Astraware Crosswords

Originally thought that this was an excellent UK English crossword. And in some respect it is, functionally, but some of the abbreviations used in some of the clues do not make sense. E.g. "mo" on some planets is short for month. That was a recent example. The puzzle itself appears to work well and the graphics are clear. Just the clues are irritating sometimes.

After a year of playing this is getting worse - the keyboard is incredibly laggy and unresponsive, it would be better to use the built in keyboard as it really slows us down. 2) the game seems to have become more American over the time we've played it. It used to be enjoyable and the ads don't seem intrusive, but I'm looking for alternatives as the Devs don't seem interested in fixing the issues.

Finally after 3 years of playing this app I've had all I can take off the crappy keyboard! It was fine about 2 years ago before the developers downgraded it to a sluggish, laggy, and very buggy affair, horrid to use, and was 'lorded' by developers as a great upgrade! (laughable) . Upgraded my phone to something much faster, yet performs even worse. You can start typing in one clue and then it randomly jumps to another whilst typing!! Very counter productive and frustrating! = UNINSTALLED 😖

Edited my review after some time with this app. I'm very disappointed that the one decent British crossword puzzle app suffers lazy (and often incorrect) crossword clues taken from everywhere else. The built in keyboard is bad, why would it even be necessary. The moment I began it recommended an easy puzzle, I clicked the button and saw that it was instead a hard one. Lots of clues are ridiculously vague, others require research: seed coat is not called an aril. Aril is an accessory seed coat.

I have tried it crossword apps and until now have stopped using them for one reason or another including not being British English, not much choice etc. This one I had no hesitation of quickly switching to the paid version. Great app, plenty of crosswords to choose from and challenging.

I prefer the older version on my NOOK HD+. The font and puzzle square are smaller. There is no timer so you can take as long as you like to finish a game. And the graphics aren't annoying.

Good number of puzzles. Language not Americanised too. Time lapse earnining of points (flag) system to play puzzles a little frustrating, but watching ads alleviates, although that isn't explained well.

I really liked the crosswords for the first 2 days (though a little annoyed at the constant attempts to force me to sign up to be publicly displayed on a leader board; I do crosswords for peaceful pleasure and mental stimulation, not for competition). Then I got to the third day... life got in the way part way through completing my first daily and I didn't get back to finish it until the following morning, which apparently means that I'm not entitled to complete any puzzles today 🤨

Was better before the newest update... The arrows to tab from clue to clue on the daily games are occluded by the timer. The whole reason I play this game is for the daily puzzles. -2 stars for updates that 'fix' things that aren't broken..

This is a great little puzzle game. I do the daily crossword every day -- its fun and helps keep me sharp. I give the game 5 stars. I don't know what "rate the controls" or "rate the gameplay" means as opposed to rating the game.

Have always enjoyed this app but recently my score has appeared as Silver level, even when the time has fallen within the Gold or Bronze levels. Edit: happening again. Not critical, just annoying.

Not British style at all. Some of the answers make absolutely no sense to the clue. Not sure if it's trying to be a quick crossword puzzle or a cryptic one. Don't be both. That doesn't work.

Very good overall. Keypad is bit of a letdown. Too few puzzles for a day (should be six). The solution times for free puzzles should also be available to see.

Good selection of crosswords but none are particularly demanding; no cryptics. Also, I found the keypad unresponsive and the animations irritating.

Good, but two of the crossword options when you collect points haven't been available for ages.

Great game, I love the daily challenge when having a cuppa, it starts my day off nicely by waking my brain up in a gentle manner. Keeps the brain working in a nice way. It's in UK English because I'm fed up of USA spelling in crosswords. Really recommend this game.

Love the puzzles. The keyboard lags a LOT. letters take time to appear on the screen. i only face this problem on your app. possibly a bug you can fix..

Good, but the keyboard is really unresponsive which makes typing in the answers really frustrating. Spoils an otherwise great app.

As combo visual/audio learner, the Super visual & audio effects at each turn makes me really enjoy this app much more so than others.

Educating and competitive. Simple but difficult. I play daily. Only 4 puzzles per day is not satisfying though.

The most dreadfully unresponsive keyboard in history. Waste of time. Painful. Imagine toothache in every tooth in your head.....that's preferable to the keyboard in this app. Disgusting.

Fun game--which is what games are supposed to be. Ads are short and nonintrusive. Easy to learn and use. A 5-star game for sure.

terrible keyboard. If they fix the keyboard the game would be okay. just downloaded it, and tried to play one game but keyboard would not work.

love this game easy to type in words, hints work great and i love the scoring. I'm addicted to being in the top 10% and cant put it down til I score above 90 !

Really good, lots of tough crosswords but with a compliment of easier ones for relaxing to.

The SUBMIT button placed (just above the HINT button), gets pressed by mistake. There should be confirmation popup if SUBMIT is pressed.

Food for the mind Crosswords The easy clues are wonderful the hard ones frustrating. A daily stretching of the intellect.

I have a lot of fun and it keeps my brain stimulated. I enjoy it more than most other crossword games.
