Apollo 15 Moon Landing VR

Celebrating the 45 year anniversary of the Apollo 15 mission!Use your phone and Google Cardboard to simulate the 1971 Apollo 15 Moon Landing.
Feel the rumble as the spacecraft descends to the Lunar surface.Walk on the moon like Scott and Irvin did, and unpack and drive the Lunar Rover.

This App requires a Google Cardboard VR headset, and a modern, powerful smartphone.Does not require a button.Best experienced with headphones. If you notice the application is running slow, select the "half resolution" option in the main menu.

Although this application aims to recreate a realistic impression of the Apollo 15 moon landing, using NASA data and footage, some liberties have been taken to fit the mission into a minutes-long VR demo.

Generally good. After landing, you unpack, then DRIVE the lunar rover. Limited driving area, but fun. Could have more detail or activities.

I loved it it may have been just a bunch of textures but I felt like I was really there

I meditated on the moon surface yesterday. The earth resolution was a bit low. 4,5/5

I don't have a head set and never plan to get one. So my review is going to be not as good as perhaps someone who would have one. But the images look good and think it's a great concept to see what the astronauts saw. I give it the low rating because you have to use a head set. Make it so that regular phone users can view it on their devices then I rate it higher. But I do have an apprication of the effort and probably much better in 3d.

An excellent subject for an introduction to the immersive nature of VR and very sympathetically crafted. This is the first android VR app I have considered worthy. Well done and I hope you continue to develop with such quality. One tiny thing I noted was the failure of the back key to take me back out of the app. Otherwise, excellent.

Good job for virtual moon world. Gives you a great perspective on the surface and the view. Driving the rover is awesome. Going over the surface is up and down hills is great. I wish you could zoom in closer to see the Earth or things in the distance but the real astronauts didn't have a way to do this so it's all good. I can only see this kind of 3D reality world's getting better.

My earliest memory as a child is sitting in front of our little black and white TV, watching the Apollo 15 mission, and playing with my Tang moon buggy toy, wishing I was really there. I know I'll never get to drive a real moon buggy, but this gives me the closest possible analog. Thank you so much for a truly amazing app. You've made the 5 year old kid that lives inside me very happy.

I loved the whole demo . Its winter right now where im from so its cold and playing this with the cold weather made it more real like . I would love to drive over mountain on the full version if it ever comes out ..I felt lonely and really missed earth

I'm not using the most powerful phone or headset (Moto g4 and generic cardboard headset) but I think this app is amazing. You truly get immersed for minutes and taken in by the scenery. Utter amazement looking up at the lunar lander... Great work!

Great immersive and educational VR experience. My first attempt I got stuck in the rover with no apparent way out of it, but on subsequent attempts everything was flawless. The app could use an exit/back button but aside from that this is a great VR app. Worth the download.

Can't compliment this enough! My dad worked on the Apollo missions and was part of mapping the moon and helping decide where to land. Getting to see this, hear it, and drive the rover like being there was amazing. I only wish he was still here now so he could experience what he was part of. Looking forward to more of your work!

Not only are the graphics, sound, animation etc. well done, but the user interface was excellent -- very easy to understand and use, and very comfortable. The graceful launch and exit were appreciated! (Personally I'd rather be back in the lander for the end, but it was very clear what was going on.) This app would also make a great demo to show other developers how to do VR UI.

Incredible experience. There was a moment, walking back from the rover, where I looked at how small the planet was, and got a tiny sense of how enormous this was. This will be the first thing I show to friends that ask about mobile VR.

A great example of Cardboard VR. Very polished and nice interactions, especially enjoyed the steering mechanism and freedom to roam in the moon buggy.

It looks great through vr goggles, the interaction is perfect. I would have preferred bouncing on moon though.

Starts a bit slow, but gets quite good as soon as you start driving around. Could have better resolution.

Pretty much like the scenario written by NASA (Never A Straight Answer), during the Apollo program... If you think NASA went to the moon with the equipment they showed us (rockets, the LEM, the suits they wore etc), just think of the materials that they used to built the said equipment, and then think of the Van Allen Belt (and the ~10 solar flares from our sun, every 24 hours period) During the Tchernobyl disaster, they called NASA to borrow their suits.... Their answer? No, not a good idea... Those suits are useless against radiations... For once, NASA were truthful ! I won't even talk about Operation Paperclip
