COLORS
The AsteraApp offers several ways to select colors such as color-wheel, Filter Gels, color temperature, HSI, RGB and CIE 1931. Thanks to Astera’s ultra-precise Truecolor calibration, Astera fixtures can display the precise color that was selected.
PROGRAMS
Create programs out of colors, effects and settings. The lights will remember and repeat these effects without requiring a constant wireless link.
LAYERS (new in V11)
It is now easier than ever to control pixels of your Astera lights and create complex effects and combine several effects to one program.
TARGETS
Quickly create groups of lights, assign positions and select which lights should receive commands. With the alternative targets view (new in V11) you can see which target is running which effect and quickly adjust effect and brightness.
TALKBACK+
Detect all available lights, set them up, check their status, configure DMX addresses and DMX presets.
SEAMLESS RUNTIME
Set the length of your show and be sure that your lights won’t run out while still getting the maximum brightness.
DJ FEATURES
Auto BPM analyzes the beat and matches programs to it, Flash buttons can trigger special effects while being held down.
THEFT ALARM
With built-in sensors the lights give visual and audio alarm and send notification to the AsteraApp™ if they are being moved during an event.
SCHEDULED STANDBY
Send lights into power-saving standby and schedule them to wake up and sleep at certain times.
ANTI FLICKER
Avoid flickering in recorded videos by adjusting the PWM frequency of the lights.
PLEASE NOTE: This app is designed to control Astera lights and requires an ART7 transmitter. Without Astera lights and transmitter box it won’t work.

I'd love to give a better rating, but I invested hours in trying to resolve connection issues. After a successful connection, disconnecting an reconnecting prompted to update the AsteraBox ART7 from 5.9.x to the newest version 5.11.x. This update fails during the transmitting and it is no longer possible to establish a connection with the box. This is a per smartphone fail, as I was aible to get the same procedure-failure with another device. At least the DMX output isn't influenced by this.
Incredibly laggy interface, does not correctly report fixture settings. Cannot be trusted half the time, and without perfect line of sight forget about it. This is either a problem with the app or the ART7, as wireless DMX works fine in similar environments but the app will only reach a fraction of the fixtures. Makes the wand useless for applying settings to a group. This is a professional app, and I am seriously tired of having to use it. Please improve this garbageware. Edit: In response to the developer... Good grief, don't tell me how many shows they are working properly on, I have been using your gear as long as anyone on the planet minus the builders themselves. I have been using your app for years. Part of your issue is that vendors rent the tablets out. The Google Play account is theirs, and sometimes they lock the end-user out of downloading new apps. This prevents updating firmware in the field, and when you have had the warehouse bring you three different non-functional kits previously, I took one that actually worked and failed to make sure everything was up-to-date because time had become an issue. Long story short too late - don't get combative with me, it is a dumb idea. I am telling you you need to fix your update process so that it can be done through the app directly and without playstore BS. If that is impossible because Google, make a PC app and I will never use this one again.
Can't even sync the lights without manually setting the radio pin in each fixture. Each time I select to pair the lights, I get the initially instructions pop up and then I press ok, everything disappears back to the home screen of the app. Tries uninstalling & reinstalling and every other thing you can think of. IOS version works fine as I tried my bosses. Had issues with the old android app as well. Will change my review when it actually works.
EDIT: Great app and even better support, was working flawlessly on IOS devices and after some quick troubleshooting it now works on my Note 9. Original 1* review "Won't allow me to connect to ART7 box, only can connect on legacy app which lacks the required features."
One of the best apps for wireless lighting control. It is super intuitive and easy to use with tons of features and effects for a great light show and offers great control of all Astera products.
App will not let me connect a brand new asterabox no matter which device I'm on. It continues to say incorrect pin.
I can't connect the astera box art 7 to the app. It only works with astera app classic. I am using a samsung s9+

Fiddly to operate
After a recent update, the app has become unusable and honestly an embarrassment to use on set. Bluetooth connection to the AsteraBox used to take a few seconds at most and was automatic. Now, whenever I unlock my phone to use the app, it's a 50/50 gamble of whether or not it'll connect automatically, and when it does connect it takes between 1-2 minutes, which is an unacceptable amount of time when you're trying to light a commercial project. Please fix this.
