ASIAIR

Been using the ASIair Pro for about a year now. Amazing piece of equipment that helps make this hobby easier and enjoyable. The updates for this app have been great and just keep adding to the functionality of the unit. One thing I have been experiencing lately, is when inputting a target in the search window it changes your selection to an other target and slews to it. Have to re-pick desired target a second time for it to slew there.

Whilst conceptually the ASIAIR is a great idea and the App has some useful functionality. It is still let down by its woeful WiFi capability. The Pro WiFi was apparently very poor, and the Plus does not seem a lot better. Constantly drops connection no matter what WiFi mode is chosen especially when transferring images back to the mobile tablet/phone. The only sure fire way of getting a stable network connection is by using an Ethernet cable back to your router. For me this negates the whole reason for buying the ASIAIR in the first place which was meant to allow me to wirelessly connect to my astrophotography session from the comfort of my office. Alas, I still have to sit within a few metres of the ASIAIR strapped to my OTA for the thing to have any chance of working. As for letting it run overnight taking images - no chance wirelessly.

This update created many issues I didn't have before. The AirPro keeps switching the connection on and off when a router is connected via ethernet cable. 5G has become disabled. I tried another identical tablet without the update, and all works perfectly. There should be a way to roll back to previous updates, or make them available on the ZWO site! This is unuseable! The more recent updates resolved all of my issues. I'll raise it to 4 stars.

[Update]I already had the beta version for 1.9 (beta 34)(9.46) installed and working but this update fails. Had to revert to the beta to get my device working again. Note, this update is huge - it's the biggest app that runs on my phone. Reduced my rating to reflect the seemingly continual problems with this app/device. The sky atlas isn't a patch on other apps like Stellarium. Great app, use it all the time with my ASIAir Pro. It makes astrophotgraphy easy. With this latest version I've noticed a notification on my phone for ASIAir smart network, what's that all about? Also doesn't go away even when the Pro and app are shutdown. Update 1.8.2 breaks station mode. Was working perfectly before the update. Can get it to work but have to connect via AP mode and reboot/restart until it works.

I love this device and all of my zwo gear. It's awesome to see ZWO constantly updating and improving this tool. So many astronomy-related things often seem stale, but the continual improvements mean there's always a new feature to tinker with. I love the portability of the asiair and the wire management benefits of having everything integrated into a single device. Keep up the great work!

Love this app, makes everything much more enjoyable. The new skyatlas feature though doesn't work on my 32Gb iPad Air running iOS 12.5.5 says not enough ram on this device. Would be good to include the hardware requirements for skyatlas.

The aisair is fantastic, previously I spent so so long polar aligning and then 2 / 3 star aligning, but the asiair took away the squinting at a screen or down a polar scope and turned it into a quick adjustment and platesolve. My one recent issue is that the app kept telling me orion was below the horizon despite me being able to see it and manually slew to it and the platesolve even identifying it. I **think** it was due to the app pulling the wrong longitude value from my phone....?

Almost perfect. One nagging issue is since one of the updates now my storage always defaults to internal instead of last used, which is USB. The second one is a request for a needed feature. Please add unguided dithering. Thank you.

The new update it has a wifi bug, I can't connect my tablet and phone, please fix that soon as possible. I love my Asiair!

I bought the ASIAIR plus to simplify my astro setup. As a first timer for auto guiding,the app did a fantastic job of getting things done. I wish ZWO will add support for Sony A7iii camera to their support camera lineup. This is where i couldnt get the full value of the product for accurate go to, PA and dithering. So far, without sony mirrorless camera support, i was only able to use the most basic funtionaility from ASIAIR.

I got my ASIAIR in November and it worked perfectly, but since a firmware update in the New Year it has been terrible, I can't get it to work in station mode and unless I'm right next to the unit with my pad it disconnects from the wifi connection, absolutely rubbish.

Overwhelmingly, the astrophotography software ecosystem leaves a lot to be desired, especially from a UI/UX standpoint. ASIAIR is a game changer. This app is simple, elegant, and approachable for both novice and veteran users, with enough features to satisfy most amateur projects. It's definitely easier if you buy into the whole ZWO product line-up but it also integrates easily with loads of non-ZWO hardware. The app gets out of your way and lets you focus on making beautiful images.

I bought a new tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab A7) just to operate the ASIAir Plus. Unfortunately the app didn't update specific functions relating to the time, even though the settings in the tablet (DST, correct time and date etc.) were correct. After fighting with this over a week I set the tablet down and started using the app on my Android, Samsung S21+. While the app works on my phone I wish the ASIAir Plus worked as advertised. In short: Sure hope ZWO Support is more helpful than they have been so far.

Firmware update issues. Updated today and wifi keeps disconnecting and when wifi is connected, the aisair is connected but it wont take pictures. It worked great last night

All up, excellent. I really like the new "flat" functionality with auto exposure. I'd like to see that expanded upon by showing the exposure time somewhere, the only way to see it (that I can find) is looking at the image filename. It would also be good to add a subsequent "dark flat" option using the same exposure time. Great work guys.

Exceptional product. I have used asiair since the day the first version was released. After that i never went back to aquiring astrophotos using a laptop. All of the controls i needed were built in and can control everything from my phone or tablet over wifi. I spend more time with my family as a result playing games or watching movies. Absolutely a game changer for any astrophotography enthusiast.

Very good. Need to be able to review images by clicking on them in the image list. Other than some general ui improvements I was successfully able to connect all devices up with ease. There is a bug in the object choice list where the item you search for gets lost and replaced by an updated list of objects not related.

With each iteration of the ASIair software, the experience as a whole becomes more and more enjoyable! ZWO continues to make Astrophotography and Electronic Assisted Astronomy a user friendly experience.

Wow, the app and the ZWO hardware that it connects to is a total godsend! The ease of use, accuracy, features, and firmware are regularly updated which has reduced the overall time spent on initial setup and narrowband imaging. For the best wireless environment, I have my whole setup connected via an external FriendlyWRT router and use Android emulation on PC.

I've been out of action for a while (health issues) since writing the previous review. It is all working well now. The issue was mainly the laptop, which is on the rubbish heap, and Bluestacks which I've given up on. Now I use Prime OS on a new (used) mini pc. ASIAIR is still 5 stars. Very happy with it. It hasn't missed a bit. Highly recommended.

I used to think astrophotography is ONLY possible with a laptop and billions of wires connected to a telescope, mount, and laptop . But thanks to the asiair pro, it eases the use of a laptop and converts to phone or tablet and makes it much easier and mobile to use anywhere and control things wirelessly even when we travel with of course the right equipment.

Have no problem apart from wifi keep disconnecting even with a wifi extender.

The app works great and the interface and very easy and simple to use. The developers have been steadily making big imporvements and adding powerfull features to the OS. I only which they would change their mind about supporting non-ZWO products, even if it's just ones that don't directly compete with ZWO such as iPolar, Pole Master, or Moonlite focusers. Users with these items can't simply buy a ZWO version because there is none.
