Not a bad app. But there could be a lot more useful signs listed on here. After paying for the prime package to get access to the whole app I have to say I was a bit disappointed by how few signs there were.

To be honest, its kind of frustrating to learn from some one who decides if she wants to talk in her videos or not. She has no side profile either so its kind 0f difficult to see some of her signs, and her angle on some makes it very difficult to see what it is she's doing, I have multiple apps to help me, just because of these issues. These would be some things I would change to help be a better app. And possibly sentence structure instead of just singular words.

I just started using this and I already have started downloading a different app. The videos I saw, the instructor was standing to far away with the video camera set on the floor? So the height was off - paired with the distance - and made it hard to see some hand movements. I feel it would be better quality to have the instructor sitting at a table with the camera level. Other than that it seems informational. Unfortunately just not the app for me.

definitely covers the first "chapters" in an any ASL class (school signs like subjects & places. also food, body parts, numbers, fingerspelling, etc). the video lesson will play once, and you have the option to replay. it loads quickly. i downloaded this as a refresher, but it didn't have a lot of variety. most of the next levels you would need to upgrade. so if you're looking for basics, this is okay. not hating on the app, just not what i was looking for.

It helped me learn sign more vividly but I already new most of it but if you're a beginner I definitely suggest it also has videos if you don't understand or need someone to explain it better. It has numbers, letter and a little bit of history it definitely inspired me to continue to learn sign language. It can keep you busy for a long time it explains the numbers not only in pictures but in words. But if you've a beginner this is it not so much if you know alot already.🙂🙃

I just wish I could get more specific with what I need to learn. I'm a tour guide and there are certain words and phrases I'm trying to learn and communicate well so my hearing impaired costumers can have the same amazing experience as out hearing capable costumers. However I have found this extremely helpful as a basis to learning and am excited to move forward so thank you!

The ads were a lot and the video quality could be better but I still found it helpful. I commend her for creating a platform to teach ASL. I have watched Youtube vidoes that were horrible and had lots of mistakes. I am hestitating to upgrade only because I really do not want to see ads if I pay. I will suffer the ads in the free version but not if I pay.

I was hoping for a visual dictionary. Under food, I was looking for "have you ordered yet" and other phrases for restaurant. What I found was things like "burrito" and "soda", which are fine but there are very few words and phrases in a huge category liek "food." Not as helpful as I wanted. Also, the menu and settings buttons in the left and right corners, respectively, do not work on my Galaxy Note 9. I push them, they animate showing I pushed them but nothing happens. Has potential.

Working at CaptionCall we give every call our all with assisting the hearing impaired to communicate all over the glob. I want to grow and learn how to communicate more efficiently and effectively through sign language, and the ASL app is the best way for me!

I am learning the American Sign Language. It will be a challenge, since I was borned with Cerebral Palsy. I have been challenge with my hearing. I really like the ASL, hope I can/will be able to use both hands to use sign language. It is a good app. to have, however, at times I have been in learning I my ABC's memory work, and working through some of the letters got moved arounnd.

I always wanted to learn to sign but it seemed so hard. ALS makes it easy and fast to quickly be able to do basic communications. I truly love the app. I see reviews saying the app is not free. REALLY? All of the starter information is. This app took money to build. It is a good app. The goal is to learn. Don't be so cheap. It cost less than a cup of coffee. Spend $3 to expand your knowledge. It is a GREAT value for the knowledge you will gain. 😋

Lowered to two stars for the fact that I purchased pro version back in 2020 but now the app is showing ads and the "restore purchase" does not work. :(

Would give 5 stsrs but there is room for improvement. The videos could have been done with a black or white background, with better lighting, and better focus on instructor with a face to face angle angle instead of the looking up angle that is noticable. Also the voice is not full , there is an echo from the emptiness of the room she is in.

Love the abilities it gives me!! I learned ASL in a High School 2 day course as I always felt bad when I worked in customer service I was unable to assist them to the best way I could. I kept pen & paper on hand but knew it wasn't enough after so many years of not using it enough and testing my memory I had lost some of what I had learned & in 2 days one can only learn so much. This app has helped so much for that & keeping my mind busy much better then mindless games!

The flashcard memory games are great for helping me get better at recognizing finger spelling, I appreciate the little children's rhyme videos and that she signs along with both the intro and the exit in addition to just the nursery rhymes. I keep wishing there were a set of prepositions or relational time exercises to learn things about how to express future and past events, like soon, used to, lately, or later or always or tomorrow. Overall, I appreciate the super practical nature of the app.

I'm trying to learn sign language to train my dog and talk to my mother who is losing her hearing. Excellent app, very easy to get started.

My upgrade is gone I had downloaded that app before and it was great. I wanted to learn more so I got the upgrade. Amazing right!! Well a few weeks later I had to restart my phone completely. Ok that's fine. I re downloaded some of my learning apps like this one but I no longer had the upgrade with man I got stripped from my money Edit: it's free until Christmas so I'll see how it is after that

It is excellent because I am learning basic American sign language. My doctor showed me this app and I'm so grateful The videos do buffer a little but you see how the motions are. There are ads in between some videos but at least the sign language is correct and up to date. I need to learn sign language because I am 65% deaf and my hearing loss is genetic so I will be fully deaf eventually. This app will help me learn

It's an ok app. It's good for quickly learning the alphabet and numbers through pictures, and the quick videos were ok. It's very simple and good for learning simple words. But you have to buy a lot of it which is a little annoying. You can still learn effectively but I would like to learn all of it without having to pay.

Unw. C. Jan 6, 2022

A pretty decent app with many words to choose from, but you have to.. pay to learn animal signs ? Some other signs or topics are useless, like little bo peep or barney loves you. Some of the layout is confusing, and the information can be questionable. Just needs some work, that's about it..

Hol. R. Feb 10, 2021

Very easy to follow. Nice stretches to get your hands ready for a workout. I did the alphabet and numbers before seeing the stretches and they make a big difference in how your hands and wrists feel. Love that it includes a health/medicine section.

I'm an RN, I downloaded like 30 ASL apps to talk to one of my patients family members and to continue to learn to sign (I half-assed learned 5 years ago). This app is great! Especially for what I was looking for to facilitate both communicating & learning in real-time. I love the pictures! And the ability for the other person to let me know exactly what they're trying to sign and say that I'm just not catching and what each sign meant.

Tim. B. Feb 2, 2021

Lots of handy stuff in this app, including images that can be used to communicate, if you haven't fully learned the hand signs yet. Plus, there are some interesting stories in the Deaf Voices section. Overall, most excellent!

D. C. Jun 9, 2021

This is a nice app if your just learning. It's also nice if you are actually hearing impaired because you can type what you want to say an your phone says it for you. It will teach you the alphabet, numbers and a few words. Definitely not for someone who already knows the basics. Nice app, but I hope I out grow it as I get better. Then I'll need something more advanced.

ASL lvl 3; learning later in life. LOVE the way this is set up. The memory game is great for recognition and translation 👏 learning signs and phrases is fun to explore. I was hoping for a dictionary of sorts bit this app is just too cool. I did notice prepositions in some of the videos. Is this Signed Exact English mixed with American Sign Language?

Lau. M. Apr 26, 2020

This is an amazing app. The only thing I'm having trouble with is some of the videos won't show. I've tried exiting the app and trying again, but it won't work. However, other than that, this app is absolutely awesome. I believe that everybody should know basic sign language, and with this app, I can finally learn it and recommend to friends who are struggling to learn.

Ken. C. Jun 26, 2019

Way too many ads. I understand ads in free apps but this has so many it turns into a waste of time. They are the ones that force you to watch for 5 seconds so every third word you are stuck watching a video game ad for 5 seconds.

Joh. M. Dec 21, 2019

Excellent app, the tutor is stellar. And it has great memory games to help you stay engaged and remember letters and numbers. Only reason for the 4 stars is that I wish there was a search function. To search specific words.
