Angband Variants

It's great except multiple times now on my note 3 my Sil save has been corrupted, it says bad player position, 0,0, and starts a new game. Basically impossible to play this way. Reproduced it by minimizing the game while in the menu screen (after save and quit). The game tries to autosave when in the menu and it corrupts the game save I believe. Basically, never exit out of your character.

Love the idea of playing some of these games on my phone, but the ui is pretty bad. Touch directionals aren't very responsive and would prefer to use my own keyboard instead of the built in one. Or make a scrolling keyboard like the great nethack and unnethack ports on the market.

Nice, especially since the original TOME is hard to find on the PC. And, of course, the other variants are also great: Sil, SAngband, Steamband, and NPPAngband are all incredible variants. Still, this is the Android Operating System were talking about. Playing this on a phone is awkward as hell, even with a physical slide out keyboard. This will be best enjoyed on a tablet, though it's still on a despite the awkwardness.

Faithful ports of the desktop games onto Android. I really enjoyed Steamband and ToME; they and Hengband are my favorite variants of Angband. The screen is a little cramped (playing on a Samsung Galaxy S5) but it is still fairly playable.

Great to have all these games on mobile! The controls are obviously not great but I would love to the see mouse support in nppangband as touch support. Also tiles would awesome. I love that they are adding games like Sil but some improvements on interface and control would be amazing!

The devs really got lazy on this one. Every part of the game is a letter or punctuation from a keyboard. You can't pull this type of stuff in the 21st century. It's not even good enough to be considered retro, and I know retro games.

But can't open the app anymore after I tried to open up steamband, keeps crashing. Forced to reinstall. Lost all progress. Edit: after updates now SIL did the exact same thing. Ffs.

I like playing on my phone, I miss this game. Trouble targeting enemies off screen (but they can target you :() Also please add parentheses "(" for android keyboard as it has functionality in rougelike key set.

Beautiful ascii! Though the gameplay is a bit slow and requires some time to learn, the variety of possible character commands, character builds and the vastness of the landscape makes this game incredible. Whether you are a classic RL player, RPG person, Tolkien enthusiast, or all of the above, this game's for you.

Thrilled to see that it has Sil. It would be cool to see ADoM added too. It's too bad you can't choose what keyboard you want to use but I think I'll survive.

Would really love a more configurable keyboard, a transparent one like on Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup would be excellent

Press and hold on the screen to choose your variant. Controls are on screen keyboard, not the greatest. Some of the best games ever created.

So this is epic. But for people trying to change the variant you hold down on the middle of the screen to open the quick settings menu.

Like I did, the games are amazing, but stitching between all the keyboards to find each character, tedious can it be hmm yes

New version has even added Sil, which is arguably the best non-traditional Angband variant.Thanks to the author for making these available at no cost. Only way this could be better would be by adding Halls of Mist, and maybe Hengband or Quickband/TinyAngband.

Heck, I'd give it 5 stars for Sangband alone. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, and the run/walk options especially, but it's still worth it.

I cannot play. When installing the files, it appears: 'Error:failed to install files to sdcard (Permission denied) If you tell me a solution to fix this and I'm able to play, I will review 5 stars.

Same problem as other text-based games, the orientation isn't very user friendly.

There are some characters, like (, that are inaccessible. It would also be nice if punctuation were available by long pressing on keys, rather than switching keyboard tabs.

Best roguelikes ive found for android so far. Good battery performance for long gaming sessions sans charger.

Old T.O.M.E on smartphones, what can be better for a lazy long play...

Great, so far the only way to play ToME, the original is impossible to find, this might be as well the last original available in the whole internet

Took a while to learn interface, but I'm enjoying NPPAngband even more than Moria!

Can we please get an updated version of sil as well? I love 1.1.1 but it would be nice to compete with everyone who has 1.3

Would like the ability to re-zone the touch directionals to something more sane.

Please could you make the keys similar Martins Descent? That game has the best layout for a game of this type. Please?

Cant save always gets Save File . . . Error

Just wish I could change the keyboard.
