there are levels that are too hard for me, and there are also levels that are easy for my 8 year old nephew. we both like the app.
It is a modified form of chess. If chess players want to try something more challenging, then this is the game. Sadly, I am not a chess player, and this game was not my cup of tea.
Unfortunately it does not appear to work properly on my device. Too bad, it looked like the kind of game I would enjoy.
Great fun! Looks lovely, plays well, and NO ADS!
Can't see the menu (i5 CPU, Oreo).
Would get more stars if only it supported landscape mode on my TABLET. Holding the keyboard sideways to play is annoying.
Already good, now it is great.
Thanks for the update!! I recommend this app for everyone, and I hope the arimaa community grows.. Great app, actually the only game I have on my phone and I think it's more then enough. UPDATE: Yo lightvector, just a small bug you should fix, I noticed that if the only move the bot has (forced move) is a three fold repetition, it just sends an error message and the bot doesnt play.
the game is easier to play on here than on pc imo because you can just drag pieces around with your fingers, so I reckon it's good for beginners. very clear rules as well, generally happy :)
Great app. I'd love to be able to use it for online games, as the game room website is a real pain on mobile devices. Custom skins and pieces would be great as well.
looking forward to the time when we will be able to play online, instead of the outdated gameroom
Excellent look and feel and very stable app. Good levels of play against computer from beginner to stiff intermediate.
A very solid implementation of an interesting game of strategy. Good range of skill levels from beginner to strong intermediate.
Good chess alternative. App is designed well but I can't play against an online opponent.
I wanted to learn to play arimaa and i did get it with this game.
I'm total novice, started to play instantly.Very good app, thanks!
Would love the ability to set up various positions for game analysis.
I had been waiting so long for this on my tablet. It would be nice to update it to play others, or even to play against the bots hosted on the site. I just assume we'll see that in the coming future, thanks for a great app.
The app helps learn the game well, but I wish that the size of the game board was bigger or could be changed. It only takes up about half of my screen at most on my HTC DNA.
The controls are intuitive. The rules tutor is nice for new players. Online matches would make it perfect.
The only thing missing is a connection with the arimaa game room, other than that great app for all arimaa enthusiasts.
Outstanding. Great interface, great bot. Nexus4
Would be excellent with online play!
As far as the gameplay is concerned there is really nothing to improve but it would be great to be able to play against random human players or friends online.
I've been wanting this so badly that I had plans to learn Android programming just for Arimaa. Now I'll just spend all my time playing it instead.
Good app. Simple, right to the point. The ability to save and load games is a huge plus. It would be nice if an option could be added so the top pieces could be flipped around, that way the person playing from the top of the device doesn't always have to play by looking at backwards pieces.
Arimaa provides an interesting alternative strategy game, it is quite like a cross between Chess and Go. The app works well, I have been using it for a week now and it hasn't crashed once. It could be improved with an option for online play and more reliable minimizing without losing progress, it will forget the game if left for too long so its important to save manually. Worth every penny.
I also have been waiting for an app for some time now for Android. Been using the web interface with flash from my phone and it has been a bit slow. The implementation is super slick and easy to use. If this app could link into the Arimaa server online to play head to head over network, that would rule. Perhaps an interface similar to Chess with friends or Chess Time apps... Great job!!
I get consistently beaten by level 5 (that's out of 11!) It thinks for about 6 seconds per move - quite acceptable. No problems with GUI either. Playing over bluetooth would be nice, but I wouldn't expect this feature in version 1.0. Great job!
This is a great board game. I think it inspires creativity, due to the multitude of choices you can make, much how Chess helps people improve upon their decision-making. It's easily comparable to Chess in terms of greatness, in my opinion. There are more possible moves in Arimaa than in Chess. The app is great, too, although it needs to be optimized for Android 10, still (but the actual game plays fine in Android 10, once you get to playing it).
