My only improvement would be to allow activation of mobile banking alerts through the app (such as text / email alerts for deposits, withdraws, purchases) etc. and the ability to toggle these. Also would appreciate features for locking/unlocking your debit card if card is blocked due to unconfirmed or confirmed suspicious charges or roaming. Otherwise, easy to use to check balance and deposit checks / pay bills but other features are on website only.
Basic banking app. Does pretty much everything you need to do with online banking. I would just suggest adding the ability to make notes about various banking activities such as what you spent the money on (groceries, sheets, dog food, etc.) and what the deposit amount was for (paycheck, loan repay from friend, SS disability, etc.) Also, it's a little difficult to remember how to initiate a mobile deposit.
I have been using this for about several months now and have been very pleased. I like being able to use my fingerprint to sign in. I have made several deposits with no problems so far and like getting the notices when there is a charge to my account. I am now several months in with this app and am still very pleased with the benefits it offers. Really like the new font and layout. Still very happy with Ameris Bank.
I like the app but it needs a total upgrade. With the fidelity app I was able to find alot of useful information i.e. acct # date opened and was even able to setup a budget which is what I really liked about. Switching to this has been a total nightmare. So until some major changes are made I'm uninstalling.
It ran fine before the last update. White screens constantly now. I have to reinstall on almost every use. I have 2 phones, 2 diff styles and it does it on both, so its not because of the phone type a user has. I will reinstall to keep the app when a new fix for the issues has been applied and then try again. Its now Oct 24th 2020. Will give 5 stars once techs can figure out the issue.
Easy enough to log on, but finding some functions is not obvious. I had to call customer support to find mobile deposit. It makes more sense to me to display a menu that puts functions people will actually use frequently on the first page. The website on my laptop also has fewer capabilities. Fidelity allowed me to organize my online payees by category such as Utilities or Credit Cards. Ameris seems only to allow alphabetical order.
Constantly logged out of the app. I'll go to open and check my balance or deposit a check and the app will ask me for username and password instead of asking me for fingerprint. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled and it doesn't fix the issue. On the latest app version and latest version of Android. Please fix this.
The app does not give running balances. Not good. The online banking I had with Fidelity Bank gave running balance when you looked at your accounts online. Also, the old app had everything right there on the front page. With this one you have to hunt around to find what you're looking for. Again, not good
Logging in has been a challenge for months. Constantly needing a security code, amd the fingerprint option no longer available is just frustrating.
The app comes in handy when wanting to know my balance and if a transfer needs to happen, in avoiding an overdraft. I am falling in love with this app the more I use this
Constantly having to re-enroll and do a step two verification every single time is very very annoying and time consuming . And as of right now I can't even open the app. I'm getting some kind of application error. I absolutely love ameris banking. Just hate the app. Please fix it..
The app worked good for me for several months. After that it has been asking me to register and saying that my username and password is wrong even though I am able to login with the same login info through online banking. Without the app, I can't do mobile deposits. I decided to just delete the app.
Update: fingerprint login doesn't work anymore. Every time I login, it acts like I've never logged in from my phone before. God, I hate this bank sometimes. Pros: It does mobile deposit and bill pay. It finally integrated fingerprint login. Cons: There is no way to see your account number from the app. Can't even download your statements. You have to go to the full website for those. So, dropped one star for no account number and no statements and one for no mobile notifications.
Keeps kicking out credentials. Only way to fix temporarily is to reinstall app. Eventually, within a couple sign ins, it kicks out credentials again. Very irritating. Sad I'm considering changing banks over poor app management. This is happening in my entire household across multiple different platforms and accounts.
Good experience...wish it had biometric options to access... but overall, good application. (UPDATE..11/03/2021) The app is all of a sudden failing. Had to uninstall and reinstall (more than once) and it kept asking for my phone # for enrollment verification. When I entered it, it said "Number already in use" and wouldn't allow me to log on. When it worked, it was good but this experience has changed my review from 4 to 1. Customer service said they recently updated their app so go figure.
Don't like that since it switched from Fidelity, they don't let you get credit back for out of network ATM withdrawals. But I won't f_@/ with any other bank
The Ameris app allows deposits from home, makes it possible handle finances easily. As full time caregiver for a family member, getting to the bank to make a deposit would be problematic at times. The app brings banking home. And, as an aside, the folks at Ameris have always been kind and helpful, staying with any problems until they are resolved. I really appreciate them.
Ameris is a good bank, do not get me wrong here but ... the app is a problem. Every other week I have to uninstall & reinstall because it continuously messes up. As stated above in another review, the app continuously asks for a second verification AFTER I have used it a few days. I am going to delete instead of reinstall & possibly change banks. It has become a headache anymore.
This banking app is not even good enough for a third world country. It constanly asks you for second verification when you login to the app. I've brought up this nuisance to the bank but they can't help you with it and they don't even know why it is happening. The bank is fine but this app is pure garbage. Do not download. Just use the desktop version.
I can no longer log into the app unless I'm around my husband. It always want me to verify a code that it will only send to his phone even though I have added my number into it before, but it won't give my number as an option. They took the finger print option away. Been this way for months and months and apparently ameris doesn't care enough to fix it even though they are constantly getting bad reviews.
