Category : Communication
It's a proprietary wireless standard that is basically same exact thing as Bluetooth. Entire first search page of Google is the Consortium trying to tell you how great it is. They say an advantage of it is that one device can transmit and multiple devices can read. That's not a breakthrough it's something every car radio has done since they were invented. Only an idiot would call this a driver its a third-party proprietary app that uses the Android cell and Wi-Fi radio drivers
ANT is a communication protocol like WiFi or Bluetooth, and allows your phone to connect to things like smart watches, activity trackers, studio bikes at the gym, even home-automation stuff. It is not Samsung specific, but some Samsung apps (and Garmin and Fujitsu and Adidas and Endomondo and ...) are enhanced by ANT technology. The size on my phone is less than 1MB - less than a single photo - so not exactly bloatware. This "app" allows the hardware to work so on a computer it's known as a "driver". Without it, features on your expensive phone will not work. If you don't update this app, some ANT devices you own may not work, or security leaks may not be fixed, leaving you unhappy. Apart from that the app has no features at all, it simply makes the hardware work so other apps can use it.
Garbage. When you uninstall. It doesnt disappear from your installed apps selection on play store. And the is also a plug in app that goes with it. When you uninstall any other app. It disappears from your list. And it wasnt preinstalled on my device. I downloaded from play store without reading reviews. If I had. I would have never installed.
Terrible app,, a must get rid of.. I am in a house that has excellent mobile serive all across the board. It's so good In this area, that I can even get a good signal 3 houses away on my list of available connections. However, on the tablet I have, it gets stuck in buffer mode in videos. Doing searches takes forever, I might as well use dial modems, it was faster.
All this does is help all of the devices in my house to connect even when they never have been. I hate there are not options to REALLY turn off some of the permissions. I do plan on throwing away most of my devices that do this.
Stay the hell off my phone! So it communicates like bluetooth with compatible devices? Awesome... Well I don't have any of those, but if I get any I will be sure to download something like this. Till then, don't put apps my phone I don't #$&€ing want... "Turn auto updates off." "ANT has updated itself, also it says $&+# you. You didn't hear it, because you don't own devices that use it."
This app radios everything you do to the cloud. Once it arrives, an AI adds it to the "you" data repository. From this it creates a picture of you that is more accurate than your self image. It will be able to predict how you will react to any possible situation. It knows how to modify your responses to achieve a desired outcome. The only way to opt out is to discard your phone.
I have an LG phone that did *not* come with this app pre-installed and unremovable. It also allows me to selectively accept permissions (i.e., Facebook doesn't have access to my media files). Zero bloatware. Decided to install 🐜+ for Endomondo (?), and maybe it will help with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Everyone here thinking Samsung and iPhone are the only two options have their heads in the digital cloud. Have fun spending thousands of 💰 💰 for compromised, unsecured devices.
The world is full of stupid people. This is an app that runs in the background and only when it's needed. It doesn't drain resources or battery. It's necessary to run the hardware for wireless functions. Without it you have a $600-$1200 slab of plastic and glass that doesn't do much of anything. If you don't want it... settings>apps>ant>force stop>yes>storage>clear data>yes>disable>yes. It's that simple. Be sure to come back to let us all know how things worked out. If you still can. Good luck.
I looked it up and all this is, from what I can tell, is something that helps fitness apps work on your phone. And that's kinda it lol. So you can absolutely just uninstall it without any problem Besides fitness apps won't work on your phone anymore.
The default sound setting of this app is set so low that I have to push the volume control to maximum in order to hear properly. However, the problem comes when I switch from it (the radio) to another audio app like t he music player or video player because I'd have pushed the volume so high that my eardrums are almost damaged by the sudden change in noise levels. Then I have to push the volume way down low to a comfortable level which is too low on the radio.
If its a driver, tell the user what ot does. Otherwise it literally hangs my entire app update queue and functions for multiple wearable bluetooth devices (which I don't own). If I could verify it's purpose or toggle it when I needed it's called functions, then we'd be getting somewhere. It seems pretty standard to ask a user if they would like to share their usage data to optimize the program, or maybe I'm just used to communication and open source programs.
I agree with all previous comments. I've tried to uninstall this and other unwanted apps several times to no avail. I have no illusions that Samsung would consider any review to address the issue of pre-installed apps and a user's ability to uninstall those that are unwanted.
I thought this was a FM radio emulator app, which is useless to American users. We're not supposed to be able to use our phones as a FM radio reciever anymore. I thought "I can't use this, I don't need it, I'll just disable it through the app manager since I can't uninstall it. It just robs me of my available free space. I now see that it is something entirely useful and necessary and not at all what I thought it was for to begin with. It is needed for the phone to communicate via wifi/NFC
Do not install on OnePlus phones! It messes with your phone's ability to make and receive calls. I kept having vowifi cut in and out and people kept saying to be that I was cutting out. I've installed and the fluctuation has stopped immediately.
Google add on that's not appropriate for my device, can't seem to delete it, can't contact Google, so I'm just reviewing it, 3 different apps with this ANT RADIO SERVICE showed up and none of them have been used in the 18 weeks since installed without my knowledge. I got rid of one but the other 2 won't move. Don't ya just love it, nope!
The amount of people who don't understand what this app does amuses and disappoints me. As an app which allows communication between my device and various sports equipment it works fine. If you don't like or use it, disable it in Settings Applications.
These apps that installed without permission only drains the battery. I don't need this on my phone. Then when I want to delete it, it says by deleting this app may cause other apps on your phone system some problems. I am the one who should decide what I want and don't want on my phone since I'm the one who pays the bill. Thank you!!
Wouldn't it be great if bloatware like this was optional, rather than having it pre-installed on our phones with no option of uninstalling it? My Samson Galaxy came with dozens and dozens of "bundled" apps I'll never use, and which I'm not allowed to uninstall—on my own phone! Software never used to be like this. We always had a choice. I don't know why device makes decided to become so aggressive this way, but it's overbearing and creepy.
You idiots that have no idea what this app is and does write bad reviews. That's funny. FYI if you use the WIFI on your phone you need this app, if you use bluetooth for anything, ie a watch, headphones, car, ext you need this app. It turns the radio frequencies from those devices into readable content. If you could read you would know that.
I assumed this was yet another streaming music app. Upon furter investigation, I have no idea what it is, what it's for, or what it does. All their website says is that it's preinatalled and makes certain hardware function. My WiFi and bluetooth works just fine without it. All I can find are mentions of fitness devices, which I don't have. Why preinstall this on everyones phone if it's only useful to a select group of consumers? Try telling people what this is.
