Glad to see it's not just me that's dealing with the connection issue. Just in the last month it's been really bad. Connecting, disconnecting, plugging, unplugging. I have the recommended cord as I purchased this when I was having previous issue and it corrected it. I love the concept of Android Auto but these glitches are nuts. I've also went through all the trouble shooting and the issues continue. I'm really hoping it can be more consistent as it's really helpful.
Galaxy s22- Most functions work well. But, when I receive calls it runs and shows on screen, but when I answer it's not coming thru the car. I have to turn the Bluetooth off and on again to get the car going thru the car. Also, there should be a screen to enable me to adjust the different volumes. If I turn up the volume to my music, but the voice comes on for directions it changes the volume for the voice. Then I can't turn that down until it comes on again.
I've been using A-Auto since 2019. It has made driving easier over the years and I really love basically never having to look at or pick up my phone while I'm driving, it interfaces well with the 2018 model I had and is great on the 2021 model I have now. My only complaint is it's buggy, not enough to be prohibitive, but regularly enough that I expect problems to happen. It's a valuable tool, despite its crashes or freezes. My other issue is that I can't open Google Maps on my phone at the same.
This is surprisingly good, but it has a slight learning curve and takes a minute to get used to. Much better than most (if not all) OEM interfaces, and is clean. My only gripe is that it has to be connected via USB cable, and most USB ports in cars that are enabled for data transfer aren't high wattage ports so charging is slow as hell. But the app is very much worth using, especially if your car has integrated support.
Well, it doesn't work more often than it works now. It's GREAT...when it works... it stops connecting at random times during my drive and then says device is not supported and I have to unplug my phone and reconnect it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... really frustrating when I'm using maps to get to my destination. Otherwise I really like the ease of use, the Google assistant feature and having a map display in my '09 forester!
glad to be able to access GPS, bluetooth, texts, and phone calls hands-free while driving my 2021 nissan. but recently the app has been suddenly disconnecting at least twice each 30 minute commute. sometimes it reconnects quickly while others, a message on my car's screen asks if I want to reconnect. (duh, yes!) last week I lost about 10 minutes in a commute because this happened just before I was supposed to take an exit in an unfamiliar area. not cool. please address this. thank you!
I really like the app when it's working right. Sometimes it's first class compliant other times it has a mind of its own and won't work at all. But for the most part I do like as it definitely ads a touch of class to my midsize car. Unfortunately, the Google map on my phone is far more accurate than the AA map which tend to direct me in circles in the regular. Please fix this as I need my GPS feature for work. Thanks😒
Took me a while to get into using the app. but having done so I like it. It works well with my Pixel 6/new Berlingo combo. I particularly like the satellite map display and the ease with which the app integrates with Audible, my must have app while driving alone. I would like to be able to clear the screen of extraneous detail; all those boxes take a lot of screen space and block the map detail.
I've had great experience with this app. Heads up to everyone who has problems with syncing and disconnects, it could be your cable. I had the same issues and was troubleshooting all over the map until someone finally recommended I get a better cable. I splurged on a good cable (Anker, and no I'm not affiliated at all), and since then everything has been running smoothly :)
I hesitate with this because I don't know if my problem is with Android Auto or with the cars. Everything has been great but for two different rental cars wherein it cut out in the middle of my drive. In one, I was able to resume service by stopping and restarting the car and my phone (I had to do this multiple times), but with the other car I was not able to fix it. It wasn't the cable because both times I bought new ones just to be sure. When it actually works, Android Auto is great.
Easy to connect in the car, I like the option of driving mode tho not a requirement, lov how a podcast will pick up where you left off when you get back in the car. Hate that you cannot disconnect, turning off Bluetooth disconnects then reconnects automatically. It's so frustrating, there used to be a one click disable that's now gone. And while I appreciate safety features, when I am the passenger using my map and I want to look up something else, my maps are disabled on my phone.
Would rate higher if the "Launching Error" issue wasn't so prevalent while trying to navigate. I travel a lot for work in unfamiliar areas so it's important for me to be as hands free as possible which is kind of hard to do when I constantly have to reconnect to the app. Update: Over a year since I posted this review. I decided to come back and see if anything had changed. Unfortunately the launching errors and random disconnections are still quite prevalent. I can't recommend
Permissions are weird, and hard to figure out. I had to enable developer mode and set to always transfer files to get it to start reliably. Also, some permissions were buried in Google Assistant (and hard to find), and the app keeps bugging me about granting my car permissions to read my messages. When it works, it's pretty cool. But in 2022, it shouldn't be this hard to grant permission and make it work.
It works reasonably well for what I need it for, just at weird times it will disconnect which is a bummer. But I am assuming it is because some sort of jammer since it usually is in the same part of town every time. Well except that time when it was really backed up in traffic. Also it has a lag with pausing or switching audio. Other than that it works well enough I don't have too much to complain about.
It's an ok start but it has been around a while so.... I appreciate that it's supposed to make things easier while driving but it does truncate a lot of features and apps that would be useful. I would love to shuffle all of my songs uploaded to YTM but I see no way to do that and trying to tell assistant to do it definitely doesn't do that. Also, it really needs to be opened up to weather radar apps. This would be highly useful driving across the prairie and front range states.
When it decides to work, it's great. But it has stopped working with increasing frequency, as of late. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times, but it didn't help. It randomly crashes or just refuses to connect to my car, even when it was just connected a few minutes prior. Currently, the app is not even showing as installed on my phone, but Google Play store says it is. I cannot use the app AT ALL. This issue needs to be corrected ASAP.
I have used android auto for years now and have never had an issue. Well, up until recently. Now it will cut out every so often (getting more regular). I've tried rebooting the app both on my phone and in my truck.. seemed to have helped a little, but then I needed to unplug my phone and the next time I plugged it in and hit the android auto app, I get a black screen. It's completely unusable now. So that's cool.. My phone won't even connect to Bluetooth.
I will give it two stars because when it does work I love it. It was working great for a significant period of time, but then it just stopped connecting in the car. I tried new cables, cleaning USB port, restarting my phone, deleting data from car, uninstalling and re-installing Android auto, and still it will not connect. Really a bummer because I like the app, but when it will no longer works it becomes more of a hindrance than anything. So now I'm just using Bluetooth and the uConnect system
Usually I love this app and the conveniece of being able to safely and effectively manage my phone in my car. However, I only gave it a 4 because periodically it just will not work or it acts very odd and goes on and off, not staying connected to the car. I have tried basic trouble shooting and nothing has fixed it. I would love if this was fixed and is the only issue I have with the app. Otherwise, amazing app, encouraging safety while driving and super convenient.
When it works, it's great. There will be weird times out of the blue where the "device is not supported" screen continuously pops up on my cars dashboard. Nothing seems to help except not using it to drive for a day or two and then hoping for the best. Fix the connection issues, it shouldn't be this tedious and trying to have a similar experience to Apple carplay.
When connecting to my car, a lot of the time it doesn't want to if i have any other apps running on my phone, or even notifications in then push bar. It will load slow or ill have to disconnect it several times before it will work. Sometimes my music will stop playing after a song, so i have to pause it to let it catch up Before pressing play again. But when the app IS working as intended, its a very helpful tool.
I'm not sure if it's the Android auto app or the music streaming apps. I would like it better if there was more of a background on my screen showing either cd cover, song or something related to the music. Most of the time it's tiny info on a black screen. Seems like wasted space and being able to see it easier at a glance would be safer while driving.
It's not perfect, but it does what I need it to do. I just got a car that has this enabled and have been using it for maps and music. Sometimes the music will cut out briefly, almost like a skip.. but it comes back in fairly quick, and happens whether streaming or playing from my phone's storage. The maps function has been great, I've always used Google maps for my travel and it's great to have it integrated into the dash instead of having to use a phone holder.
It suppouse to be a helpfull app, but too bad it still has so many bugs. I have problem to connect and reconnect my phone. It freezes alot. While driving with the Waze app, it quit by it self and the music was on by it self. My car display was being unreponsive because of it. I have to unplug and plug my phone again, and sometimes i have to restart my phone.
