So far I'm extremely pleased with this app. It's intuitive, easy to use, lots of titles and the portability is awesome! Especially across multiple devices. I'm reading "The Henna Artist" and the reader's voice with the character inflections and emotions is better than trying to scramble through a read when spare time is so fleeting and I can just as easily enjoy the story while gardening or driving or anything else for that matter. I highly recommend it!
The audiobook selection is fine, but the app is so annoying. When I put it on with the sleep timer, it turns off fine, but when I snooze my alarm from my phone's lock screen, it turns on the book again (which is scary at 5:45). And even if I close the app, whatever book I'm listening to stays in my active notifications, and I have to restart my phone to get rid of it. And the interface is weird, just not natural or intuitive
Subpar performance and assistance. My book download kept glitching (pausing every few seconds) after I'd listened over 10 mins or so. I asked customer service for help, and their suggestions didn't make any difference/the app didn't perform in the way it was supposed to through their instructions process. Additionally, it is very easy to accidentally press 'buttons' you're not intending to. It frequently took me to different screens. I used a free trial and won't be continuing my membership.
Have just installed and half way through first book. Everything seems to run fine, found the interface for book selection simple enough to navigate, a bit of a search when I wanted to go back to what I was listening to on my tablet then on my phone but the app remembered my spot in the book. I am still winging a bit at the $20.00 USD a month fee but if I find it worth while then I will continue.
I like the app layout and ease of finding the books that I like, however I find that in my situation I can't finish a book in a month and I wish there was a selective process for the amount of time the subscription can renew ( like a plan, not constant auto renew) I find for the price to purchase each book ( close to 30$ for some) it's not worth it for me. That being said there is a lot of free content and if you take the time to browse you can really stumble upon many good selections!
I signed up because they have this trial going on right now where you get 3free credits with a subscription, that is normally about 15$ a month. I honestly thought I would cancel after the free trial because I have audible, but I'm loving this app so much I'm going to cancel the other. They have so many options to choose from, and even a large catalog of free options that you don't have to use your credits on. They have podcasts, magazines, even ones to help meditation and sleep! Amazing
I signed up for this app because they had a few audiobooks that I couldn't get through my library's system, and I was very impressed with the service. I listened to The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid and I really loved some of the listening and playback features like speeding up the audio, as well as the fact that if I exit the app my place in the audiobook is saved. I also like the ability to leave little notes along with my bookmarks.
I like this. I got the free trial because it had a brand new book I wanted. Listening experience was great. You can adjust the speed and I loved the reader of the book (which was Lessons in Chemistry). I also really like the club concept, and the VIP reads concept. I'm interested to see what books are available when the VIP reads changeover next month.
After some research comparing multiple services like audible, chirp, etc., I decided to try the audiobooks app for my audiobook needs. Initially, the interface was confusing - I was looking for the credits I had available and it took a few tries to get to that information. Subsequently, using the app for browsing and downloading books was a snap. I got two of Patrick Lee's books - the brilliant "Deep Sky", which is the third and final installment in the Travis Chase series, followed by "Runner".
This is my second audio book ap. After four hours of listening, a reoccurring glitch kept resurfacing on my first downloaded book (The Guardians). The book stopped playing on three separate occasions which was rectified by having to restart the ap. A bit frustrating, especially when driving cross country (thank goodness for passengers to get the book up and going). Hoping that this is an isolated issue, otherwise looks like this ap will be short lived on my devices.
I am really enjoying this app. I have been listening to, not finished yet, Little Broken Things by Nicole Baart, I chose this book because I watched the series Big Little Lies which was based on the book by the same author. When I signed up, I got 3 free credits for 3 books. I would definitely reccommend this app to friends. I have had no issues or glitches while using it thus far.
The app is easy to use and straightforward. They have a large catalog although there are a few titles I would love to see added. The unlimited audiobook clubs seem like a great deal but have limited selection. Overall it's a good app for someone that wants to experiment with listening to audiobooks.
I've been using audible for years but they recently changed some of their pay and sale options which didnt make me happy so I thought I would look for an alternative. I am currently listening to Joanne flukes strawberry shortcake. I went over the app and I love the way books are laid out in order and the clubs that u offer. It makes it easy to find what you are looking for. The price for 2 credits is better too.
Probably should have gone with Amazon, not got the range and not sure if I get to keep books. Give you free books but they are not that good and time limit a lot of things. I went with them as I thought they would be as good and helps keep some choice in the market... App is pretty clunky and slow even though everything is downloaded
Great audio book app, I found this app by chance when searching for specific audio books and it came up, I'm really pleased with it so far and think you get alot of content and all the additional downloads with the books. It's easy to set up and use and has great audio books available too. Would recommend. Thank you!
not every title by the author is included in the results of an author search. You must search for a title individually. I don't like that some titles in a series are listed under more than one genre. Example: books 1,4&6 are listed in mystery but books 2,3&5 are listed in fantasy. Edit4/15/22 app is worse than before. Often stops playing and buffers and won't start if I click my headphones. If I click a book series the page stays white and never loads. This is why I will not subscribe.
Only had it for a week. It seems good so far. First time using audio books in general. It is a very efficient way to learn while on the move driving. While using the app on phone and lap top it seems to have good functions. Although when using it in the car through android audio there is no function available to rewind the talking 30 seconds like in the app on phone and lap top. I don't know if this is an android audio issue or an Audio Books issue though it is a bit annoying if you happen to miss a bit while focusing on the road as you can't rewind.
