Astronomy Picture of the Day

I am a huge fan of this app. I watch new photo releases every day since several years. I only have a problem since a week or so (for the first time), title and description are visible but not the photo. That is frustrating. It seems like I am not the only one. I dont have any storage problem on my phone, and the app is up to date. If someone knows how to fix this please, let me know ! thanks.

Excellent app. I love how it automatically changes my phone's wallpaper to the latest, usually gorgeous, APOD. The only reason I don't give this five stars is because it doesn't have an option to simply view the APOD without any cropping. In fullscreen mode, the image fills the screen, it doesn't fit to the screen. Both options should be available, as well as an "actual size" option, which would display the image at its native resolution.

It's been my favorite and most reliable. I've used this app for more than 3 or 4 yrs as my daily automatic pic, and it's only crashed maybe twice that I can remember. Easy, carefree for the most part and convenient for automated daily upload pic. This latest problem with the pics not loading is by far the biggest and longest however. We hope it doesn't last to long. It would be a 5, but obviously not anymore.

It seems like the developer has given up on this app. It no longer works, and nothing has been done to remedy this problem. I hope whoever is in charge of this app is doing alright. I really enjoyed getting new and often topical daily photos of space stuff automatically set to my phone background everyday for the last several years. If you can fix the functionality of this app, I will gladly change my review back to 5 stars.

Quite a good app. Yet, it could be near-enough perfect with the following features: 1. Calendar to go through and get the astronomy picture of the day from a given date. 2. A button to load a random picture from the archive. 3. Ability to favourite certain pictures. 4. Date written next to each photo on the feed.

EDIT: I've had to drop my rating because multiple times now, I've discovered this app keeping a wakelock ALL DAY long. I'm not sure what it even needs to hold a wakelock for, but it's obviously not properly releasing the wakelock. I've tried out every APOD app on the Play Store and this is the overall best one. It has a dark theme, it has daily notifications, it saves images in full quality to it's own directory, and there's a nifty feature to auto-set wallpaper if you want. I just wish we could set the violet/magenta action bar color to something else (I'd prefer gray or black).

I used to have this app a few years ago. I loved the spectacular and mesmerizing pictures presented daily! Wanted to stick to the same one, but the pictures don't load up. This is like burger king not having burgers. It's literally in the name! Disappointing. If the developer could fix this, it would be great. Until then, 1 star is the appropriate number of stars for now.

Has no photos, just spins as tries to load the pictures. Got notice when I first opened it that this version, the one I JUST downloaded, does not work with Android v 11 at least, who knows might not work with v10 either?? So this notice told me to check for an update? So developer do you have an update that corrects the most current version of APOD I just downloaded??

I've used this app for 4-5 years now, on both Samsung & LG devices on 4 versions of Android, & absolutely loved it. Sadly, as many have reported, it stopped working in late April. Pictures no longer download. Would've given it a 5 till that started. Update: Today I opened it & got a message it was written for an older version of Android & may not work properly, & to look for an update. Sadly, still no update & still doesn't work. Looking for an alternative now. 😢

I love this app. Having the images as my wallpaper always generates a discussion with friends, family, colleagues and strangers. I seem to have hit and miss results with the wallpaper automatically changing, but opening the app fixes that. Very inspirational

Love the app, especially the ability to download pics every day and set the wallpaper. Unfortunately it stopped downloading and displaying images about a week ago, even within the app. Looks like it needs an update.

I would normally give this a 5 but lately when the app loads the photos do not load. All I get is the description and the title but no pictures. I've been using apod for over a year but now it is worthless. I even uninstalled and reloaded it and that was useless it still will not load the photos. Please fix. End of line

It was working so well with updating my wallpaper daily until recently. For the past few months, since March I think, the pictures don't load anymore. It is really a pity cos I loved this app. It would be great if the creator would fix it! There are people who still want to use your app :D

Such a pity it's stopped working. The app has been excellent for a very long time and has provided me with numerous backgrounds. I hate giving it 1 star but it's just not working anymore. To the developers, whether you decide to fix it or not, thank you for the years of great pictures.

Same problem as another recent reviewer!: no images. This review is by way of an alert, as I've used the app in the past with much pleasure and don't want to give it a bad rap. When it works, it deserves a solid four or higher.

I really enjoyed this app, but from the get-go it had trouble changing my Android wallpaper. And now it says it was built for an earlier version of the Android OS, and there's no update. ☹️ Hopefully someday someone will update this so the gorgeous views of universal beauty can resume! 🤗

Was great until it stopped updating. Ever since the last software update on my Note 10+, the app no longer loads pictures, only the name and description shows. I'm disappointed because this was one of my favorite apps. I hope it gets fixed!

It has worked wonderfully for years. I loved forward to each day's update. Stopped working on 26 Apr on my Samsung S10. Last system update was 7 Apr so I don't know why it stopped. Gets description, just not the picture.

I have used this since it came out, and twice it has given me the issue of no longer downloading images . This is the second time and it just won't work. Upsetting because I really loved the backgrounds.

Love the app as it has worked well for the past few years, but a few days ago no pictures. The text for each picture downloads though. Reinstalling did not fix the problem. 5/12 App still not fixed.

It worked very well for years and as of 2 weeks ago, it stopped working. It doesn't update and when I go to the app, it's just the description and gray screen, no picture. Any ideas?

This *was* an outstanding application. Then it stopped providing a picture (at least on my Samsung). An app with the word "picture" in its title that no longer provides an actual picture is worthless.

This app stopped downloading the daily pics to my SM-G930V. I deleted some files to get my memory from 96% to 94%. I verified NASA'S site. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I am getting the descriptions fine. It's not doing what it claims

I love this app but in common with other users I have found that the pictures no longer load up since about the middle of April. Hey developer! Update your software, please, we love this app. Update October 2020: still does not load pictures. Very disappointing.

This app used to work for me also but it hasn't worked in almost a year now. I really did like this up great pictures great explanations and links to more data. Please fix it I miss this app!!!!!!!!!

The app was the best, but now it is broken. I miss the feature that auto changed the wallpaper. I will update the review to 5 stars when the app gets fixed.

I love this app when it is working. It was being slow to post the latest photos but now there arn't ANY photos! So what's the point? Reinstalling did not change anything.

A nice app, but full screen image viewing often fails... leaves you waiting forever. Now (Jan.2020) it flatly refuses to work, crashing immediately after starting.

This was my favorite app for years. Always the first one I downloaded after buying a new device. This latest update made it no longer compatible with Android and I'm incredibly bummed. Do you plan on fixing that?
