Simple, instructive, decent looking, and oddly calming. Getting into sailing and this helps a lot. Surprised to find out it was designed by the same man who started Atari. It's helped me greatly so far. I find book studying very boring and painful, and gamification does have it's merits. It's been well worth the price, and I've not even gotten into the fun sailing yet.
The education is useful but the controls are problematic. In many sims, there are two things that must be controlled with corresponding areas on the screen that must be manipulated. For most PCs, this doesn't work as well as it could. Perhaps using keyboard controls as an option would be better.
Decent primer, but *very* dishonest presentation. Both the screenshots and the description lead you to believe things like there are multiple boats and a dolphins available with your purchase. There are not. Buying this program offers *1* boat, with the option to pay for a few additional, and pay for added dolphins. Lots of apps on Google have in-app purchases, but to use the store page to imply they are included in the app price is just plain wrong. Considering refund.
Just purchased it but noticing that I have to exit program and go to menu to move forwards through the levels. It's a great learning tool but this issue is getting on my nerves already. I just want to continue not have to close app, 're open and them find my new level. If they can sort this I would definitely give it 4 to 5 stars. In about 30 m8nd I have learnt so much already!
Awful graphics and gameplay. I'm a complete novice and completed the game in under an hour. Might have given 2 stars if it had been free ....... nah, no I wouldn't. Waste of money. I really thought an organisation such as the ASA would have been able to put together something better than this. You should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.
The app is fun, simple, and educational. Only reasons I am not goving this 5 stars is that the store description makes it sound like the DLC is part of the initial purchase (not expensive but misleading) and I wish you could have more camera options.
Good graphics and lots of fun. It would be nice if there were challenges that covered more distance and took more time as the current ones get a bit repetitive after a while. Maybe even just have the practice area 10 times bigger so that you can just have a leisurely sail.
The app has good information but lacks realism in the sailing portions of the game. It would be better if you had the sheets designated and had to tighten or loosen through clutches as well as winches indicated to choose from on port/starboard sides for head sails.. this would try teach the person the management of all the sheets/lines and why / when to use them.
Great app for learning. I don't like the sail trim game though. Adding tell tails would make it more realistic if someone doesn't have a speedometer.
Exactly what I was looking for. I'm brushing up on theory from trimming for winds to right of way, in a fun gaming kind of way. Suggestions: wind strength options, waves, tiller touch area higher in screen and wider for better control.
Great for learning, but I don't like that after paying for the game, I'm prompted to pay for additional things/difficulty levels. Feeling a little bit like I got played.
I'm enjoying so far and haven't encountered any bugs. I think it would be nice to include a right of way test or challenge. Also would be good to have a challenge where you try to avoid accidental jibes.
Less than mediocre, boring and of. Very little educational value. There's so mush potential for an app of this type as an educational tool for navigation, weather sail types and trim but this app fails on all of them.
Terrific app! Educational experience coupled with animation to reinforce learning with hands-on experiences. You're in the boat, in the scenario, at the helm...fabulous!!
This app really helps to understand and learn the main aspects of sailing whilst not being in a boat. These things are quite baffling on paper but make sense here. And all the while you are having fun!
Love, the app it is teaching me a lot about AWA, and my different points of sails, I also am challenged with the advanced points of sail and the wind direction changes. It's really a lot of fun and I'm learning a whole lot and it is well worth the price.
Excellent simulator. This actually taught me the nuts and bolts of sailing, much better than books. I actually took my family sailing around the Greek islands for a week with little more than what I learned from this app. I don't necessarily recommend doing that but it worked for me :)
Pretty good, educational. I find it difficult to use the steering slider. Maybe it could be taller so my finger stays on it.
Same problem as everyone else. Freezes between pages, clicking continue, main menu etc. Have to restart the app everytime you finish a module. Samsung Note 9 latest update.
No icon to launch the app. I downloaded this app hoping that I would pick up.some knowledge in an engaging format. I can't say too much about that so far. I guess I would say it's not too bad for $3. I am a little disappointed that I have to start the app through Google Play as there is no shortcut to launch the app on my phone.
Seems realistic, nice graphics and attention to detail. But needs to be restarted every time I try to go back to the main menu.
As a developer and beginner sailor. This is a good app to learn basics. Would love to see more sailing scenarios to try out, like stormy weather for example.
Very little educational value. Do not get to use jib sail, even on upgrade boats you have to pay extra for that show them pictured. Misleading.
Best sailing app out there. Learned a lot and the sailing is realistic. The only complaint would be the lack of head sails. Please add these into the game. Thanks
As a beginning sailor, it is a great and fun way to solidify the points of sail terms into your head. Gave me a much better understanding of tacking strategies in narrow waterways and varying winds. I directly applied this knowledge to actual sailing. Makes me more aware of the look and efficiencies of sail trim on various points of sail. There is a PC version that I also use and really like, which is easier for me to compete against the clock.
