I hope that this doesn't hurt the team responsible for this app, but this app is awful compared to my experience with AT&T voicemail on iPhone. At times I have received push notifications weeks late; at times the app doesn't show me voicemails that do exist. Visual voicemail works out of the box with iPhone, no garbage AT&T app necessary. Android supports this too, but instead AT&T chooses to force us to use this garbage app. AT&T, please integrate with Android OS the same way you do with iOS.
I have never been a fan of Visual vm. But I must live with it. Would be truly awesome if an incoming VM would appear almost immediately and not HOURS later. I have missed many important messages due to this issue. "Old school" VM for cellphones worked much better. Everyone I know who has ATT says the same thing. This includes ATT employees. What's so "visual" about this app? FIX IT!!!!
Visual voicemail is a feature that has to be included in your wireless plan. If it's not a part of your plan, it'll just sit on the loading page indefinitely. That IS what was happening to me originally. So i wrote a bad review, not knowing. It works pretty good now. My inbox popped in right away. Transcripts are blank currently though.
Loved it when it worked. Now it just shows one page that tells you what it does (what it's supposed to do) and nothing else. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times, same results, nothing. Several other apps out there so I'll be switching.
The app used to work very well but now it rarely notifies if I have a new voicemail. I end up having to go into the app and hitting refresh after I see I have a missed call. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.
Won't play over bluetooth headset. Just switched to a new phone. On the old phone i could hear all voice mails using the app thru my connected Bluetooth but that no longer works on the new phone. Disappointing
It worked fine for a few months and then it became sporadic or it wouldn't always show new messages and I'd have to refresh a lot then people said they couldn't hear my voice anymore and now it doesn't work at all. It looks like there's a message left but it just spins and spins and it never lets me open it. I don't have a voicemail anymore that works I just want my old voicemail app back
I feel like this App has gotten worse over time. Used to work great, but now it's not Capturing every Voicemail. Which you wouldn't know you had missed voicemails unless you went to your voicemail manually via dialing. Have had quite a few important Voicemails missed and left unheard in my inbox.
Next to useless, every time I play a voicemail my phone goes right to sleep. Which only happens if I engage it or try to use this app. Half the time I have to force restart the phone to get the screen back. It use to be way better butnnow it's kind of useless.
I've had issues with this app since getting my s10+ 3 years ago. It never transcribed anything and would rarely allow me to access it. I couldn't even download it from the play store because it said it wasn't compatible with my device. Here we are 3 years later with my S22 ultra and it's the SAME PROBLEM! No transcription. But not it also won't let me clear the magnates as listened to. This app is total garbage
Creates unbelievably bad transcripts. Never have I received a voicemail transcript that made any sense at all. It produces just gibberish and you're ending up listening to the voice mail to figure out what was really said.
The app doesn't work, it logs you out and then doesn't work anymore. The transcription worked one time. Now the app just doesn't at all.
I've spent over 4 hours trying to get this to work on a Pixel 6. Just spins and spins during setup. AT&T support had to reset my VM, this still didn't help. Regular VM works, just no VVM. As I have discovered that if you don't have an iPhone they could care less about your app experience. My Verizon phone (same phone) worked right out the box. Please integrate the native Android functionality or dump this app to the trash heap, because it's garbage.
Even 1 star is too many. New phone...no transcription to text. Interferes with AT&T default voicemail overriding outgoing message with one saying "acct no longer in use" with no option to leave message. Disable & uninstall doesn't stop interference. Might have to give up # I've had for 10+ years. 9 calls to AT&T Cust. Serv. over 3 months has been totally ineffective. I'm ready to quit AT&T in any/all form permanently!
Never used an app like this before. This is unique. The conversation from voice to typed words is not correct ever time, but it works to the idea of what was left by the caller.
It's not perfect by any means; voice transcription will occasionally make some very amusing mistakes, & its control of the proximity sensor is fickle to the point of being unreliable, on top of the app style being fairly rough. Luckily, the most essential functions, like browsing, listening to, & saving voicemails, as well as setting your own greetings, are easily managed. In short, it's a simple app that does the basics well. I say "luckily" because this is the only option that AT&T provides (3rd-party voicemail apps are never guaranteed to work flawlessly), & AT&T's apps are usually complete trash that only serve to bloat the phones they sell in store. I bought my phone online, so I had the option to choose which AT&T apps I wanted, so I installed the one that I can pay my bill with, & this one. So far, I have no regrets.
This app is terrible and it always has been. I often receive voicemails that the app shows as still loading. There aren't many options in the settings menu either. It would be nice to customize notifications. I get voicemails all the time and never receive a notification. Because AT&T is similar to a utility company, they have very few competitors and have no incentive to improve this app (sort of like the government).
The app is constantly sending text messages from my phone. Can't comment on the message functionality as I haven't gotten that far, but it also keeps the welcome message stuck to notifications every time I restart, even though that message is deleted. But the text messages being sent out all day (apparently to refresh the mailbox) is an issue. For the occasional voicemail I receive I'll just call.
This is a pretty bad app. It recently received an update, first one in a few years I think, but it was apparently cosmetic only. Still has issues. I have edited this review and took a star away because all of these problems persist and it's been so long. It really impacts the way I work. Sometimes it takes hours to get notified that there's a new message, even when I see the voice mail icon on. A manual refresh has to be done or voice mail messages do not get picked up and I never get my messages through the app. Also, it doesn't do a good job transcribing messages - often it seems as though there isn't even an attempt. I could live with this if only I didn't have to manually retrieve my messages by doing a refresh.
When I first downloaded this 2 years ago it worked fine. You would have to refresh the app to see new messages, you have to go back to the home screen to delete messages. Voice to text accuracy was mediocre. Playback volume is inconsistent. With each update it has worked less and less until now it can't play the message at all, most of the time it can't provide a transcript. It does not update when messages get deleted and will send notification for messages from months prior.
When this works well, it's pretty nice. Lately however, it often tells me my SIM card has changed (when it hasn't) and forces me to basically reset it. Then, it often refuses to let me set it up again right away. Edit: It seems to be getting worse. Now I no longer have to sign in constantly, but the app often freezes up when loading a voicemail.
Generally works, but clunky at best; surely this is not the best user experience ATT can offer? And it used to have a useful feature that allows saving of messages to local files - that feature recently vanished without explanation! Under key features the release notes, bullet 4 reads: "Share messages via email, text or to a cloud drive" - sadly, no such feature can be found.
