The ANOVA Sous vide itself is wonderful. However, the app is not reliable at all. When it works, it's very straightforward and well designed, but it almost never works effectively. The only recommendation to address these issues has been to try reinstalling the app or pairing my device again. The app loses connectivity with my sous vide frequently and is constantly coming up with errors. The app has made me look into competing brands in several occasions. FIX YOUR APP PLEASE!
I need an app to use my anova, not to advertise recipes at me. it also forgets the sous vide exists every time your phone falls asleep and has to reconnect. this app could and should be reduced to a temperature knob, a timer, and a start button that also functions as a pause or stop. everything else is worthless and annoying. I would've kept all the to myself but it pops up every. single. time. I try to cook something asking me for a rating.... so here you go I hope you like it
Make sure your Bluetooth is on but connect to your ANOVA using the app instead of Bluetooth settings. Connection's a little weak if you move more than 4 feet away. The tips/tricks/recipes are slow to load. Otherwise it's all amazing app! What a great way to set, time and measure temperature and time. There are hundreds of thousands of recipes.
Great app, works well, never have connection issues. Only complaint is that I wish there were more recipes. tends to be several of basically the same thing. Would also be nice to have some charts showing things like meat, egg, chicken doneness at different times/temps so you could quickly/easily decide how done you want it.
There's a lag in communication between my Precision Cooker and the app. The current temperature on the app is lagging behind that on the cooker. Sometimes a window pops up telling me to try again because the app and cooker have lost their connection. Tried deleting/reinstalling app and clearing settings in cooker to reestablish a fresh connection. Despite this the problem still persists. No issues prior to the latest app update.
App worse than 2 years ago! WiFi connectivity is unreliable and constantly get Something went wrong, try again message. Have reinstalled app, rebooted wifi router twice. Blutooth connects quickly, wifi takes minutes. Changing temp or cook time from cell gets Try Again message. Shutting down app and restarting seems to re-establish connection. When I first used Anova Blutooth and WiFi with iriginal app all worked reliably... but not anymore. Pls fix.
Having to create an account in order to connect via wi-fi is unacceptable. Old versions of the app didn't require this. I will be searching for an old version of the app to use. I own the cooker outright & shouldn't have to log in to an account in order to use it on wi-fi. Very Orwellian of ANOVA to require an account.
pretty good app. would be better if it was WiFi rather than just Bluetooth and notifications when the time is up would be good, but overall it lets you control your sous vide stick!
Generic Google Pixel 5, brand new app installation, restarted phone. App is unable to connect to the ANOVA Precision Cooker. Multiple tries, multiple installs, multiple restarts. Entering code works, phone connects to the device wifi, says connected, but then just spins saying connecting and times out with error "something came up. The application has cancelled the request to choose a device". This is 1st grade stuff. Obviously no QA and testing. Get the app to connect. Vacuum sealer also DOA.
From time to time, the app becomes unresponsive. Usually, I simply restart the app. Today, I had to unplug unit and restart app to get it to work. This has happened ever since I purchased. I must say, that when it works, it works great.
Great device and temperature is very accurate. Cooks meat perfectly every time, all you need to do is finish it in a pan or grill for perfect browning/searing. I may upgrade to a better Anova so I can cook complete meals.
This app doesn't work on Pixel 6 phone. You can't connect to Anova Pro cooker using Bluetooth connection. I had to user another phone to connect cooker with the WiFi, then I was able yo use it on Pixel 6 phone.
Overall good. Some streaks take longer and are not as tender. it would be nice if Anova had the temperature and time settings for the different types of steaks.
app fails to update. can't always find the recipes on the app that you can on the site, which takes you to the app. lots of improvements can implemented which I expect when spending £400+ on a machine
I've always seen other people on youtube use them and I couldn't wait to try it myself. Extremely versatile! juiciest steak, pork loin, chicken and EVEN DESSERT! yes, I said it! dessert! I'm not sure if anova has a motto or not but if they dont it should be "Perfect every time!"
Good app. I wish I could change the completed cook sound. The default sound is barely noticeable.
The app is decent and works well. The major downside is that you cannot customize recipes and save them - you're stuck with the recipe as written
it's alright. how you interface with the device should be improved. like having a imported recipe not start the timer immediately as it heats up
Great product. My only complaint is that it doesn't connect to Google home. Not sure about other smart home apps.
App not syncing with unit, need to close the app and reopen to get the proper readings. Also app say not connected to unit when it is connected
the app is fine. the cooker itself has started making such a bad noise that I have to switch it off.
the app frequently disconnects from the device even when you leave your phone next to it. notifications of cooking completion from the app then cannot be relied upon to prevent you from overlooking your food.
Sous vide has revolutionized my cooking and overall meal flavor experience for the best. The app and corresponding cooker is by far a top 5 life recommendation for anyone and everyone.
So many drop out issues between the app and the device, can't set updates to time and temp half the time.
Works great! Mine has some issues when connecting over WiFi, but Bluetooth works fine.
a great way to cook to perfection. browning on the other hand needs a hot torch, or outside with a fry pan on a grill. Otherwise you will smoke up your kitchen.
It is great to be able to cook straight out of the recipes. Hope to see more recipes added into the app.
This is a pretty simple device, so one would expect it to just work. Instead, the software is so buggy and the documentation is so scarce that all you get is frustration. It took me hours of troubleshooting to even connect the thing to the network. What you don't know when you buy the device and what is not written anywhere in the documentation either is that: 1. it only works on 2.4Ghz networks, 2. the SSID can't contain any spaces, 3. your phone must be on the 2.4Ghz network as well, 4. the Anova has a very poor Wi-Fi antenna so you need to keep it really close to the access point. All of this would be so easy to fix with a software update or at least with a decent set-up guide. But what would be the fun in that?
