Has trouble opening one of those very slow, typically doesn't open just crashes. When it does work finally, if at all, it is a nice app simple using very helpful. Seems to work better for some reason while no other apps are running and app is not battery optimized. May be placebo effect but crashes so many times I always just close everything else while I have to use the Amex app. Real inconvenience but use to pay bill. My other credit card apps work great wish this did too.
Very unreliable & inconvenient. Even worse is the travel feature. Flights are not updated and I have had to call the Amex Travel agents multiple times because I go through the trouble of booking flights just to get an error message saying the flights selected are no longer available. However, those same flights remain on the options list even days after the error messages. Also, all upcoming flights/hotels used to show up in the app but now, you'll have to log into the Amex Travel website.
App crashes or tells me it's unavailable ad to try again later. Not once has it worked for me since I initially downloaded and installed it in January. I've deleted and reinstalled multiple times and still no positive results. Most disappointing app considering how reputable a company American Express is.
The newest update removes the feature showing if you have already added a receipt. Now it forces you to click the charge, click the receipt, and see if there has been anything added yet, not to mention the app runs MUCH slower now. I miss being able to sort by if a receipt has been uploaded yet. When you have a lot of receipts to upload every month this gets very tedious and frustrating.
The AMEX mobile app intermittently blocks password managers from automatically pasting the user's password into the password field. Not a big problem for short passwords, but for users like me who have an ultra-long password, with a mixture of special characters, numbers, and upper and lowercase letters, it's a major annoyance. AMEX has admitted it is aware of the problem, but lacks qualified IT personnel to fix it.
The layout and movements on the app is annoying. I hate that everytime I scroll up it goes back to just showing my card. Also I made a payment and it doesn't show the accurate amount still left to pay, I have to tap multiple things just to show that my payment was made. A credit card app should be sweet and simple.
I had an incident: I went to a bar called La Parilla in Puerto Rico and paid for my dinner. The bill amount was $81.95 and I added a $10 tip to make it $91.95. Later I saw I was charged both the amount by Amex so I went to the bar and spoke to the manager. He showed me their report and claimed that they had only charged me once ($91.95). Later, I was able to get my $81.95 back after I opened a dispute. If I hadn't checked my statements, I would've been charged $81.95 extra for nothing!
I use this app for work expenses along with other users in the company I work for. Improvements needed: 1. It would be nice If I could add my receipts pictures while charges are pending. 2. And be able to add notes/discrimination to my recipients. 3. And be able to zoom into receipts.
App works perfectly ! I can see everything about my accounts in just a few clicks. So far the updates have fixed alot of issues from the past. Deleting the old app and installing the updated version seemed to fix all the issues.
Absolutely pointless app It will NOT show you useful information, for example it shows balance but not today's balance nor yesterdays balance... You have to calculate the actual balance using the available credit - what ever your card limit is... No clue what data this app is providing but it is not useful... It's 2022 and amex can't figure out how to make a mobile app 🤷
Having used this app, I can keep tract of my spending, use the automatic card payment which is much better than trying to remember when payment is do... Having the option to freeze or lock my card in case I lost, is another option and when card is used I get alerted as to what is bought.. GREAT APP!
So I recently switched phones and when I did so I lost the fingerprint login. I reset my password and was able to login to the browser, but when I log in the app it says it's the wrong username and password. I've tried multiple times with still same results, not sure what's going on. This will make submitting payments very inconvenient.
The interface is very annoying. When you scroll up, it constantly opens a page that displays your card and balance. The page is not useful, redundant, unnecessary, and ruins an otherwise decent app. 11/17/2021 - still no change to the annoying interface 4/05/2022 annoying UI still constantly jumps to displaying my card by itself with no other useful info.
Applied with wrong address and will probably never get the card, the phone support said they'd cancel it and update with correct address but they lied through their teeth. Address was never corrected. Can't update address without cvc but that's impossible if I never get the card. Don't apply for an Amex card it's pretty much a scam
I really like the updated Amex app... Letting me know about new and easy options to pay bills . And purchases... . and showing just the info i need from a quick look and or detailed transaction info .. love it!!
AmEx app still lags years after other banking apps expanded capabilities. For example, Discover has offered combined credit card, savings and checking account access, and full functionality, through a single app since 2017. AmEx only allows you to view an online savings accounts via their app, but no ability to add or withdraw funds. That's really not much benefit since you still have to visit their website to directly manage your savings account.
The app doesn't work!!! I have the latest version and for weeks now it says our systems are unreachable... Amex! Pull it the f up!
Unwieldy interface, and frankly, the unfriendliness doesn't end there. The verbiage is downright rude and high-handed at times, and the practice of sending a payment reminder AFTER a payment had been made is an especially annoying feature. I have a PERFECT payment record with AMEX and they still treat me like dirt. Not recommended.
Something changed in the last day or two. The app will no longer remember my phone. It insists on two step notification on the same device where I login with a fingerprint and it's the device that receives the two step code. What's the point if fingerprint login is being used. Moving the slider to turn on remember this device gives a message that the device can't be remembered. Why?
App just crashes when I open it. Shows the Amex background screen then closes. Repeated App keeps stopping warning even after selecting close app. Android 11. UPDATE: App won't let you open if you are behind a VPN. Had to expose my device to a public IP address to get it to open and accept the terms. Immediately went back behind my VPN and could log in.
They've been great for years . Easy to navigate and awesome customer service team. I only wish that they weren't so quick at revoke your well earned reward points due to my purse bring stolen and debit card attached to make auto payments had to be canceled. Didn't have my card number to log in to acct. Then parents passed away and I had forgotten all about it . Was late on one, maybe 2 payments and somehow went from 500something in reward dollars to 56.I was excited to learn how many had had😔
Comically bad. Clearly they never bothered to test this before releasing it. Nothing but bugs and error messages. Can't even get a card activated or app login setup. The app should be the easiest part of this. Canceling the card and sticking eith Discover.
Does not work for business customers. AMEX getting rid of their business app for this is a mistake. Cannot see the receipts I attach unless I got into each individual transaction. Cannot create reports for monthly spending. Just a few examples. I don't know how AMEX can imagine this switch servers their business card customers in any way.
Payment due date is the hardest thing to find in the app... Not sure if they want you to miss the payment.
Tried to sign up in the app. Entered my account information and it said invalid. Double checked it and tried again. Said invalid. Triple checked it and tried it again said invalid and then locked my account. Called customer service and the non US customer service agent wanted to argue with me about my account being locked and ultimately she couldn't unlock it. I just got this card, it's my first AMEX experience and I'm not impressed. Do yourself a favor, skip AMEX and go to capital 1 instead.
You will never be able to sign in. No matter what I do, uninstall to re-install, change the password TWICE. I can never sign into the app. I can on the website though. So the app is literally a waste of your time. Don't use it.
App is clean and has always been reliable for me. However I have two major pet peeves: - As an authorized cardholder, I see the parent account's amount due, instead of mine, when I go to make a payment, even though I can only see my own transactions. - Recent Activity/Recent Charges does not apply credits/refunds. Thus, I have to calculate the running balance of the current month by hand.
