Summoning the Gatekeeper doesn't work (just a black screen with spooky music.) Only quick start works. I recommend doing a full download if you can, cause the servers are terrible and there's nothing worse than getting everyone gathered around the table for a big fat error message. I had started at 3 stars but writing this has made me realise the game is horribly broken. Release a PC version or something that isn't so dependant on the internet, guys... Even the VHS version is more reliable.

After some human error and a bit of intuition, the app does work and work well but some patience is required to get your head around it and how to join a game. The Gatekeeper is well-performed and the app itself works very well and is quite stable. A lot of fun once you know the rules! The randomisation of the clips from the Gatekeeper does mean a bit of repetition is a possibility but if you're OK with that you're in for a very fun time.

This boardgame isn't cheap and literally relies on the app to be able to play it. The app doesn't work properly. The gatekeeper appears but no sound comes out of his mouth. The fact that you have to cast from your phone to the TV means there is a lag and a buggy screen. Thought it was going to be a blast from the past but it was horrendous. So so so dissapointed. Please fix it.

Nice to see Atmosfear back, although I'd have preferred an actual actor to play the Gatekeeper. An option that would be nice: the possibility to set the volume of the music, SFX and voice. 10 mins before the end of the game, the music stopped completely (probably a bug), but I found it quite immersive. Having said that, the music was generally a bit too... epic, while the game had barely started. It would be nice if the music got louder and more stressful in a progressive way. Now, I encountered a few bugs: - There was still about 4 mins left, however the Gatekeeper appeared to tell me there was only... 1 minute left. He then appeared again to tell us we lost the game, but the countdown still continued! - As the Gatekeeper wrongly claimed his victory, since there was still some time left, he appeared next to choose the Chosen one, just like at the very beginning of the game, and then told us to start playing. - And when finally the counter reached zero, the game left us with a black screen. The button to win the game was still on-screen, but the app never looped back to the main menu. - Also, the game seems to start every time with a completely different countdown: sometimes we have 53:20, sometimes more, sometimes less... I understand the app just launched and it's expected to find bugs, so I thought I'd list what I found on here :) Oh and also, you cannot find the app if you search for it on the Play store. The only way to get it is to search for Hijinx, then check the list of all their games.

Unusable. Server constantly malfunctions. Kicks players, disconnects, won't load. This shouldn't be a product. It's shameful. Also what little of the voice acting I got to see was identical to the script used in the dvd one. So it's not even all original content. Could be a huge licence putting out great games and expansions. Instead it's a disappointment. Get in touch with me if you want to make a real interactive game!

Love the old games, but this one is terribly buggy: Super slow to load. Sometimes the gatekeeper comes on screen but does not talk. The game disconnects randomly. Offline mode appears to spend ages downloading but does nothing. No button to cast the screen, so you have to screen mirror on Android. All this through the first game... Right now, it is unplayable. This honestly isn't good enough for a board game that does not function without the app. Can't recommend until it's fixed.

Unfortunately there is a massive lag when mirroring the Android Phone to the TV via Google Chromecast, the gatekeeper mouth moves out of sync with the audio and the picture is very jumpy and jittery. My internet is 100mbps board and with the phone and TV within metres of the wifi modem, which can run 10+ streaming devices at once without any issues, so it is something wrong with the app or app streaming. The game also froze on the TV at about the last 10 minute mark, but the phone kept playing?

This was frighteningly fun. The only issues we had was the Gatekeeper freezing toward the end, the timer counting to zero but the game still playing and the atmospheric music cutting out around 6 minutes from the end. Having subtitles and the ability to cast to a device instead of having to mirror would be great. Thank you my Gatekeeper!

Thank you for fixing the repeating scenes! However there is another problem, the timer at the start of the game. Is it supposed to be random? What time is the game supposed to start from? More interactivity, bring back the interactive sequences from the DVD games where you could choose keys/doors/etc from the screen! Overall I am happy Gateboi is back but improvements need to be made.

Not like nightmare at all. App runs like trash, doesn't even have a cast button so you literally have to have a mirroring app to play it on your tv? Barely Randomised, or in the two times played we just "happened" to get all the same prompts from the gate keeper. Honestly for the quality of the app and the price of the board.. wish i could get a refund for the time spent playing.

Needs a real actor! CGI is terrible, such a downgrade from the DVD version. The time started at 39 minutes instead of the hour. My friends also downloaded the app to play along but were unable to connect to the game. Wish there was new content as well instead of the same gameplay as the original.

Stop! Who's turn is it? Answer me! No one's, because the app is broken. You'll be lucky to get the two minute mark before the timer crashes and the game stops. The gatekeeper is a cheap CG model with a less than interesting performance from the voice actor. Seriously he's sounds like a hungover European. Will be returning the board game, will probably get an old dvd copy of the game instead!

Literally the worst app I have come across. I don't even know how they are allowed to sell this rubbish. Takes forever to load. I am not joking when I say my old dial up connection was faster than this app loading. Even hitting 'quick Start' didn't do anything. We got to 3% loading after choosing characters and gave up because it took so long. Other players couldn't connect. Just kept getting error. Honestly, don't waste your time and money. Choose another game.

Yall might as well just drop the whole game as a app. And just use your phone to interact with it like the jack in the box series with multiple random situations from the gatekeeper so no game is the same. I swear I would buy it no matter how much it is! I love atmosfear. People actually ran out of my house because the game was scary. This app freezes too much.

Took forever to load after choosing players, the clock starts at 38 mins instead of 60mins. Multiple server errors and freezing using Chromecast, tried on both Apple and Android devices, was not able to play at all. Very disappointing

Amazing. But the following is the instructions that should be on the web site or in the app. Make sure all users on the network have closed the app before trying to start a new game, we had to force close all instances of the game, all the players waited in queue and we started the host device last, works every time. If someone starts a game, even if their phone is slept, noone else will be able to host until it's closed.

Game looks great, but we had it all set up and halfway through the game it crashed. We were unable to get back to the game. It happened again after restarting another game. Please, fix server problem. I'm looking forward to play the game.

A bit wonky learning in the beginning but overall fun! A hint for those who wanna give it another go, try letting the game run a bit and see if it smooths out. Such promise in a game and I hope to see more done to immortalize this unique experience.

It's pretty fun make sure to play in offline mode of you're having trouble with people disconnecting. Only trouble i thought was the games sometimes feels a little rushed. Hopefully they bring out some more updates to the app maybe some good scares. 👍

I remember having this game on VHS as a kid and LOVED it. Now however the app doesn't let other players join the game so how are you supposed to play? Also there's nothing on the box to say if you don't have a way to mirror the app to your TV you can't use it. I think this would be great if the issues were fixed (which you would think would have been done before released)

This app is literal garbage. It's a massive pain to set up, crashed mid way through playing ruining our game, none of us could connect out phones and the gatekeeper somehow looks worse than the DVD version. Also you're supposed to have a chromecast to play this game even though it doesn't say that anywhere on the box?? I'm not mad I'm just disappointed. If you're somehow reading this before buying don't waste your money.

DO NOT BUY! I wish i had known it was purely App based & read the reviews. Opened this game today, to show my sons a game that me and my friends loved as kids. That was 45 mins ago and I'm already writing a review of how terrible this is. Continual server errors, continually out of sync. Loss of audio. God forbid your device does anything while game is playing or guess what - Server error. The original game was amazing its quite pathetic that this is it now. No help coming it seems also.

Extremely slow, buggy, lag, disconnect/connect issues. If the app doesn't work you can't play the game. Oh did I mention it's slow? Loading takes forever!

The update came in. For the very first time, a Nightmare/Atmosfear game has subtitles. I couldn't be more excited. Time to head off the the Deaf Club for some fun!!! To those saying it is not working, make sure your specs meet the minimum. "Android: OS 6 to 10: ARMv7 CPU with NEON support or Atom CPU; OpenGL ES 2.0 or later; 2GB RAM or more. " -Atmosfear website

Crashes constantly, unplayable. Tried to play multiple times, always crashes and closes halfway through.

Kept disconnecting players, when reloaded it still kicked players out. The board game is going in the trash, and the app deleted. By the way, I'd have given no stars if that was an option, so consider the one star as charity.

The timer started at 30 minutes, we only got half the time to try and play. Pretty disappointing as I really like the game, but the app needs serious work!
