ATC Cree

The Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) online language app translates English into Cree. Designed to be easy to use for both beginners and those with some previous knowledge of the language, it can be used for self-study or as an aid in conversation with elders who are Cree speakers. It is suitable for use by beginners, youth, and those in mid-life looking for a refresher in a language they learned in their youth.
The app’s vocabulary includes important nouns, as well as words for medicines, numbers, directions, weather, the calendar, and parts of the body. The app focuses on Cree dialects of northeastern Alberta. It also includes an overview of the Athabasca Tribal Council, as well as maps and satellite images showing the locations of its five member First Nations in North Eastern Alberta. The app is part of ATC’s commitment to teaching and preserving the indigenous languages of northeastern Alberta.

It's just a small dictionary of words. While it is a useful app to help brush up on a few words what I would like to see is a more comprehensive app that actually teaches proper sentence structure, and grammar. I hope indiginous American languages start becoming popular enough that we start seeing a few on more popular language learning apps.

No sound for android when you go to hear the word 😔 I've been watching YouTube lessons so I know how to pronounce some words already but it won't play on this app

Its a awesome app but my kookum who is old Cree fluent said there is one word that ain't right "HOME" that Cree for it is for "TOWN" and you guys should have the whole PRAYER in this app i know many people would want to learn it...and add more Cree words like for animals, the land, weather, etc..

I have a question. Will there be an update that includes grammar rules? This is a really cool resource, but as a person who currently only speaks English it would be great to learn how to speak the language fluently as opposed to indiviual words/small phrases.

Love being able to hear the words too - not just see them! I had to make sure my media volume was on too - not just device volume to hear it! Thank you for this app!
