Arizona Republic E-Newspaper

I love the features this app has. It has the actual electronic version of the printed paper, easy to navigate, simple readable view of articles with sizable text, no ads, and text to speech. The app has minor glitches in some areas, but overall a great way to experience the Az Republic digitally.

Easy to use! We use another paper app and it's very clunky. This one is much smoother in reading and transitions.

Somewhat glitchy, but I appreciate being able to read the paper as it is published.

Update- e-edition is working well now. I am assuming an update was done to fix the problems. Every now and then there are articles that appear to be gibberish when clicked on but overall much, much better. I cancelled my subscription years ago because the digital application didn't work at least half of the time. I actually loved the AZ Republic and missed it so I thought I would give it another chance. It still doesn't work most of the time in the e-edition!

I was so glad that this app was improved. It was very difficult to use for a while on my Android tablet...freezing, jumping back to previous page unexpectedly, etc...but suddenly it is much easier. Whether this is because you have updated your app, or my tablet software has updated ...?but it is much more agreeable now. Still a few rough edges, but I believe in supporting local journalism, & had faith that eventually you would make the digital edition work. Well done you!

Awful, awful, awful. One month ago, this app suddenly stopped working on my Samsung galaxy tablet. I called the Arizona Republic and spoke with a technician who had me to do what I already did many times, namely, uninstall and reinstall the app. Unfortunately, the problem was not solved, but was told that it would be fixed. The app is still not working, and because it isn't, it has earned a poor rating.

Opens slowly or not at all. Have to delete and reinstall almost every week. Unable to eliminate "Montini" from my edition ! New version is GREAT! Loads fast and is easy to navigate. Big improvement. However, I am still unable to edit out Montini's column. This version is almost perfect. 3/5/2021 Still looking for the "Eliminate Montini" slider. The rest of the app works well.

Bad application, very glitchy. The app will often be inaccessible on certain days. If I can get it, it doesn't work correctly. Then it freezes and I have to uninstall and reinstall. I love the paper, but the print edition was unaffordable for everyday so this is my option. Please fix it!

Excellent way to remained informed. Brings up The Arizona Republic newspaper along with, included each weekday, the USA Today newspaper. Each loads quickly and easily on my tablet, where each page loads alone for easy reading. I especially like a touch to an article causes it to load by itself larger for easy reading. Each page would also load in my phone but I prefer the larger tablet. Subscribe!

This app has issues - locks up on Android devices, is difficult to scroll or resize for convenient reading on different sized screens. I have used for awhile and not seen improvement on these problems. This app should be a top-notch way to read the paper.

It's nice to read the local award winning paper but dealing with the frustrations of this site makes it not very pleasant - it's slow loading, not responsive and sometimes it takes more than one or two attempts at getting it to work. I understand the need to save money but this site will loose the paper paying subscribers.

Slow, blurry text. Even if you download the current edition each page can take 2 or 3 minutes to render clearly. At times ut just bonces you out of the current edition whike reading and makes you reload it.

This website has improved so much over the years. The only improvement I would suggest is that I read the paper with several devices (whichever is handy at the moment) and I have to login each time. Not sure if this is for security purposes but is inconvenient.

This app is easy to use. It is just like reading the newspaper. The presentation is perfect. I would rather read the paper on my computer with this app then reading the real newspaper because I don't need to turn the pages for the full article.

The app doesn't work about half of the time but when it works, it's nice. I'm a subscriber because I fully believe in supporting local journalism so the app doesn't affect my subscription but it'd be great if it worked 100%!

Update : This app has been updated and now is reliable and without quirks. 😷 Now it's deserving of five stars! I really can't seem to figure out why this app is allowed by it's creator to be so bad. Update : To view a new edition of The Republic I have to uninstall then reinstall the app each time. There has to be a better way! UPDATE : Since the last update the app has been working! I'm hoping this is a permanent fix but I'm not holding my breath.

Almost as good as reading the physical paper. However, when I try to print an article, it only prints part of it. Sometimes it takes several taps to select an article.

Please invest in development of a professional app. I subscribe to the print edition to support local journalism. The failures of this app are too numerous to list, but I'll start with get the page sizing correct for tablets so can read fonts clearly.

breaks when you switch away & switch back to the app. Switch back & it tells you there's a new edition (there isn't). Say no to loading it & the app doesn't respond to commands. Say yes & you lose your place & your back to the 1st page. UPDATE: if you switch to the bonus edition of USA Today, I can't find a way--other then uninstalling, reinstalling the app--to get back to the AZ Republic. Are you app developers reading ANY of these reviews? Does this company care anything about losing readers?

Very poor app. Takes forever to open, then, the type is scrambled when it opens and then finally straightens out a few seconds later. Very frustrating.

Good app. Easy to read.

Worse newspaper app I've ever used. Pages don't maintain correct size or stay in focus. It's going to be hard to justify paying for a subscription when reading is so difficult.

App is stable, easy to navigate, and intuitive. Only complaint is that occasionally the comics are not in focus.

Can't use Google to sign in. Username/Password saved in Google won't film in via app. Very glad it was only $1 for 6 months because I can only view the website not through the app.

I agree with previous review. The app has stopped working on my Samsung tablet. I contacted the tech at AZ Republic and he said he would fix it. He never did. The money I pay is going to waste.

The app has stopped working completely on my Samsung tablet. Error code and certificate prevents loading of any E edition shown. I can load supplemental info only.

It is nice to be able to read the previous days' editions. And it is easy to find the news or the pages I want to read.

Constant problems loading. Day old news not worth the hassle any more. Will go to circle K for the wed food section & occasional sun paper.

Very slow downloads. Enlarged page images often are corrupted, compressed on right edge. First review did not post.
