Animations in sports Livestreams (ie. before and after replays during live sports) often cause multiple microstutters right after. probably buffering issue, maybe caused by Bitrate or key frames. Seems like an oversight during design phase. Needs to be better in QA. Also, lately live-menu didn't show any channel, unsure if one-time issue or persistent issue yet. I'd like to subscribe to recurring formats, otherwise profile is quite useless.

Every link I click on in emails or messages takes me to this App, not to the browser on my device! I can watch TV, but every time I want to open a link from an email I have to copy and paste it into the browser because this app decides to try to open the link instead. Very buggy and frustrating! I will not use this app until fixed & instead try to use the browser.

I switched from the old ARD app to this new version today, for my Tatort addiction 😉. Just a bit of feedback to improve: the subtitles have a black background, can't you make it transparant, it's not visually pleasing. Furthermore, there are no dates of original broadcast anymore, would be great to see them in the list of episodes. And last but not least, to me it seems the quality of video has been downgraded compared to the old Das Erste app. Is this temporary? Oh, am using Android TV btw.

It's 20.01, about a month since other reviewers mentioned the problem, and still, the Mediathek app randomly opens as a default browser when clicking links that has nothing to do with it (I wasn't prompted to chose a default browser, it just randomly redirects to the hopepage of the app when clicking a link in an email in gmail, for example)

I had been using the App for at least 2 years with no issues and with the latest update are faced with all the problems previous comment described (crashing, opening browser etc) . What went wrong? My AmazonFire TV is having the same problems. Not sure if this is connected to the Android app but it also needs fixing fast!

Overall a good app that delivers on its promise - providing a library of past broadcasts by public media channels. The only problem I've had so far were slight UI performance problems when typing a search term, but nothing serious.

Average content considering that it's funded by public money. And get your supported links setting in grip. Instead of supporting "*", you should just support "*.ard.mediathek". This will solve the problem of automatically opening browser/other links. Also there is no option to customise the playback speed.

Since today's update (23.12.20), this app opens whenever I open any link in any other app (eg my email app or Whatsapp). Instead of a web browser, I'm confronted by the ARD app, that can't do anything with the link, of course. Same thing started happening on me wife's device at the same time, so it must be something to do with the update. Very very annoying - please fix, ARD. Update: beginner's bug still not fixed after weeks. Everyone in ARD development still asleep after Xmas?

Rudimentary app that requires yet another account, uses a traditional licencing model that videos vanish again, and offers a clunky handling of the app: rotation currently does not work, you have to manually activate fullscreen and you cannot rotate the video. For more comfort, there is usually also a related webpage with the video.

used to be fantastic, now there is no chromecast available. too bad, uninstalled. thanks for the reply! the chromecast logo apears only fleetingly, than goes away alltogether! all other apps like netflix have no problem there! what could be the issue?? regards by the way, i could send u a screenshot if it would help......

I am having the same issue that other people are describing. When I click on a link in any browser, it takes me to this app. I need to uninstall the app because it makes my whole phone unusable. Unbelievable that the app of the official German state television has such a major glitch!

Subtitles!? Incredible that you do not have service with subtitles! Not even in German! The compatibility to cast to devices like smart tvs and more it's so bad, the application itself is good but 1 start because all the other issues

Update: In general moves in the right direction with occasional set backs :) Mostly watch news and documentaries on my own schedule. Disappointed a lot of content is blocked online despite very high mandatory broadcast fees.

App worked fine until this last update. The daily program (TV Program) is not updated past 27.11. 20. Deleted app, reinstalled, cleared cache and data. Still stuck on partial TV program from last week. Total enttäuschend.

It's a good app, but the app is set to open any browser link whatsoever. So it pops up as an option for any link I click on. Very sloppy from the developer and very annoying.

Since the last update this app crashes immediately when clicking on the icon. Uninstalling and reinstalling etc doesn't solve the problem. At the moment the app is totally useless. Please resolve this issue.

Useless, Uninstalled! After one of the last updates I'm encountering the same issues others also reported here. The proposed workaround cannot be applied because my Redmi Note 8T doesn't have the mentioned option to turn links off. Hence app has been uninstalled and one star.

The app lets every link on a website think it can open it like a browser. The issue consist since 2-3 weeks and there was no update or fix for this. Not acceptable.

There is a UT( subtitle) symbol in video thumbnail, but there is no subtitle option in video when it is played. It was not like this before. Please fix this issue.

Was very happy with the app but still have the in other comments mentioned issues. Today again it crushes straight away after opening. Before it sometimes worked after a while but still far from smoothly!

Update 1/22/2020: Thanks for the developer's response and the working update. Original review: This app now opens nearly every link that is related to another app. Whether you get a sms to confirm by clicking on a link or you open any bank app related-links: ARD takes them all. So you click on "confirm Bank-Account Login here" and ARD gives it a try... Unacceptable, don't you test those apps before finally making them available?

App softlocks, when restarted on download, no more download being possible;had to clear all associated files through Androids Filesystem facilities. Data compression on downloads would be appreciated (>2GBs for HD content compared to private competitors needing only a quarter of storage)

The new version of this app is hopeless. It was crashing all the time. I deleted the app. For a while, it was not even possible to install it! Now it can be installed. But now there is another problem: it wants to take over my phone! Why release a version which is hopeless?

Keeps pausing the playback, unusable

Please test the app more thoroughly before publishing new version. App still crashes after clicking on the user icon top left :( EDIT: as developer pointed one must delete storage, data & cache, remove the app, and then install it again. Then it works.

Great app! Very good content, available when you want it. Chromecast works seamlessly. No login required (at least not when in Germany). Good work! 😉

It keeps glitching and repeating things. It didn't used to do that. Very annoying! I already un- and re-installed. Same issue. 🙄

Hi, the last update creates a issue. Inside the supported links configuration is now a star visible which causes that every link will be opened by your app. Would be great to fix that.
