Astrill VPN

The Windows version works good but the android version is REALLY unstable! First of all you don't always get to the screen where you can actually connect to the vpn but get stuck at "please wait while we process your request". If you get to the screen where you can connect and successfully connect to a server, it always disconnects after around 5-10 minutes, no matter what server. Don't rely on this app for emergencies, make sure u have a backup vpn!

It is constantly requiring updates, which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't a blocked website, but it is. So I need another VPN just to access the updates when they come out. For the past month on my phone it says it is connected but no data is getting through. I even tried to use my laptop, download the latest apk file then transferred it to my phone to reinstall the latest and still nada. I had to use ExpressVPN just to write this because I couldn't connect with Astrill.

signed up for the 30 day free trial. got an invoice for $99.90 without any explanation or way to dispute it. website says as long as you use one device, you can use the VPN for free on android but there is no button to select that. 3 stars for the VPN working the entire 30 days without much issue. knocked off 2 stars for the invoice and the false "free VPN" thing. edit: I shouldn't be getting an invoice immediately after signing up for the 30 day trial. app could include more information

Having a list of problems since updating my Samsung S9+. Bixby doesn't work with the VPN on, and Bixby isn't in the application filter. I can't download large files from the app store, because I have to wait for a WiFi connection, even though I am on the WiFi. Keeps disconnecting from 2.4ghz connections, but 5ghz is stable, very inconvenient if you're in a coffee shop that doesn't have 5G WiFi. None of my issues have been addressed in the new update, other than being more stable on Android 9.

I think the app os really well put together. Everyone in my school uses this app as it is the most reliable. All and all i rarely have issues with connection and accessing my apps. The only issue im having is my account is running out and it wont let me email a friend to extend it or an option to pay another few months. Thats why im giving it 4 instead of 5.

I'm a long time user and I'm really getting tired of the bugs. I've started using Wireguard a while ago because openweb didn't work entirely (it connects but can't open anything) and stealthvpn often won't even connect (it also takes forever to try out a few servers). However, Wireguard will stop working after a while (suddenly websites won't open) and when trying to disconnect the VPN the app consistently crashes. I'm in China btw, if that helps the Astrill team for a little bit of focus.

It used to be an excellent VPN for users in China, I still remember its low latency while I was playing the elder scrolls online, high speed while downloading youtube videos, whats more, I can still use it in some *SPECIAL* days. However, it was long, long ago, Astrill has changed nearly 2 years ago. Its connection became unstable, I have to reconnect to server every 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes I could even loss my connection when astrill is *CONNECTED*. Please fix it, I've used it for 5 years.

Let's start with the good... the PC version is alright. Connection is stable once connected Now to the bad: - Most servers will be detected as a VPN by Netflix - it takes 30 minutes to choose the right server on PC - it is absolutely a matter of luck to choose the right server on cellphon - between open, wireguard, stealth and 100 servers it takes forever to pick the right combination to log in - no speed test so I need to try every server by hand - very expensive for such a bad app

The android app is horrible. When using it the connection can randomly break and not only the VPN is dropped, normal internet connection gets broken as well. I have to go into setting-> applications ->Astrill VPN and force terminate the app and restart it in order to make things function again.

This VPN doesn't work anymore. While I set up the ISP to be in America, it still shows my ISP to be in China. I can't access websites without being blocked as a robot, and I can't easily access Google in English as it always reroutes me to Hong Kong IF I can gain access at all. Next time I need to renew, I'm going with NordVPN instead. I'm sick of all the issues I have to deal with using Astrill.

Works really well and has fast speeds if connected to the correct server. Please put a speed test and favourite function on the mobile version ASAP, it's seriously frustrating not having one. That's the only thing stopping it from being a five star service.

The VPN worked great been using it for years! The only disappointing thing is your customer retention, there is none. I committed a two year deal with my last renewal and when I tried renewing my account last month but your customer service agent you can't do the same price even though I've been using your service for past 7 years. So now I've signed up to another VPN service for 3 years. My feedback is... Look after your loyal customers.

Great app to use my Astrill account on Android. My only complaints are minor which I'm sure could be fixed. One, it needs to be able to turn in horizontal and vertical display modes for use on a tablet. Two, it would be nice if I could also download and use it on my Android tv, other vpn can, it is about time Astrill could too :)

I'm revising my review because it seems as if some bugs that I've encountered have been fixed and the VPN is running fast and smooth. There was a stability issue while using in mainland china but so far from testing, has been fixed. I will be testing for another week or so and if it continues to work well, will be updating to 5 stars.

PC Client is fine, but the Android App is just pure dogshit. I'm not sure when it started, but everytime I turn on Astrill now, my entire phone just freezes for 30-60 seconds, usually crashing whatever apps are open as well. I'm gna go look for an older version and reinstall in the meantime because this is unacceptable for a paid service.

Service is intermittent, with the server disconnecting itself sometimes over PC and very often over mobile. Rating 2 stars instead of 1 because customer svc was very responsive. They gave a solution that solved the problem but only for a few days. Now i have to keep resetting my IP and hoping for the best. Hope Astrill can fix server stability, especially for users in [C].

Love it. It's simple and fast. It lacks the suggestion of the optimal server by ping or speed though. And the tap on the plate "tap to open app and manage settings" in the status bar does nothing. Apart from that I'm satisfied with the app

Can speed test and use it on the PC without an issue, however the mobile app is becoming increasingly bothersome. It takes an age to connect to servers and often gets stuck when doing so. Compared to the PC app the options are limited and its slow, though once connected it's reliable.

Great App, sometimes it gets slower but I guess the reason is because Ch..i..n..a is always trying to block all types of VPN. Ive been a client for 3 years and I will continue to be for the next few years. Every time I contact with them to solve a problem they promptly solve it. They really know what they are doing. If you are using Chin..e..n.ese technology it will probably not work as good as on Western (like Huawei vs Apple)

Used to be good from within China but service has declined considerably recently. Numerous connection errors, servers that won't connect, and failed handshakes. Their UK servers also do not work at all for things like BBC iPlayer, even with their 'StealthVPN' connection. They should not be charging what they are for the current level of poor service. Not worth almost 100USD per year at all.

Customer service is terrible, in other hand astrill is good and fast in china for movies, youtube and all that, but it takes like 2 mins to connect to whatsapp, also all the banking apps detected it and blocked my accounts everytime i used it, this didn't happened with express and if by any chance you didn't like it, you wont get a refund even if the website says it, they will trick you until the 7 days passes and you cant get it, so if you dont like it, dispute the charge asap with your credit card. Also customer service is really bad.

Without taking up so much time.. This is the best VPN hands down! Specially if you're in China. I've tried ExpressVPN before, and I don't know how they keep getting great reviews. Astrill VPN has never failed me! Always consistent and always available no matter what's happening! My friends and I always recommend AstrillVPN to all of our friends.

I've been using Astrill for 2 years. It makes me mad all the time. their online "24/7" chat doesn't work for months, messages via contact form can be not answered for days. if you need apk file there is no option to download it directly from the website. After connecting to the server my phone becomes a brick for several minutes. I was trying to get help from their support but they are not answering. so I got another VPN, 3 times cheaper and they helped me in a minute.

I use it in China, I've been living in China for 2.5 years, what I can say, I pay for substitution for this vpn. I use it on my Samsung s10+, it works so bad, I tried to connect to some countries servers and the slider freezes in the middle and I can't exit the application or go in and the temperature of my phone becomes very high, it's right hot. Just restarting of my phone help to fix it. Now I use Chinese vpns cheaper, better . Last time I paid for astrill. I will make review on my YouTube

I've been on express VPN in China for three years. Finally got tired of it being down constantly lately, and switched over. Night and day difference. Astrill never drops connection. Can actually use the internet in different rooms of the house now. Can actually stream Netflix without constant buffering now. Astrill is head and shoulders better than any other VPN I've tried. It's like not even being in China internet wise.

To anyone that want to buy the package for a year. Let me share my experience. I paid 120$ for a year and after less than a month, the VPN stopped working for no reason. I send many messages and still didn't get a single answer to this day. The problem is still unsolved. Their online CS is as useless. They just send automatic answers or redirect you to their official support email that doesn't support anything. So, don't buy it expect if you are willing to take the risk to lose the money.
