Been using the app. I use it for traffic, or when I am doing house work. The app will stop and skip when the screen is in lock mode, which is new. I tried going through the search to find titles, but when I go back it starts from the beginning again. Example: scrolling through pages of titles, seeing one that I might like on page 4, then trying to go back to the search list, and now I'm back on page 1. The credit system isn't so bad, but I can definitely see how that would get annoying.
The android app makes searching for a book overly frustrating. First the app is slow to respond when clicking on the sort option or filter. Once you select a sort option, you can't get the reverse of what you selected. Also, when you try to go back after viewing a book, you are brought back to the subject page on the discover tab, losing your spot in the filtered list and having to start over. I'm sure the team that is responsible for the app know this and have mentioned to higher ups. Fix it!
I'd like to start by saying I love audibles service. But they somehow make their app worse with every update. It's nearly impossible to browse for a new book these days. They made it so if you can even find the browse option and add the filters you then can scroll through and click on a book to read summary details. But as soon as you back out of that screen and let's say your on page 6 looking for a book. You get reset back to having to select browse and add back in your filters.
I've been using the app for years and the books are great. However, the app has a few issues that would be expected to function as basic operations of an audio player, on the latest Android version. E.g. the app doesn't show in the pull down shade even while it's being used. Irritating when simply trying to return to the app while it's actually playing. Also doesn't play when calling the app from Google Assistant. Will launch the app & wait, or even play anything from a different app in memory.
Would be 5 ⭐ as have had no real problems over years of using this app and genuinely like the service but the recent change of not being able to purchase in the app is incredibly frustrating. The point of the apps for me is the ease and speed of having everything together and not having to flip between the app and various web pages just to find and buy the book you want. It's off putting and stops all the impulse purchases I used to make which is good for me but terrible for them as a business.
Used to love this app. I've used it for years for my whole family and purchased many extra books, outside of my audio credit. Now they are forcing you to purchase 3 credits, instead of giving you the option to buy one individual book (outside of my monthly credit.) This resulted in me finding a new app instead of buying more from them. Not cool.
App continuously stops playback and often crashes. The audio will play normal for a time then start pausing the book every 15-20 seconds. Causing me to have to close the app and reopen it. This wouldn't be a big issue if it were occasional but this happens constantly throughout the day. I feel like I'm spending more time opening and closing audible than I am listening and enjoying the books I paid for.
Used to love this app - great selection of titles and easy to use. Unfortunately it has become more and more annoying to use. Can't read the book description unless I'm online, no longer stops playback when I disconnect earbuds (goes to speaker instead) and now has added "go back to beginning of chapter" to the mini player in the navigation bar right where "go back 30 seconds" used to be. Hate these updates and will look for an alternative
I have been using Audible for years and these new updates are very disappointing. It is hard to cancel your subscription. Putting on hold easy but to completely cancel is hard. The fact I can not purchase a book but have to by credits really angers me. I like getting the credit every month but I also like the idea of buying a book if I want it. The amount they charge for credits is more than what I would pay for the books.
Used to be the best app before the change. USERS DO NOT BUY MORE CREDITS IN APP. Go to the audible site and it's still 35.88 plus tax. In app it's 39.99. I knows it's a small difference but I've listened to 150 of titles in the last 2 years so those extra credits add up. The change to Google play has been the worst thing for their user experience ever and I really don't know how they justify the change. I'm going to have to find an alternative soon. So disappointing.
The app works as expected as long as you press play and don't do anything else. Browsing is a nightmare, any action on a title resets your browsing context. If you're trying to do something like add a series to your library you have to search for each book individually and add it. Additionally the UI does everything possible to direct you towards books you have to pay for and hide the ones that are included in your membership.
My app is up to date. The widget for controlling the player when my phone is locked is wonky. The button that you push for play and pause, it's suddenly smaller than it used to be. Not physically, but the sensing area. I can see the phone light up where I push the button, but unless I hit it exactly in the center, it doesn't work. ETA: now if I turn off a speaker that my phone was connected to, my phone will suddenly start playing it on the phone speaker. Don't like.
Good app. I like how if you use on another device it picks up where you left off. I don't like how it only works with like half the headphones or speakers I have. Sometimes it works flawless others it seems like it's buffering or something even if the book is downloaded. This doesn't happen with any of my other audiobook applications
I've been using Audible for years now, and I've always loved it. So it's as a loyal and consistent user that I say: this latest major update to the library is TERRIBLE. Setting aside how annoying it is to now have to manage each part of a book, just the sorting system has become totally unusable. Why can we no longer view just our Unfinished titles, or Search for items in our Library? The idea of giving more options for sorting is good, but not well executed. Bad bad bad.
Greedy scam. The subscription is extremely expensive and your credits expire after a short time. Ive lost 2 credits ($36) that expired and i was forced to waste many more on audiobooks i will never read, because i had to spend the credits before they expired (>$75). You can not refund books after a cetain amount of time passes. Just get a library card, they should have plenty of free audiobooks available. One audiable credit costs the same as three hardcover books.
Loved audible for years, but my biggest problem right now is when I'm looking for a new book, there is no option to buy, only use a credit or add to wish list. It's irritating because I'd rather not use a credit that costs me roughly $15 each to purchase a book that might only be worth $5. I'd rather spend and extra $5 to get that title and spend my credit on something over or around $15 and protect my investments.
I love audible and the huge range they have especially the free collection. Only reason to star down on the ease of use is I find it frustrating when using the search library pages that if you set several filters, click on a result and then wish to go back to the search results, it resets all the filters so you have to do it again.
I love this app, I really do. I would have rated it higher but why can I no longer find books which my favourite narrators have read!? You used to be able to click on the name of the narrator and taken straight to a list of other books they've read - I noticed you can still do this on the website! BRING IT BACK TO APP PLEASE. I'm visually impaired so the Invention of audiobooks mean everything! The audible app is morw accessib than the website.
Beautiful app that proposes a lot of famous books (all the ones I searched for). Perfect before sleeping. The only negative point : the price of the audiobooks which are really expensive, but I don't think we can find cheaper ones with the same quality as on audible.
