Had the recent issue where all apps stopped working that used webview. I took the standard update the next day, which was better, but still had issues. For instance, if I was in gmail, the last email content would overlay the email listings partially, blocking all navigation. I had to close the app and reopen to proceed. This beta version seems to work better. No issues so far.
Couldn't describe how stable it is. Seriously, you should download this version than the original "Android System WebView" Google has published. How can this app be faster than the actual final release? Made my games, apps, browsers much faster. Here is a you should change in the app to get the best performance. Update the components. Go to more options on the top right, and select Components. Turn off On-Demand Update and update the components. You're done, enjoy!
It's amazing how far we've come from the very first version of this app. Keeping updates current is a must
I could not be more thankful for this version of the app, changing to this literally saved my games and apps from crashing due to the other "stable" webview app updates
App is very stable. Experimental features are enabled and works well with Pixel 2 XL. Love anything Google.
You've made my game completely unusable. Thanks for that. If it opens it crashes every 5 minutes.
This install works when the standard latest webview won't install. The problem is some services still won't work properly. It only works because it allows you to use the last version that worked on your phone and for me that is well over a year old. My phone works with version 80 and the latest version is in the 90's already. I'm using samsung galaxy s10+ My phone was still new when this stopped working.
Until we hear a comment from Google about the notorious freezing of Webview on Android 10 devices, even just an acknowledgement that the issue exists and it's being looked into, this gets 1 star from me. Frequent freezing on my OnePlus (about once every 5 minutes, I get 2 on average during a 10 minute video) makes this completely unusable. Hopefully this 1 star review will help to raise awareness of the issue and drives Google to comment on it. Until it is fixed I am forced to use Firefox only.
Android System WebView Beta is still kinda buggy it should be updated and fixed more often it makes some apps on my Android 11 phone freak out. I think I'll stick with the regular pre installed version of Android System WebView for now.
Thankyou google, now i can play rpgm ero games more smoothly.
Great. Now if I could only get my pics back...after last Android update lost all media files and contacts. Problem seemed to be in the updated Webview. Seeing no other option I've downloaded the Beta. Managed to restore my contacts but most of my media files I can't find or an account has been changed using a variant Gmai address off my main, will have to call support. Tried all week and I'm at the brink of frustration so I've waited to breath before I involved support. This Beta seemed ...
Nothing has changed as of May 13, 2021. My emails and some apps are not showing anything on the screens. And the email connected to the development team does not work. This version does not allow me to see my emails and many other web pages that apps produce.
Not updating has the same problem as the regular Android system webview with the Samsung Galaxy Note10 plus. Whats the deal? Why is it so hard to fix bugs with the system thats the only reason I downloaded this in beta and now same issues. This makes me ill to my stomach to say this but if it keeps up I'm going to have to switch to apple 🍎 plz don't make me switch...........
I'm a little conflicted, some stuff seems to work better, some things worse. When it enhances my we views, it's really clean. I don't know exactly too what I should try out all the way, and what features might interact negatively. It might be good if you contacted me and asked me to try certain things out. I have a Samsung S20.
Same as android 10 screen freeze, but I'm intrigued , when I was trialing the Beta android 10 and few other beta , had no problems , but since general release problems with them , that never happened on the beta. I thought Beta testing was to correct the issues before releasing not create them .
Im a bit comfused... Should i update inbuilt webview for components while having this beta?? Or is this a Stand alone app??
Satisfied based upon the fact that it's a beta software. I havent had any issues out of it.
Hello, could you please maybe fix some of my apps. Some of them aren't working or installing.
I will love to have access to all my apps
Bug in updates. Works ok, but gets stuck in system as maim WebView. Isn't being recognized even after original WebView is taken out.
I would give it zero if I could. This is appalling. I've been at this for hours. I have to use data which presumably is the reason it is not downloading. Pending ever time and then cancels. Eventually managed to download. Now I have a new app that is crashing.
Couldn't get an app to run, uninstalled this and it suddenly starts working. This app breaks other apps
This app is NOT intended to speed up phones!! Duh!! This app is more inline with DEVELOPMENTAL purposes, your phone's are crashing because YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! Sorry, but I'm tired of reading this perpetual nonsense constantly, ugh!Personally, I use this as intended, but then again I'm not an average Android user. I'm a Google freak, tech freak, Android lovin' Pixel freak who owns a Pixel 5, and use this app to push it further. Guess what.. Pixels can handle anything you give em!
I'm using so Google Pixel 2 XL and I'm not able to do the update due to the fact that it wants me to change my provider which makes it difficult for me to download chromium and do the shell I can't do with my on my own I'm getting ready to upgrade my phone to a different Android it's just impossible for me to keep the maintenance on this on the cell phone
New release broke all my WebView apps
This is the 2nd update that really works, Keep this kind of updates it really feels fast, same fast on my built-in custom rom webview, it really works on my Gpu driver acceleration and i feel it supported my device. Im a rom Dev to; to check if the webview perform well play the simple solitaire game in the Google "Play Games" App move the cards very fast if there is not much delay on the cards you swipe means the webview support Gpu acceleration, Basic. hope i help your devs too.
