As far as news media apps go, the Asbury Park Press app is pretty sad. We were longtime print subscribers, but watched the press get thinner and thinner while the price went up and up. Got the app so we can still get local news and obituarys, but even for that its a pain (have to pull up from the bottom of the page or scroll through weeks of stale content to reach the site menu at the bottom of the page). Im being generous with 2 stars.
In general pretty good, but missing some features of more prominent news apps. Could use more nuanced download features (such as scheduling), stories sorted by time, recommended stories, and a slightly better UI
As a paying subscriber, I expect more from a phone app. Disorganized content and I'm forced to sign in multiple times in a day. Rating this app mediocre is being kind. On my Kindle, the "print version" format is available. It's familiar and very easy to use. I like the AP Press for local content. Corporate sourced national and political content is predictably agenda driven to varying degrees. That aspect can't be avoided in today's world. Free press is the law, not necessarily the practice.
I just want to read the stories in a straightforward way. I don't want popups, videos, ads, "subscribe" requests, other b.s. I'll give it a few more days, before I again cancel. My head is spinning.
App needs a fresh look and better notifications
I DON'T know how they got my new credit card info, but I did not authorize the outrageous $70 "digital" subscriptionc price to be taken off my debit card .... I moved to Florida in June morons 🙄🤔 cancel & refund my money TOMORROW !!!! And NO the money is NOT being taken out of the Google play store
I think its a great app nontheless i believe the App should be less to subscribe electronically. Especially for people like disabled or senior citizens with fixed incomes.
Unfortunate that the local paper has taken such a political stance on so many stories. They offer a spin to nearly half of the reports. I get the importance of selling news, but it seems to overshadow the ethics and honest reporting. Whether I agree with their perspective or not, a news outlet is press and supposed to simply report accurate news. I have canceled my subscription because of the inability to report without injecting perspective. Fear mongering and division creation
I subscribed for fishing reports but found their coverage limited. For everything else, my impression is that it is mostly "FLASH" with little "substance. Please cancel my subscription trial. Thanks, Michael Cavalier
Hard to read. No real flow to what's being reported. Wish they would go back to the printed online version or at least give the reader the option.
I paid for my 6 months trial and it won't let me see any news, tells me I must subscribe to see this or see that. I called and followed instructions and it still doesn't work.
Has very limited services. No place to access your Subscription. There customer service is almost nonexistent!
No entertainment section? No funny pages? Too hard to go from page to page like you would turn each page.
I just want to read today's paper but I can't find it offered as is, just a whole bunch of articles. Disappointed.

Its a decent app but it keeps crashing Beyond normal Way Beyond and I'm on a flagship phone it's not the phone it's the app please work on it
I have so much trouble even just signing in with this app I usually give up and get my news elsewhere.
This app crashes as soon as I double click it. It doesnt even load
Glitchy, slow, freezes, closes, basically a nightmare to use.
Lousy app. Can't get to customer service to report delivery problem.
They need to have negative stars !! Only news app that makes you pay, even for updates on Covid-19 !!

Was great till they stopped letting you read the news without paying so sad about ready uninstall and get my news from the patch and ABC where they are free
SCAMMERS billed me for no reason and won't refund me, call center out of the country... horrible.
I have always felt that this app is terrible. Now that I have changed my subscription from print to digital I find it even worse to navigate. All I want to do is for it to open up to the actual newspaper but there is no simple way to do this. I waste more time trying to get to those pages than it takes to read the entire newspaper. I cannot think of a worse app that exists.
