Astonishing Comic Reader

Used to work totally fine, and suddenly getting, "an error prevents us to finalise purchase, please check internet connection" and it won't find my whole collection of comics. Unusable.

Literally can't get this app to do anything. I checked off the option to automatically add my pdf files and nothing happens. When I try to navigate to a pdf or cbz/cbr to import it, I can see the file but I can't select it to import. Uninstalling.

Used to be perfect, but since the latest update I can't use it - entire local comic library not found and a message comes up: 'an error prevents us from finalizing your purchase' even though I've never tried to purchase anything. It also tried to connect to Google play and charge me. Hope this issue gets resolved quickly. *great to hear from dev that 3.33 has been rolled back to 3.32 pending a fix*

Creating a library is so difficult and confusing. Not at all user friendly. No matter what I do it puts all my comics in one place so I have several #1's, #2's, etc... Sometimes it just skips issues altogether, showing me only issues 13, 14, 16, 19, and so on. I want it to be better but it is not. Very disappointed.

Absolutely love the app, very clean, very smooth, absolutely no ads, and easy to use. Except one thing: Can you guys add a "selection mode" where I can add multiple comics from a library folder to a reading collection? Currently I have to manually add one by one. And the feature that lets me add multiple ones, shows every single detected comic book. Still giving it 5 stars just because how good is app is. <3

Suddenly can't open CBR files, find my SD card, and keeps asking for an internet connection. I reinstalled it to try and resolve the issues, but it didn't help.

This app is my favorite Comic reader on Android. Got a new tablet, installed the update..... and none of my comics were found. Screwed around trying to fix it forever before seeing that the update had caused an issue and the developer was rolling it back. Unistalled and reinstalled and it all works again. Glad I wasn't going crazy, and that the developer listened to the reviews and fixed the issue 👌

Pleased with interface. I don't like how the app doesn't follow the numbers of the comics - for example I imported all issues of a certain comic, from 1 to 50, and started reading it at 10, and it keeps recommending older issues for reading instead of the ones that come numerically after it. I also don't like that you can't delete comics in app. I like the screenshot feature a lot, but I can't find the screenshots in my phone, they just stay in the app.

The app pretty much works as intended. The only issue I have is sometimes the snapshot feature doesn't add the picture to my camera roll. Pretty much better to just screenshot instead. The other issue is sometimes when adding comics, they won't show up for like 5-7 mins. Aside from that, it's great for people who want to read comics but don't wanna buy them.

The import/export didn't work at first, but after I exited the app and opened it again, my comics were imported into the library. Overall, I am happy with the app, but there's one thing that buggs me a bit - when I enlarge a page and want to slide it sideways, it often flips to the next page. it's a minor inconvenience, but I wish there was some ways of preventing that from happening.

App is just awesome! It could be my ultimate reader if you could make the orange upper bar go away without the need to turn the pages. It's kinda annoying. Maybe a single tap on the page could work? Also, sometimes when you open the app the covers of your comics will just disapear. You still can access the magazines normaly but I have a warm feeling when I look at my collections. Solving these and it will get 5 stars!

Well, I got this app because I have a lot of comics on my laptop and wanted a more convenient way to read comics on the go. It was easy enough to import them, and the collections ability made it easier to group them together, so I only have two complaints. 1, you should be able to order the collections in the order you want to read the comics in. 2, the thumbnails for the collections are broken, some show the wrong thumbnail and some show no thumbnail at all. Other than that, it's an awesome app

I love the app. The way that comics are displayed in the library is real nice and smooth. I would upgrade this to a 5 star review if it would have a default zoom option. When in portrait mode it would be nice if you zoom settings would be applied to more than just the page you zoomed or for the page to fill it to the top and bottom since there are a lot of comics out there with wide blank borders. Anyway, great app! Keep up the good work !

Nice looking UI, but functionality could use some work. the task of managing folders is frustrating. I'd like to see the ability to create sub-collections within collections. For instance, if I wanted to make a DC collection, and then have individual titles collections within that collection. And to sort collections alphabetically too. Another big change needs to be the way the comic fits on the screen. Add different choices for how it fits "fixed height, fixed width, original size, etc".

Close. Not perfect, but a really good reader. The lack of thumbnails on folders looks really drab... and the cropped thumbnails (They're not the right ratio, so you can't see the complete cover art on any of your titles) make the library screens into bit of a hot mess.... But it's still the best option on Android for anyone used to Chunky Reader. This app has promise. It could be the definitive comic reader for Android with more options.

Very good comic reading app. Easy to use, would highly recommend. The addition of a Manga mode is very nice. Though I would like to recommend some improvements: 1. Allowing us to highlight multiple comics in order to add them to a collection (picking from a list is finicky) and 2. Making it possible to turn Manga mode on and off easily and directly from the reader, for those of us that like reading both traditional comics and Manga. Having to go to the settings menu each time is a bit annoying.

Not a bad viewer, only needs some improvements to make it awesome. Being able to move comics around when in collections would help alot, because if they're not in order and you need to rearrange them, you'll need to manually remove them and add them again. It would make for a better user experience overall. Same for the library.

I think it was best described by another user - the app works so well that you don't notice anything about it at all. Doesn't interfere with your reading - the UI is really easy to navigate - nothing confusing - nothing complicated. Just select your root folder and your comics appear. I specifically like that they can be organized in collection, which is super convenient. Overall fantastic app, thanks guys!

Best reader by far. Has such a clean and easy to use UI and can read a ton of different files. You can download comics straight to your phone and unlike some of the other apps where you have to manually search for them through all your files, this app will have them ready to go in your library. I can't recommend this app enough.

Best I've seen so far, very clean features and interface but a few things can be slightly confusing at first (like renaming a comic in the app doesn't affect the sort order because it doesn't rename the file) and occasionally the cover art can be a bit glitch, but these are really minor problems. Overall it's fantastic.

A pretty smooth application. The files are recognized from the device within a reasonable time period. Could've got the zoom feature to zoom just a tad bit more. But overall, very good. Definitely would recommend and already did to a few very recently. Won't disappoint. Never had much problems with it...

Syncing comics is a horrible experience. It's tedious as I can only import a comic one by one not in a batch. It also never lets me know when it's done syncing the one comic unless I close and reopen the app. Otherwise it just spins forever pretending it's still syncing with a message that literally says "We're synchronizing your collections. It'll be super fast!" You can't synchronize collections plural and is it fast? You don't tell me when it's done.

It has some niggles such as a weird unnecessary screen when you finish comics, doesn't have a way to show folders of sets just shows either all the covers or you do folder list view, I think you have to put comics in downloads folder? I don't like the orange only theme, the collections view is kind of pointless to me. Having said all that the navigation and controls are reasonably good, there's lots I would improve but I don't mind it generally and use it a lot though I may try others.

Let's see it's a comic book reader that has an idiotic auto detect feature....already you know that's not a good thing. The app will not find things in dirrctories,, as it won't search directories. I put a bunch of comic books into the document directory on my SD card. Can this app find them? No...it doesn't even read most extensions it says it's supposed to. This app is a fine example of programming with no testing or caring to test. Don't bother with this app.

App is pretty good. Only complaints i have is the library only shows folders that the comic files are in, with no option to have a list of root and sub-folders to keep things organised. Also collections are listed in reverse alphabetical order. That should be an easy thing to correct. Otherwise, this is the comic viewer I've enjoyed the most.

I would love to give this app more stars, but alas I cannot. While the design and experience are overall good, and who doesn't love free, I have trouble getting my imported CBZ files to work. It magically found my Comics folder on my SD card and imported those, but only a fraction of the files work. The ones that do work open and skip the first page. Refreshing for newly added files requires a full restart of the app to get it to populate. Looks like I will have to go elsewhere for an app that can do the simplest of things

This app is as smooth as it could be. This one was the first and only reader i had tried to read comics on my phone and well as long as I can see, it would be remain so in near future. Only problem I faced is sometimes it multiplies the comics icons in the home tile. That makes the things messy. Otherwise a good and practical app. Thumbs up.

By far, the best, most easy to use, easy to view digital image reader out there to date! Simple, easy and clear mobility and functionality when viewing digital visual files. I love the instant cover previews offered by this app when browsing through my library on what to read next. It affords me to select through large icons, so that I don't need to maticulously search through my vast library of books for what perks my interest next. Incredible app.
