Astea Mobile

Astea Mobile works with Astea Alliance, FieldCentrix and ServiceVision solutions, replacing paper-intensive, manual field service processes with standardized, automated and streamlined operations. Global mobile workforces are empowered with wireless access to the real-time information they need — when and where they need it — to eliminate inefficiency, enhance customer service and improve service margins and contract profitability. As work orders are scheduled the correct field engineer is notified via his or her wired or wireless device. Service technicians are armed with all the information they need to complete a service or maintenance job.
Work orders are sent wirelessly from the office and include customer account and job site information, equipment history and contract and warranty data — onsite, at the press of a button. Technicians have the ability to capture and submit service ticket information without the need for paperwork or for re-keying into the back office system. Service technicians can review and accept assigned jobs on their mobile devices as well, increasing productivity and accelerating call response.

Astea Mobile also allows technicians to manage their own schedules in the field while keeping the home office updated in real time. The solution also supports complete parts management from the field technician’s standpoint. It allows them to post parts used against the work order, request parts if they are not in van stock, track the technician’s van stock, receive inventory and ship parts back to the warehouse or depot for closed loop tracking of RMAs and vendor claims. Astea Mobile also provides optional real-time GPS tracking. When enabled it allows Astea Alliance, FieldCentrix or ServiceVision back office users to view the current technician’s location for the purpose of intelligently scheduling. This flexibility provides the office with a more accurate reflection of schedules, job scope and resources, enabling the operation to reduce the travel time and distance between jobs.

The technician can perform their job, using their wireless device, even when they are out of communication range the device will perform normally and synchronize when wireless communication is resumed. Astea Mobile also enables the service technician to communicate, via instant messaging, with other engineers, corporate office, warehouse or other predefined contacts as determined by the organization. This makes it easy for the field service engineer to stay connected and make sure that he gets everything he needs to deliver outstanding service.

To complex, clumsy, lacking in logical progression, frequent crashes, poorly thought out and utterly fails the KISS principle. When having to restart from clearing cache you lose all your history, doing timesheet is difficult as well as dealing with the materials tab. Nothing with this app is easy to do, looks like they tried to take the desktop version and make it usable on smart phone making navigation very difficult. This is still in beta testing! I would NOT even give it one star!!!

I didn't like think Astea could be any worse but then there was Astea Mobile Edge. If you have any input on weather or not your company should use this dispatch software tell them to run in the other direction as fast as they can! Very glitchy, not intuitive at all, sometimes I cruise right through the process, the next time it takes 10 minutes and a Rescue session with the office to get out of a call.

There are so many negatives to this app it's impossible to list them all. If your business is scheduled maintenance, or maintenance services in general, stay far away. Clunky interface, poor design choices, and constant glitches make this a headache for anyone trying to use it. I'd give it zero stars if that were an option.

Hard to log in back because I can't even see the option SWITCH USER. The only option was highlighted is NEWASTEAPROD. I have to closed out the app then re installed app again. Now asking for the server address. I was not able to finish all my order tickets for work. I did screen shots many pictures to show my Supervisor, Tech Support & IT.

It's unfortunate that I can't rate this thing with zero stars. It's just an app using webview to display the URL you enter in "server address." It reloads EVERY TIME you switch away from the app and back. It reloads EVERY TIME you wake your phone. It is SLOW. Completely unacceptable.

Astea Mobile Edge creates a nice amount of OT for the techs but definitely causes entirely too much BS on the back end. If by "Real Time" dispatch and processing you mean to add unnecessary time to a particular job, then nailed it!

If I could rate it in negative numbers it would be a -5 but they won't let you do that. Let's get down to the basics. Crashes a lot. Freezes up a lot. Doesn't save your changes a lot. Are you getting the hang of this yet. Worst app I have ever used. Drains your battery, why because it is running nonstop. Keep a charger with you at all times. So why would you use this? Because some engineer who has no real life experience tells your boss this will make your company run smoother an save money.

There must be a kickback involved in the use of this garbage. No program in history so poorly written would have survived as long as this. Even Microsoft abandoned Vista faster than this has been fixed, and that is an OS. If I am going to get paid to struggle with this app, though, I guess it all pays the same...

Worst since latest app update. No notifications for work order on first instance. Later when work order is removed that's when you get an alert. Even though being constantly on screen doesn't alert. Not sure why businesses are still using this highly non user friendly and counter productive software.

I cant give it less than 1 star. It is garbage. I cant believe that the company behind this app can stay in business. It is so frustrating to use and if this improves your productivity then the carrier pigeons and stone tablets that you were using should have been replaced 1000 years ago anyway. More bugs than a pathology lab.

GARBAGE, guess what we get for being forced to use such a low rated app. Note learn (force stop then clear cache) has helped me many times. Idea is good but execution is awful, design is clumsy,and it just doesn't work well at all. Anything above 2 stars is either designer, bs, or so old that it barely did anything to not work. Because it is a horrible app

Astea as a whole seems to be very buggy. My company has been trying to implement it for a year and it still doesn't work correctly. Also seems like you have to reinitialize the app way too often. Much later and still the world's stupidest app. Beware if your company ever decides to start using it. My company now cares more about how you use the app than how you do your actual job. It's like the app has brainwashed them.

Astea time consuming. Cannot do all my Calls.Time customer was called, ETA time, time left home, time arrived onsite, time left site and time arrived home for each call. Have to enter what work was done, twice. Have to select problem description, resolution, if call resolved from drop down lists. If you attach part from your inventory to wrong call, there is no way for you to put it back in your inventory and put it on right call.The office has to fix that on their version of astea. Complicated

Can't login. Even our IT peoples failed to diagnosis the problem. Tried by clearing data, reinstalling and even formating the phone. everytime it states - USER DOES NOT HAVE A VALID MOBILE CONFIGURATION SET.

Total waste of time. Version 14.0+ is full of errors. Did nobody think to test it before deploying it globally. I have had to revert back to hand written tickets for customers because the new app is such a failure.

I cannot believe my employer is actually paying me $ to use this wonderful app.. My productivity has diminished yet my paycheck just keeps growing because Astea mobile has so many on going issues daily, it takes me three times longer to complete the most simple tasks...I love Astea, it is a money making tool for everyone except for the employers who attempt to migrate their staff into using it.
