Frequently allows me on blocked apps for well past the allotted time. When it works, it's great. But doesn't work just often enough that it's kind of annoying. Edit May 2020: Bugbean's tips didn't work. App is doing something even more annoying now. Apps that were blocked are disappearing from the app. As in removed from the blacklist, and then not visible in the available app list at all. Have to uninstall and redownload the app to make it work, but it doesn't last long. Do not recommend.
The UI was beautiful, organizing, pleasing to the eyes because of the dark display. Easy to navigate and user friendly. The only concern I have is, app blocking doesn't immediately take effect, there are also times the app stopped working in the background, and when I tested using blocked apps, the response was slow where it pops up a "this app is blocked" window. Please add a little more strictness in the app blocking (especially the scheduled blocked apps).
Great app for managing your phone usage. It's got a bit of an annoying bug where it blocks certain apps that aren't on the blocklist until you go into the settings. I'd also love to be able to set multiple types of blocking modes, like no app usage from 12-9am and also a maximum of two hours a day. Setting different blocking based on the app would also be great, though it would be difficult to keep the UI easy to use.
I have no idea how this app is designed to function. Each time I exited it and closed it so that it wasn't working in the foreground, it completely stopped working. My phone was notifying me constantly that it was draining battery, so I thought, yeah, it's normal since it runs in the background collecting data. AND YET, it has recorded absolutely NOTHING. No usage time, nada, zero. Every time I re-opened it, it'd show me the setup screen. All in all, a pretty bad experience. Would not recommend.
I love this app so much. It has honestly played a major part in helping me break my phone addiction. I realized that before the most recent update, while using the timer on the blocked apps, anything after 8 minutes would be very off (9 minutes turned into 15, 10 minutes into 20, etc). But this most recent update seems to have fixed those issues, and the timer now seems to be very accurate. Hopefully it stays this way!
This app helped me a lot, I kind of stopped using it for one reason though: if you're not connected to the internet, you can't change your whitelist. I had some moments where I wanted to show someone something on my phone, only to find that it was blocked. With internet, I just unblocked it, but sometimes I didn't have Wi-Fi... 4 stars because of good functionality, the app is very dependable and I've had many occasions where AntiSocial "reminded me" to stay focused. Thanks creators!
While I really like the core functionality (it's really quite good at helping you limit your time on the phone), the app apparently requires an internet connection when you're interacting with it. This would be a non-issue if it was just pinging Google to determine connectivity. But instead it pings Antisocial's server, so your ability to use the app-blocking core functionality is contingent on something you have only partial control over. Imagine that you have blocked access to a messaging app, but suddenly need access to info from that app. If somebody at Antisocial has tripped over a cable, you're locked out, even though the analytics portion that requires connectivity is a secondary function.
I really like the app, especiallythe comparing stats. it triggers my competitiveness. However sometimes I am not sure if they also go down or only up. one thing that bothers me is the blocking function 1. It is too easy to unblock, a little math task or sth could be nice to put a higher barrier. 2. The countdown doesnt really work. It seems to freeze sometime and is slower then tha actual time. Also I can always access WhatsApp via notifications. please fix these issue and it's perfect.
the application is good for controlling the applications you want to use and it gives you control over the applications you want to restrict. Two problems. the time usage numbers are not correct. it looks like sometimes the app is just making numbers up!! second it keeps crashing now and again. this needs to be fixed pronto.
Yes. This is the one after i spent an hour looking for the right app that does the job efficiently and simply. You want to block certain apps in the specific time that you prefer without seemingly expose yourself to the scam for FREE. This is the one. Only one thing that get in the way for this app to reach 5 stars, That "Unlock App" button wont help anyone. I want the app to help getting in the way between me and Facebook, make it harder not easier to unlock.
The blocking works when apps are on the block list, but they will spontaneously disappear and sometimes it takes me a while to notice. I would also like features to mix and match blocking modes (eg have apps completely blocked for certain hours but have a time limit for other hours). I like the UI, but it could use with some upgrades and debugging.
This app is completely useless. I set the schedule to block certain apps first thing in the morning (my peak usage time) yet it still let me open them. You can't have more than one blocking method in operation at once it seems (eg having a blocking schedule but also limiting the time spent on apps overall). It seems to measure the time that apps are open on your phone rather than when you're using them, so unless you remember to close your apps every time it skews the usage data. I'm deleting.
I think that the app is really useful for controlling distraction apps. I wish i can search the apps that i want to block so i don't have to spend time scrolling through it and also maybe have a filter function to search it ( a-z, or most spent, or recommended to block, etc.) or maybe like an app block group to make it more efficient to choose the apps.
its Data analysis is not that accurate . even after seeing a 10 min video on youtube it will show as phone used only for 4 mins or something less . The feature of the app which I really like is the blocking option and blacklist option , where you can block access to particular apps at a certain period of time in a day or for the immediate next few hours .
I LOVED YOUR UI AND INTERFACE! That's what made me download it and keep it. But it's functioning is buggy :( Its not telling any usage time until this app is opened in the background, which leads to battery drain. A lot of other apps do this thing and tell the usage of past as well. ie: of a time before install of app. Hence it's a solvable problem. PLEASE you guys also roll that out in next update and atleast give up some WIDGETS for utilitiy. I'll edit my reviews. Thanks.
cons: it's not super clear what some metrics mean or how they are calculated (ex: score of dependency on the phone, % of time using apps) pros: otherwise it's super user friendly, simple yet appealing and organized screens, i love how it blocks the apps you choose to blacklist yet allows notifications through- gives me peace of mind that i'd know and be able to unblock if a close friend sent an important message or something along those lines.
This app is great when it works. However, blacklisted apps are continually being removed from the list which negates the whole purpose of the app. I have worked all the problem solving tios I can find such as changing battery optimization and nothing else seems to work.
The app wouldn't work when I had no internet. This meant I couldn't change the schedule and use one of the blocked apps, that I needed. I ended up having to uninstall anti-social in order to be able to access the app I needed. Why does it need a constant internet connection to work? (It should still work without internet, but with limited extra data.)
This app is extremely useful. It helped me a lot. But there is some thing in the app that I don't like. This thing is when l set a time in blocking mode, why do you give the user the ability to edit and reset the time? I hope you will remove this choice for ever. At least for those who want to remove it. I hope you will fix this and make more useful and free apps like this one. Thanks!
I loved this app on my old phone, unfortunately on my new phone it doesn't block any apps. I have to go in every day and select the apps to block. I really hope this can get fixed because this app made such a difference in my life previously. I will update my review if this ever gets fixed!
Works sometimes. So I've been using this for a few weeks to try to take control of my reddit habit. Unfortunately this app doesn't seem to be stable. I leave the notification on but it still forgets to stop the problem apps at the right time. Sometimes apps will drop off the blocked list without warning. This isn't good enough for what I need.
Mostly app is great, design, usability, etc. Two weaknesses: No easy way to turn off timer lock. Only by changing it to 1 min Sometimes Hell long boot time, And this ridiculous boot screen shows up each time, saying it s preparing my apps, like it's not usually done once for lifetime while setup.
I think it is way to easy to unlock a locked app. You can even just click "unlock" on the screen that says that this app is blocked. Other than that nice and clean and not overloaded unlike similar apps...
This app was great for awhile, but it's been completely broken for awhile now. It counts apps that aren't on the block list as part of my time and blocks me before my time is up (according to its timer.) Sometimes the timer doesn't work at all. Yesterday I disabled blocking completely and it was still locking me out of apps that were never on the block list. So unfortunately I've had to uninstall.
I used this app before and it worked okay, the issue started the second time I downloaded the app. I changed every setting that the help section of the app advised to correct the issue, but it still didn't capture correctly the time I used on any app, including those I wanted to block, so I had to delete it, downñoaded it again but still nothing.
Potentially good but there's no excuse for making age and gender mandatory. Other issues: No categories (e.g. to distinguish between games, video, social media, etc. or apps, like browsers, that are in a grey area and should be treated differently from pure black/white). The persistent notification doesn't provide value to the user (e.g. showing current usage). No notification prior to apps running out of time. Lastly, a single tap removes an app from the blocked list with no toast or undo!
