Askeroid Mobile Search Widget
Askeroid is a mobile desktop search widget. We offer 300 different Web search engines in our online catalog, and the number keeps growing! Add Askeroid button or bar widget to your home screen, choose one or more buttons for your most used search engines, and enjoy the full power of vertical search. Add your own search engines in our online crouwdsourcing platform.

If you have no idea what search engine fits your need best, use a new focused no-spam search engine (Blekko, DevilFinder, DuckDuckGo, Mooter, Beaucoup, Copernic) or natural language question search (Ask.com, True Knowledge,). You might be surprised at how good they are!
You can also use an old fashioned general purpose search engine (Google, Bing, Ask, Yahoo,) or try meta search across them all (Dogpile, Webcrawler, Hotbot). Several search engines can even make you some money (Swagbuck, MyPoints).
If you live in a non-English speaking country, we have for you national search engines (Baidu, Yandex, Terra, Eniro, entireWeb).
If the search engine you need is not listed or found inside Askeroid, use a feature "Not found" to send me a message. I quickly fulfill most (but not all) requests
- please do not ask for warez or porn! You are free to use such search engines but not through Askeroid.
INSTALLAskeroid widget may appear on home screen automatically after installation if your Android version and security settings allow it. Add it to Home screen manually if it does not appear. To install a widget: 1. Select the screen where you want your widget to be. 2. Either press Menu and then Add to Home or long press on the empty space on the screen until an Add menu appears.3. Press Widget.4. Select Askeroid 1x1 or Askeroid 4x1 widget type.Askeroid customization screen will pop out. Select the search engine(s) and visual style you like and press BACK arrow when done.
MULTIPLE WIDGETSYou can add more than one Askeroid widget to the same screen or different screens. Each widget can have a different set of search engine icons. However, each widget must also be customized separately.
USING WIDGET1. Press an icon of the search engine you want to use.2. Type on the on-screen keyboard. Your search string will appear in the search field above. 3. When done, press the search "Magnifying Glass" button on the right. Your search results will be in the browser window that will open.
To cancel, press a BACK key once to close a keyboard and twice to close the search field.

this has always been my favorite search app. Google Search turned into horrible bloatware. I made my homescreen beautiful with single askeroid icons. perfect. you would think the creator was from mit or something. dev, please don't ever unpublish this. it's essential to my android experience. also email me if you want the official kitkat Google G instead of that bad liking blue g!
I had this app on a previous phone and I LOVED it. I use it to have a swagbucks search bar instead of the Google search bar. But trying to set it up now, it won't let me customize the 4 search engines for the widget so it's basically useless. Very disappointing. Tried emailing the developer but the message bounced back.
Every time I try to use Google, it says "Unfortunately Askeroid has stopped working". I can use some of the other search engines but Google has never worked for me which is one of the main reasons I got the app :-(

Allows multiple search engines and results open in browser which is significant improvement over default android Google search widget

I usually do not use widgets, so it took a while for me to figure out how to make the 1 x 1 widget work, as I kept looking for some kind of confirmation button, once I had made my choices. Turns out I just needed to press the back button, and my chosen search engine would be in the spot I had selected for it. Clearer instructions and the ability for the user to add their own search engines would earn this application five stars.
I have the Droid Bionic with the current operating system and the loading instructions do not work. I do not have an 'Add to Home' option and the menu button doesn't add widgets. I have to add widgets through the application menu and askeroid is not listed in the widgets list. Pleade help for a better review.
The most search engines available compared to any other app of its kind. 4x1 widget is kind of ugly though.
This is just what I've been looking for! My main search engines right on the homescreen for easy access. And it opens with my default browser! :D
My most used widget, does everything I want perfectly :) but one thing, higher resolution icons please! Also maybe a transparent theme? Still the best search widget tho!
But I appreciate being able to do away with Google search when I have a choice. Duckduckgo ftw!
I have a Pantech tablet 4100 the app won't open. It only promt's me to put it on my desktopand it refuses to open

There are many different search engines available. However, they didn't have one that I wanted, so I requested it and eventually they added it!

Doesnt work well on HTC Legend. Works for while then locks on to one search engine.
This sounds like a great app that I could have so many uses for, but right now I can't set it up as a widget. It shows up as an app. Get it to work and I will gladly give it 5 stars.
