Astrospheric - Astronomy Weather Forecasting

EDIT: Unfortunately, I can't give this app five stars anymore. I'm not sure what happened, but for a few months now the cloud forecast has been pretty inaccurate. For example: tonight was supposed to be 0% clouds for several hours. Yet, here I am at 10:30pm - when the app still says 0% clouds - and I have 70-80% cloud cover. It's unreliable, making it challenging to schedule imaging sessions, and clear skies are at a premium. Still love the other features, though.

I. LOVE. This. App! The interface is so clean, and provides a ton of information, but in a wonderfully intuitive way that I have not seen anywhere else. Forecasts are accurate and I've already sprung for the very reasonably priced pro package for those extra features like favourites and more advanced forecasts. Performance is high, and utility is maximum. It is my first and foremost observation app.

is it possible to add an address/location search function? it would be faster and easier than going to another map app to locate the exact location and then trying to scroll/zoom to it on your map in order to save it as a favorite. i love all the other functions and tracking. haven't tested accuracy yet, but very excited about this.

Easy to use, intuitive, overall very useful. Not much to say but the fact it works. Sure you'll have the odd incorrect forecast but that's with anything involving weather. I use this exclusively to figure out when a good night may be to go and see some stars. Highly recommend for anyone looking to do the same.

I just installed this. The information content is exactly what amateur astronomers need. About the only thing I would like to see added would be the current temperature and maybe the current humidity for the current location displayed in the top bar of the screen. There is room to do this even on my phone and if added it would make it much easier to read quickly.

It's ok. My biggest complaint is it's accuracy concerning cloud cover. There have been many times that I didn't bother setting up because the app said we would have heavy cloud cover. Look outside...not a cloud in the sky. Or it will go the other way. Supposed to be clear and we have clouds. I know weather guessing is a tricky business, but better accuracy would be nice.

Great accuracy!! Love this app. It was a bit difficult to figure out what everything was without tool tips or titles... but it has gotten much better since last upgrade. couldn't beat the accuracy of when the clouds would clear or come rolling in, or the less obvious clarity and seeing information. A really good app! :)

A very practical, easy-to-use app for planning viewing sessions. Information is easy to understand and precise. Unfortunately, when opening the cloud cover, seeing, dew point, etc. buttons, I cannot seem to scroll down and see more information.

Super specific about temperature and other info. I especially love the moon phases bc you can plan to go out and see the stars during a new moon, and have the weather info In the same spot. Definitely not changing for the basic weather apps again. The storm map could use some real-time feed.

Very useful for astrophotography. My feelings about it are overwhelmingly positive, so the following should be read as an aside: It's odd that it frequently conflicts in its forecast with Clear Outside. I use both and I have tried to keep a tally of which one is right more often when they differ, and it seems to be 50-50. 🤷‍♂️

Great app. Very accurate in telling me how bad this year has been for imaging! Seeing calculations seem a bit off sometimes. Very poor seeing nights can appear average in the app or vice-versa, but I think this is unavoidable as seeing seeing is believing...and so hard to quantify at a micro level.

This app is fantastic! It has very detailed and accurate information about forecasted cloud and atmospheric conditions, weather, wind direction, and more that make it invaluable for astronomy, stargazing and astrophotography. I have yet to find another app that packs so much versatility and information into such a clean, easy to use package, and all for free! I highly recommend it!

This is the best app for planning a sky watch I've ever used. The Crewe Astronomy Club has 14 sky watches per year at Virginia State Parks. If the weather is cloudy, we perform an indoor planetarium program. Having this program has allowed us to plan ahead and determine what equipment we need to take. It's extremely accurate and dead-on even a week in advance. With the layers of visibility available for planetary or deep sky, we can put on better programs since we travel 1/3 across the state.

I found this app after purchasing a telescope and it has been amazing for helping me plan my observations. The forecasts for my area are incredibly accurate to the hour and even days in advance. Love it! The interface takes getting used to but makes sense once you do.

So far it is accurate and very useful In planning my observation outings. It is very easy to get specific information on the various sites which I observe from. There can be significant difference in conditions even in locations separated by a mere 50 mikes. I have 2 other apps I also use. They are more general in nature, but the Atmospheric app is king.

Atmospheric has become a very valuable tool in my photography pursuits. I essentially use it on a daily basis for weather/cloud scouting to find the best photo locations. It has allowed me to capture milky way and aurora borealis photo locations. I would have otherwise had to guess where I should go to avoid local weather!

UPDATE Responsive support from developer. Fixed the issue by clearing storage. Now my favorite app runs well. I could not find my location automatically. OLD Now does not work on my Pixel 3, I see a black background and the logo, it is stuck there.. Used to work very well.

An incredible tool for stargazing, under continuing development and constantly improving. Forecast times have just been upgraded, data is presented very neatly and intuitively, and I can't imagine life without it now. Every stargazer should have this!

Pretty confusing. What limited help seems to be available isn't even linked to what you press on. For example press on wind, and it tells you about temperature. Lots of jargon isn't explained. I am unable to assess whether the app actually does do a good job.

Never Accurate. I had high hopes for this app, the interface works well, and the extra info like sun and moon rise is fine. The cloud cover forecasts and even current cloud cover are never correct. Sitting in the rain last night and having Astrospheric tell me there was 5% cloud cover at my location was the final fail. This was the third time in two months I planned an outing based, in part, on Astrospheric to a dark sky area to photograph the Milky Way, and the third time it's been wrong.

I use this app daily to get fairly spot on predictions of my local weather and seeing conditions. It's a must have app for amateur astronomy. The only thing I'd add is a night or dark mode for the main map so we could see a better contrast of cloud cover.

This is a wonderful and incredibly useful app for optimizing one's astronomy and astrophotography sessions. It's easy to use and laid out well. It gives you a wealth of information to quickly determine if your local conditions are right for your tentative plans.

This is really awesome! As a newbie to astronomy, having an app like this helps me make the most out of each session, going in with realistic expectations. Phenomenal job to the developer!! App is really useful and very beautiful.

this app is highly inaccurate with regards to cloud cover. I downloaded both this app and clear outside. Only once has this app been correct and clear outside has been incorrect. I gave two stars because the interface is aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.

I love Astrospheric and use it every day to know more precisely the timing of weather changes. As an amateur astronomer, the app is indispensable. I have about 5 favorite observing/vacation sites saved as favorites. Awesome and accurate!

Genius! Monthly dollar subscription for optimal seeing forecasts is worth it's weight in gold! Found it to be extremely accurate and predictable. It will save me so much time and will give me time to plan my observing sessions. This, along with Mobile Observatory is all I need. To say I love this app would be an understatement.

This app is GREAT!! I use it everyday for my astrophotography. The only thing that would be nice to change, is to update sooner rather than every 6 hours. Even if I'd have to pay extra for it I would. Other than that app is awesome. Accurate atleast 90% of the time.

I worked at two observatories in the Pacific Northwest doing public programs/viewing, how I wish I had this app then. Anyone who likes the Milky Way, taking star trail pics, seeing ISS, learning a little bit about atmospheric conditions that astronomers consider, or does astrophotography like me, you will appreciate the info this app can provide. Lots inside so look closely. Pacific Northwest seeing is reliably unpredictable so can't fault the app for occasional inaccuracy in sky transparency.

I love this app! I use it to find out when there will be clouds overhead. Because that huge yellow ball in the sky and I have a deal. If I do NOT go out when he is shining down on me. He won't inflict any unwanted cancer's on my skin.😁 I also bought a subscription for a buck a month. Excellent price!

Not only does it display the relevant information in an easy to understand manner, it also goes the extra mile to add explanations to every relevant piece of information, a child could learn to use this app easily. Information is accurate and updates frequently. By far the best app for this out there.
