As others have stated, generally find that it breaks things with each update. Benefit of the doubt, I'll assume it's necessary breaks for security in best case scenario, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating to manipulate and troubleshoot with 0 communication or indicators where the webview is in use of conflicts/issues/errors etc. It's often just guessing, rolling back an update, perform what I need, and then update to current again after.

Like a lot of people I had the problem where Google Chrome and this app would not update. I eventually found through an article in the Daily Express that you need to go to your settings. Select apps & notifications > Google Play Store > Storage & cache > Clear Data. Once I did this I was able to update both no problem.

As usual Google apps always the reason most of my apps are crashing and broken after every update. And even some ads video weren't even on full screen mode anymore, but almost out of sight, that I couldn't even close it. Had to log out of the app to close the broken ads. To disable this app is not an option, because the apps says it needs this to "work".

So the latest update (09.05.22) won't finish installing, ever, due to unknown and unidentified reasons. Judging by the reviews same issue occured for many users yet there's no hotfix as of now. Amazing if you take in the fact this packet is crucial for core OS features. Regarding the necessity of updating this component in order to maintain a higher security level is ridiculous, considering the whole catastrophe Android One (and any Android platform bare few exceptions) turned out to be.

Useless app that makes it hard to use installed apps as the default behaviour is to open the link in webview. There is absolutely no speed gain at least on higher end devices, but it messes up the UI and for some reason is treated as more important than the dedicated apps on your device. There is also no way to disable it from ever appearing in Play store.

Much better ... Phone freezes about every 2 to 4 minutes, stays Frozen 30-40 seconds and then I get a menu where I can click wait and it'll start again. Very frustrating to use a nice phone with that bad operating system. How many times can you try to fix this and have it not work.

Not well tested. A recent update broke the aspect ratio of several apps on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3). Now those apps are unusable because of poor QA on Google's end. And to force a specific aspect ratio across all devices is just lazy coding. It is something you learn in school, that this isn't good to do. Yet here we are. So it was poorly coded, missed in code reviews and missed in testing. It makes me think the last 2 didn't happen. Strong work Google.

I never did any updates on my old phone and it lasted me 7 years with no problems, as a matter of fact I still have it and it still works. But I was told you should do all the updates so I do and EVERY time a different app either stops working properly or my phone just drops calls or doesn't function at all! I'm so done with these useless prying updates....all of them!

I'm in a tough spot. My fully functional Chromebook has been messed up because of glitches in the updates. I'm unable to update this latest. It keeps rolling Pending and doesn't update. This needs to be fixed. This isn't a mistake I've made. My Chromebook is useless to me if the mandatory updates are unable to fix the system.

Apps and games stop working or have characters as if it can't load the graphics correctly if I keep the page open for 10 mins with out anything else then the page will finally load. It's not worth updating I'm going to uninstall and then see what happens I have the moto g pure my old phone was a moto g stylus 2020 and I loved it till the battery just went no water damage used the same cord from day one, i had it unlocked and did the update and boom switched carriers and it stopped working!

I too have a Pixel 2 and experienced the same problem as other recent reviewers when trying to install the update for this application and for Chrome. It is easily solved. Go to Settings/Applications/Google Play Services/Storage and there clear Data and Cache. Both now update without the unable to install problems.

This app is horrible it changes your settings even when you tell it not to you can disable it and it will enable itself it will start connecting and disconnecting your USB on its own and you will constantly get notifications even if you uninstall and block the entire app it will still continue doing so this app is not good at all

most recently, it has taken priority over all other updates and claimed to not have wifi access even when i am connected to wifi. it blocks all other apps from updating until it is updated, but refuses to update. i have 100+ pending updates.

The best thing you can do with this app is to unistall it and while it never really uninstalls, at least it goes back to its un updated form. This app constantly crashes my Outlook app. If there was a way that you could take this app into the backyard and shoot it, I certainly would.

Since I updated it's totally messed my phone up!! First thing to go wrong was my phone told me my mobile date had been turned off and it wouldn't let me turn it back on.. told me I had no SIM in!! I managed to sort it as I turned it off and on and so far it's ok.. but it's messed everything up on my phone to the point my phone keeps crashing!!! ¯\_ಠ_ಠ_/¯

This app will make ur Play Store app inoperable. Once this app updated on my phone my play store app was in a never ending spinning circle. I couldn't access any of my apps and I did all of the troubleshooting techniques with no success. Once I did a factory reset and turned off automatic updates I am finally able to use the play store normally.

Causes issues anytime I update it. I can't ever seem to open my SUBSCRIBED news emails website from the email after updates which is majorly annoying and this is just the beginning of the list of annoying issues this app causes. I honestly haven't figured out the point of it other than having an app to update to annoyingly break your phone! 🤬

After update, both samsung android phones lost my specified Chromecast "room" using spectrum app. All other aps show up Hulu, Tubi, peacock show up in specified room able to cast. Uninstalled update on one phone, boom! my room showed up. The newer phone, will not show because I can't uninstall just the update, or haven't figured out how. Spectrum was clueless, said phone not compatible. All three? All different types? Idiots.

Every time this updates another batch of apps start getting janky. This time it overrides labs on my Z fold 3 so aspect ratios on a handful of apps are all a mess, and when the chip can't compensate the phone crashes. So what invariably happens is google updates this turd, breaks your phone, all the app developers figure out how to work around it, just in time for Google to take another dump.

First and foremost, this app just randomly closes my web browser, chrome, every single time I go onto a website. And, personally it really annoying, it'll go of randomly without any warning whatsoever, I have tried so many times to make it work. Please fix this.

I never thought I would be actually seriously thinking about switching to Apple! But I do gig work and with this ALWAYS causing slow running and crashes, it's probably time to say goodbye to Android. Edit 3/10/22.... What the hell are you developers doing? I didn't think it was possible but this last update made it WORSE!!!

The current version of this app causes apps to scale incorrectly on my Samsung phone. Despite having uninstalled the update and set it to NOT auto update it continues to do so, forcing me to have to go back and MANUALLY uninstall the update every few days.

Yes, it is nice to see all your systems settings. What isn't so nice is that this is a replacement phone for my damaged old one. Should be much the same, but it isnt. This phone is giving me error messages on my most used ap Tesla. My old phone, no problem opening it - new phone, every time I open the Tesla ap, it says, "cant copy to clipboard". Ive cleard Gboard and lots of other so called fixes and nothing works. This phone is useless with out being able to use the Tesla ap. So not impresed

Since the last updated there is so many bug. 1. My phone draining battery so fast, 2. Auto booting if start video call, 3. Auto booting when multiple app opened. 4. Error for every opened app.

Worst app ever! Does show update but does NOT update easily. You have to try, and try, and try, until one of these repeated tries results in getting updated. Apparently, it has something to do with google chrome, but it's so messed up that doesn't recognize I've disabled & don't use it. On the other hand, it's a system app, & I don't have much choice but to update it. I wish I could give NO STAR. Really hate it! Really hate you for forcing this f*@%ed up app onto my device.

This app along with chrome have failed to update for months, tried every method listed for troubleshooting and even went as far as factory resetting my phone and still no luck. My devices have began acting sluggish ever since and now this app along with google are coming off sketchy to say the least. Every single other app updates no problem it's specifically this app and chrome that do this. Good job google way to keep it sketchy.

Many of us never want web pages to open in app, we want them to open in Chrome so you can return to them later. BS 'feature' they know best, so it's forced on you and adds extra taps to select "Open in Chrome" every time. Most developers are just making things worse these days, you're not smarter than those who came before you. Get over yourself and learn to factory.

This app refused to update and in the process prevents Google Chrome from doing likewise. Finally I managed to update both after deleting cache, storage and uninstalled previous updates. But this seems to be a recurring issue with this app
