AT&T Call Protect

Used to be a decent app. Then it stopped allowing feedback to be entered when describing the nature of the call. Now, AT&T Active Armor Mobile Security has rolled out. It seems to be a revamped version of this same app but with a nicer GUI. That entails redundancy issues and conflicting permissions. In fact, I'm getting more spam calls now than I was before. If the ability to remove THIS old version is provisioned, I'd be on board with it. But, as it stands now it's added bloat.

Garbage with a capital G. I tried to install it on my device, and got a "Device Not Eligible" error, and the app quit. Called 611, talked for 36 minutes with someone to fix the problem, they did... something? Some incomprehensible byzantine thing relating to this company's 100+ year old database? Anyway, they asked me to restart the phone and try again. That did change something, instead when running the program it reports "Something went wrong": "The system is currently unavailable. Please check your connection and try again later." Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. Turning on/off Wi-Fi didn't help. This app is 100% useless, at least to me. I don't know how they got so many shills to rate it 5 stars. To the author: Why not just block spoofed calls before transmitting them to my phone instead of expecting my phone to figure it out?!? It's really something your switching equipment is privy to, not my phone. At least give me enough info on the call to block the phone company originating the call. Sheesh.

Great at blocking calls. But recently the app stopped allowing me to type anything when submitting a report. Being able to provide details about a spam call is important. This needs to be fixed. I updated today hoping it would fix it, but still nothing. I can't press and hold to paste anything, and tapping in the text box doesn't bring up a keyboard for typing.

this software is buggy, your session expires all the time and you have to setup again and you pay for both apps but only one works. I am supposed to get the security software included with my paid subscription, but I got to the security app and it says I have the basic plan and wants me to pay to upgrade... but I already did!!! The program blocks all new contact entries,, which is annoying. When it works its ok though, not groundbreaking. # lookup feature is not detailed or helpful ID'ing #'s

I use call protect all the time. It works great for blocking unwanted calls such as robocalls and other sales marketing calls. It also give you the option of blocking any caller from calling you again. However, I wished it work more like a caller ID and showed the name of the person calling right as the phone was ringing. However, once the conversation ends, you can look up the person in an advanced feature of this app. through reverse number ID. But you pay a lot per month for this feature.

I don't have a problem with the (free) app not blocking every call; scammers can generate hundreds of numbers so can't catch them all. The big problem is we can no longer type in any text, so we cannot create specific reports and add helpful data points. This has been going on for months; apparently no attempt to fix it. That is the loss of a very important and helpful feature.

Great as a concept, likely just a way to ask users to pay more, doesn't work 9/10 times. In the first few days since installing, it did show alert about suspected spammer, since then, nothing. So, either the database this one use is super old, or, they want the users to help themselves by blocking some numbers, and feel good about AT&T offering something which doesn't even work properly.

pretty good. Sometimes it does not show the name on all of the calls that are not in my contacts but overall, it helps with the spam and most names show up. Just wish it would work a little better with unwanted texts that come in with email addresses (non phone number) texts. Also, I know spoofing is difficult, but identifying spoof calls, if possible, would be great.

My phone will not stop ringing. Spam calls and telemarketing calls ring my phone off the hook. So I updated this app on my phone to block all those calls and when I try to open the app a box pops up and says " please turn on mobile data and disconnect from WIFI and VPN to ensure activation of your account is encrypted using our cellular network". It gives me the option to go to settings or exit app. Why isn't it working on my phone? HELP Still have not been contacted by developer. Ugh.

Horrible! I had this app previously when it was free and it worked perfectly fine. I canceled it once they began charging and recently purchased a subscription and it is horrible! It literally blocks EVERYONE including my contacts. I have to go and manually unlock people in my contact list and it RARELY gives you the call information for callers so that you know who to unblock, other than your contacts. This is such a waste of time and money! Ugh

Blocked my call back from AT&T!! Any sort of automated call you might be expecting, unless you have added it to your contacts will be blocked. Doesn't matter if it's from AT&T even. So don't select option to receive a call back and save your place in line. Notifications your rx is ready...blocked. It doesnt even block calls from Wyndham Resorts. They have endless list of numbers & since you can spoof a number, I don't see how this app helps AT ALL.

I give it no stars , because I downloaded it and opened it ! But that's as far as I got !! It kept saying that mobile data is required , turn off Wi-Fi and all vpn's & gives you 2 options go to settings Exit app I went to settings and checked & verified , I even turned my data off & then on again , took off my data saver !!!! I have unlimited data !!!! So if this damn app can't even recognize data , then how the hell is it supposed to recognize SPAM ??? Well I had to give it a 1 to post

may be switching this off. when i used phone fro. google i never had to write a report or get bombarded with ads to upgrade. very burdensome as they want you to write a detailed report about each spammed call you get. then you get an ad to upgrade for a fee. as a customer, Att should strive to eliminate these kinds of calls seamlessly. a simple block report option is all that is needed. very poor job. I. on the do not call list! I should not be getting these calls. come on. att. do better!

Pretty nice app for all the annoying phone calls. they need 1 for text messages Bad! There is a pay version which i dont feel is at all worth the $. other apps handle non call features plus 4 free or aprox$ FREE version is alot better now! It allows u 2 block known fraud calls from even coming through at all. U can pick 2 have spam calls go straight 2 voicemail. i use it for spam calls cause some medical, lawyers, & other possible import calls can show as spam. can delete Vmail easy & fast.

calls that are frequently used and even saved in contacts mark these calls as spam and makes it very difficult to receive calls from these individuals. I still get spam calls but don't get the calls I need/require to conduct business. if I could give less than zero stars I would. And the cherry on top is that it is an AT&T service therefore I'm stuck with it.

This app is great HOWEVER there's an issue that needs fixed. Won't allow me to type or bring up a keypad. Won't allow me to paste if I hold down on the field. This really needs fixed. I hope they fix it soon!! App developers: fix this please!!!!!!! It's important to be able to report fraud calls!!!!

I just downgraded this app from 5-stars. Loved this app but it's recently started to flag one of my favorited friend contacts (that I talk to on a daily basis) as spam so I can no longer receive her calls. She's calling from a private cell phone. There's no way in app to mark a phone # as safe in order to prevent it from going to voicemail or being blocked. This restriction is terrible & needs to be changed! We need to be able to mark individual #'s as safe so they don't get flagged as spam.

Horribly frustrating... it always asks for details but it won't let the keyboard come up to type anything... it also asks for the number of the call... AFTER it deletes it! Total waste of time and only reaffirms that AT&T is the scourge of corporate America.

Worked good until a samsung update, now when I report a call to upgrade my auto warranty. The key board doesn't come up. I have to leave it blank. Othwise than that, some calls do get through, but it not worth paying for, especially when I can't report. By the way I don't need the new update, it's just annoying

Is this app getting updated or disabled? Still has conflicts with the Active Armor App. Keep getting a failure to upload a feature that is already set for unknown callers to voicemail. Last update February? ARE YOU KIDDING? No one called me back from CARE. Not the AT&T service I would expect.

doesn't really do a great job at blocking very many calls despite knowing which calls are spam calls. then asks you to purchase the app for greater protection, which shouldn't exist anyway. it feels like having this increases spam call targeting and then asks to pay to remove the thing that it's not preventing.I've had it on 2 phones because it's a default bloat app and I have had roughly 2000+ spam calls in the last few years with this app maybe blocking 10, maybe 20 of them? very frustrating

It's a good idea, just a few improvements. I had it set to send unknown numbers, spam, fraud, etc. to voice-mail, however, it was sending EVERY call to voice-mail, including the ones I had in my contacts. Missed many important calls...

It's a great service and app to use to help you automatically avoid the irritating epidemic of spam calls/robo-calls/telemarketers. Also gives you the power to be proactive very easily in pitching in to help everyone else have the power to effortlessly avoid the time consuming and irritating everyday nonsense calls. It's one of the very few percs to having ridiculously expensive AT&T premium services.

Good addition to the At&T Security App glad it came with the app when I purchased it. It's a great little caller ID and automatically blocks all spam calls for you. The app does leave me wanting more options to mess with Just stuff to tinker with in the app settings maybe just a thought.

I have people who are in my contact list with my same area code and pre-fix bring screened as a spam call and sent to voicemail, my phone won't even ring with they call. But then I have someone who isn't in my contacts out of state my phone rings, and they are calling me about my car extended warranty. It's not constantly happen a lot of times daily, but it is often enough to wear it's just stupid.

This has helped slow down the unwanted calls. I get so many calls from non profit... firefighters and police groups mostly (which I think are ALL scams) so I block and try to report. I say try because when the report screen comes up to explain the call, the keyboard doesn't show up so all my submissions are blank at the moment. In the end the calls are blocked even if poorly reported by me. If my report worked it would be 5 stars...

I used to get bombarded with calls all day that where of no consequence to me. the first 2 years didn't hear the phone ring with calls from unknown or spam callers and I would have given this a 5 star however, the past 6 months it seems the spamers have figured out how to get through again cause the non nonsense are calls ringing my phone again. not as many as before the app, but more each day. if this issue is cleared up and my phone goes back to silent I will give a 5 ⭐

I have had Call Protect Plus for a couple of months and so far it is working grate!! I have a Samsung Galaxy S10. Hardly any spam call come through and makes it a much quieter day ! The only problem is I don't like not having it put on my cell phone bill 😒 they want a credit card and I am not comfortable with that.

Does not stop the fraud/spam calls as much as anyone would like. Also since Android 12 was installed cannot type anything in the Report section as the keyboard is not appearing. Update as of 4/01/22: Still cannot type in fields about spam calls while many spam calls come thru with no spam alert at all. App is lacking...

Update> i still can't switch. Let me switch. Old> I am trying to get the Plus version but it keeps asking me to pay on an acc i don't want to use. I didn't even get the app with the email, why am i being asked. Let me switch email. Also doesn't prevent call forward spams
