Was hoping this would be low impact alternative to the now bloated es file explorer but this was unable to resolve smb device name and when given the static ip number the app promptly crashed when attempting to initially load the shared public folder. Guess there is no point keeping it as there seems to have been no dev activity this year to resolve these bugs.
I've been using this app for some years on various Android phones and found it does exactly what I want it to do other than directly open files (they always download). I'm now also use it on my Chromebook because that machine's native SMB support won't connect to one of my shares for some reason.
Almost 8 years after the first release, and the app does what I expect it to and you even care to fix bugs. That's really awesome, thanks. Hope you are going to find time and resources to make ui look more "modern", though
Works on 9. I thought 'Browse and transfer intents are available for third party applications.' would mean some share access in 3rd party apps but that doesn't seem to be the case. I guess I misunderstood.
Very useful app to sync photos, vidoes and doc to external storage. If you wish to see thumbnail of a photo whole syncing then go to settings and change view to "Grid (filename only). Works like a charm and its free. Great app. Kudos to developers.
Has a number of issues to solve to be a good SMB client. Crashes frequently on browsing paths with large number of files or folders. Lacks copy and paste between directories on the SMB server. File Expert is now my go to SMB client because it works.
Useful, convenient and reliable, but file dates are shown wrong (e.g. 5th January appears as 1st May) because only some foreign date format is used. Fails to save settings between sessions if the app is stored on the SD card rather than in the phone's native memory. Doesn't understand IPv6 addresses, so have to open IPv4 holes in the server's firewall as well as the IPv6 holes opened for existing apps on our VPN.
Pile of junk. Downloaded in attempt to move photographs from phone to home shared storage. the app is complete nonsense: folders seems to be hardcoded on login, keeps restarting the upload from the beginning, no "move" functionality, no select destination folder functionality.
Great app, but i actually installed it because I wanted to mount network shares into android phone folders. Would be great if u could add such option. The best would be if shares would be automaticly mounted if any file browser or other app accesses the local mount target folder.
This app used to be first class, but after the last update it's been extremely buggy and unusable. It frequently crashes and acts irrationally.
Could be worse. You really need to tinker to get it to work, and settings have to be EXACT or you will encounter weird issues. Works when it wants too.
Uninstalled. App did not work consistently and now it doesn't connect anymore at all. Other Samba apps or smbclient via cli work well. It's annoying because one may think something is wrong with the Samba settings but it is this app that something is wrong with.
UI is not intuitive. I can grant permission to access the sd card, but can't ever select it. I can see contents on the smb mount and the internal storage, but the ui appears to have overlooked the SD card.
Keep getting access denied even when double checking everything. It might be that the client can't encrypt it's traffic which i set to mandatory on my server. My review might not be that fair but the client claims to support smb3 which shouldn't have any problems with accepting encryptions. Maybe my guess is wrong but i still can't get in via this client.
This app can not write to my external SD card. It seems to not have permission to write to it, and I don't know how to give it permission. I had no problem accessing my network shares with it and I like the user interface, but since I can't write to the external SD card with it, it won't work for me. I hope the developer can fix this issue.
Seems to work well. I wish it would open files automatically. Maybe some tires are opened, but i didn't have great luck. But the client works fine.
Amazingly fast. I can upload pictures (scanned documents) almost instantly to a Linux station. File creation latency is low. You may have many destination servers and/or users configured.
The error messages are not helpful. Ultimately found that the shares on the laptop were read only and failed to upload files. Now everything is fantastic after giving write permissions to the share in the PC.
Simple to use samba client. However, beware of rotating your screen (with auto-rotate enabled) as it will restart any file transfer that you may be in the middle of.
Connects Ok by SMB from Ubuntu laptop to Ubuntu desktop using 192.168.1.12 (being static NAT address) for 'hostname' parameter. Connect fails from Android 9 phone to Ubuntu desktop using 192.168.1.12, both on same network, saying "The network name cannot be found". Used above 192.168.1.12 for Hostname. Can even ping 192.168.1.12 from phone. No reply to my email to support.
Useful for Admin people!! This is really only for people comfortable with Technology and file sharing activities. And if you need to move files over the network, or trouble shoot your shares, this is the best available.
There is some services which is required in this app. 1. Logs file missing after job complition. User should known via txt notepad what data deleted or coped. Text file need to save in sd card. 2. There is only Mirror syn option, so user need to specified option. Automatic service required like Mirror or Copy one Way or Copy Two Way. 3. FTP Sync also required in this app so that every user can use it via Computer or Modem.
It's a tiny, lightweight and bug-free app with tons of options that does what it's supposed to do efficiently and beautifully. I love it.
Works perfectly. Im able to save images directly to my file share from anywhere by using share with and selecting AndSMB.
Supercharge your user experience with this App by using Microsoft's Your Phone app in Windows 10 to run the AndSMB app on your phone. This makes it easier to navigate through the file structures at both ends of the transaction.
Wonderful app, I've used it for more than a year. Before and after the score keeps being 5.0. The ones who score it with less perhaps didn't know the concepts of samba. I have used it successfully with Linux Ubuntu, Windows 10, and Windows 7
No DFS support. For an app whose sole purpose is SMB client connections, this is an imperative. Also, no ability to access /Android/data on Android 11. And, no root option.
They haven't made any improvements or fixes to this app for many years now. And sdcard access still broken on newer android devices. The losers can't even fix that. Sad. Could've been a good and useful app.
This program is complete garbage. It says it's connected to the server, but none of the folders or files show up at all. Promptly uninstalled.
After Android update J727VVRS2BRK1 on Nov 20, 2018 this app crashes when accessing folders on the SD card. Remote access seems to work. Since I store all my photos on the SD card, that makes the app useless to me for uploading photos. I rebooted the phone, reinstalled AndSmb, all to no avail. Phone is Samsung SM-J727V, Android 8.1.0.
