My only problem is that there seems to be a glitch when I get a notification from a blocked app. For example, whenever a Facebook notification pops up at the top of the screen, it minimizes the app I was using at the time, even if it's not blocked. Luckily, the app doesn't close completely, but it's still annoying. Other than that, I'm pleased with the app. It's been an essential tool in my fight against procrastination and (maybe) ADHD. I encourage anybody looking for an app blocker to give this one a shot. It's great!

I just downloaded your app and it looks exactly what I need, But I tested it and it feels like it's not working all the time : 1. Apps open against time rules 2. It didn't count some launches and the time I spent at those times. It seems like just after I open your app it takes control, but when I just randomly try it's not continuesly. It's important to be able to relay on it. and sometimes when it starts with notifications, it 'get crazy' and does'nt stop. Ways to make it work better?

Its strange really... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have rules set for social media apps. When it goes past 9pm its not supposed to let you in the app until the time set, which I chose as 6am. Sometimes it works like a charm, allowing me to get to sleep in good time. Other times, it's like I never had the app. I went on Instagram at 11pm out of habit and after liking a few pics, realised I wasn't being notified or kicked out. I opened the detox app and found the settings were on.

Great app! I use it to limit how much I zone out on Reddit, the little toast notifications keep me more mindful of my usage. I like how flexible the rules are, and that you can stack them for a single app (e.g., limiting both time and launches). The fact that you can pause rules as well is useful for me, because there are times when I want to have free access, and times that I don't (though you can also disable this feature if needed).

Great app for those trying to reduce their phone usage. Would love a "Screen time" detox where yoy can also set a general limit for all apps, which might give you a repetitive or persistent notification to let off your phone (with exceptions such as when calling or on certain apps). Also, it seems to count usage whenever I get notifications from apps I have rules for, which is slightly annoying.

It is very useful. However, the rules are cumbersome, and it is very easy to circumvent. I wish that it was easier to set a bedtime and a wake time on this app. As it stands I have to set each rule individually. Also, it can't tell if an app is running. It only stops it when it launches. In addition, if you open an app within about a second of the pop up then it runs like normal. I'm currently doing that. All in all, I love this app, but it needs some serious bug fixes.

Almost perfect! I only have one suggestion.. When you select physical activity mode it count the steps of the phone, basically if i don't walk with my phone steps won't be counted... But i have a Xiaomi Smartband like a lot of other people, and it would be great if everyone could choose between "phone" steps and smartband steps... Also an implementation with Google Fit would be great!

it's very useful, the range of methods we could use to restrict our usage is also accommodating. i like it, but for one flaw: it's too easy to pause the rule, so if my daily allocation is up, I could just turn it off in less than a second and use the app I want to detox from. can you please make it harder for the users to do so? I know it's needed in case there's something urgent, but adding a password or something before a user can turn off a rule would help lots. thank you!

Was once the best app I've tried for phone detoxing. Now, it has too many bugs that I even feel annoyed by the phone (or maybe that's the intention of this app, who knows). The time limitation would never work unless I exit the app and try to get in again. And if I'm already in the app, exceeding the time limitation is nothing. Sorry but I'm uninstalling.

It's a great idea and the app has helped with my procrastination. However, it stops working almost everytime my phone is locked. I have even protected the app to keep it running when the screen is off but it doesn't seem to help. If this issue gets fixed, it would be really helpful.

It's a nice idea, but doesn't really work because the app can't tell the difference between a "launch" & switching tabs. Say you tell the app you're only allowed one Facebook launch per day. You launch Facebook to do your one allotted session. You see a word you don't know on your feed and tab over to a dictionary to look it up really quick. You try to tab back to Facebook to finish reading the post- Nope! The app now thinks you're in a new "launch" and blocks you from continuing your session.

Good in theory and I like the option to set time limits which is a feature lacking from other app Blockers. But it doesn't always block apps in my set blocked times. It also seems like it counts app usage during the times the apps are running in the background and not just the time I'm actually interacting with the app.

Great app. It truly controls the usage of one's app. I also download this in a past months, but, I had had a problem though, that it doesn't do its task. That's when I see the problem, it does not run in the background apps, so as a result it disappears in a nick of time. Glad to have this app. Awesome. Take some time to know its functions.

I don't see what's wrong with this app. Runs totally fine for me I think people had older versions with bugs and that is where their bad reviews come from. TRUST ME THIS APP WORKS. what I like is that you can't just ignore the limit like some apps where you easily click ignore so it really keeps you off the screen with a little funny message like "screen time says NO to YouTube" and it really shows your rule breaks!!

I used this app for a few months and it was pretty good. In the end though, I was too annoyed by the way notifications affect it. I used AppDetox mostly for Twitter: notifications from Twitter seemed to reduce my allotted time per hour even when the app was closed. Whenever I got a notification after my time limit was up, AppDetox would close any app I had open at the time!

I have a suggestion. There is an option which prevents to Pause any Rule once it is in effect which is great but still it is possible to delete that rule thereby making it useless and the concerned app can be used. So I think it would be better if you add a feature which allows the user to prevent deleting a Rule once it is in effect if he opts to do so.This will help the Rule to be in effect until it lapses. Also sent the same via email in case you don't notice it here.

this app is a huge help for me. I spend way too much time on my phone and this is a god-send. I have two issues with it. one, I would love it if this app included a way to block in app purchases and two, the way it calculates launches is faulty. if I open an article in Twitter, and then go back to the Twitter page, that counts as a launch. as a millennial who gets most of their news headlines from Twitter... well you can see the issue. other than that, I'm so glad I found this app.

Has been really helpful but the app only closes the app, it can keep running in the background like music apps. I don't think it logs app running in the background either. Plus if there is a way to add longer passcodes and more advanced options in each category so that we can customise each day in a week, it would be great.

Galaxy S9+ with latest update installed (Dec. 2019). The app just works! I created a schedule for what dates and times I wanted to stay off Facebook and it worked right away!! When you mindlessly click on the banned app during the scheduled time, the app launches for a split second and then immediately closes. A bubble pops up on the screen for a few seconds with an amusing chiding remark about opening the banned app. During unscheduled times, the app works normally. I am kicking my habit!!!

In theory good, but for some reason it stops working for me after a few hours. I try to pin it to my activities so it stays open but it doesn't (I know it's the apps problem cause I can do this just fine with other apps). Ends up with me halfway into scrolling Facebook or something before I remember, exit out, and have to re-enter the app a few times and activate it. edit: ibe had it for a bit now and its just full on stopped working

Edited review from 1 star to 4 stars after dev finally updated and I verified features I love are working again. 4/5 stars now because of poor developer communication. After Android 10 update, major features stopped working, app was non-functional, developer never responded to bug/troubleshooting email (not even an auto-reply from a bug report). Many weeks of no news or updates. I assumed app was abandoned and left 1 star. Many weeks later, app got updated and became functional again.

It was quite useful for a while... until I found a way around the blocking scheme it uses. More or less, you can "brute force" a blocked application open by attempting it open it several times in a row. After this, it will stay open until you switch apps, after which the process must be repeated.

Jac. W. A. Feb 16, 2019

when it works I love it, but it only works for a little while after you set a rule. I have it set for five minutes an hour for a few apps. It works once or twice after rule creation, then stops working...if I leave an app and try to come back it is blocked, but i can sit in the app for as long as I want. If i delete the rule and start over it works again for a little while.

The idea is nice but unless I've just used my phone in my sleep it measures without me even using it at all. Actually I've noticed it several times. The text popups when exceeding the limit are annoying. It doesn't shut the app down when exceeding time, only when starting the app again after exceeding.

It works as advertised, but notifications from an app that you have ended your time with count as rule breaks and they bring you back to the home screen. Not cool, since I'm not using the app when I get notifications from it.
