Amino Acid Structure Quiz/Card

Helped me a ton, but to improve I think I'd make it so that you need to type the name instead of select the letters, because that made it a little too easy. Also a way to make you draw the named amino acid, so you remember how to do that too. Overall very good, lots of varied types of quizzes which helped.

PROS: it's amazingly effective. Many different ways of teaching you the AAs. CONS: The top left game of "fill in the blank" is way too easy. If you have a molecule and aren't sure if it's valine or leucine all you have to do is see if the letter V is available. I wish it were just a simple QWERTY keyboard and not a collection of letters. Also the number of spaces given tells you how many letters is in the name of the molecule, just make it a single line and dont tell us how many letters it has

i had much fun trying to beat the time limited game, i used the app actively for like 3 days for the 20 common amino acids and now i memorized them perfectly i genuinely recommend this app, it helped a lot :)

I totally love these apps. I use them to memorize new things to keep my brain stimulated. The timed games keep me engaged, always trying to beat my best score. Awesome!!

Very nice app! Would be cool if you could also implement a quiz for the pKa values and side chain types for the proteinogenic amino acids. A flash card quiz would also be nice!

just had to jump in with the multiple choice questions. within 40 minutes I was able to name all 20 common amino acids within 60 seconds. certainly didnt think Id get here during a night, let alone an hour. 5/5.

Effective

It is kind of ok. I love the format and the idea. However, the nitrogen group and carboxyl groups will never be - NH2 and -COOH, at same time. Plus, for Biochemistry, the pH that they should be memorized by is the average human pH of about 7.4. This means the Nitrogen group should be -NH3 with a positive charge and the Carboxyl group should be -COO with a negative charge. -COOH deprotonates at pka=2.6 - any pH above this has it missing the hydrogen (proton). -NH3 pka=9.2 below cannot be deprotonated.

It's very useful for studying amino acids, however, there is no way to only study the proteomic amino acid in the quiz which I find kind of annoying because I only need to know the proteomic amino acids.
