I love the idea of this app. I love supporting local bookstores for my audiobook purchases rather than a giant corporation. However, I can't in good conscience recommended this app at the moment, because it constantly loses my place. I try to memorize or bookmark the last place I left off but when I'm busy I don't always have the chance to. Please fix this!
much better than audible, I love being able to support local bookstores. very easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. the discounts on the website are super useful, and I really enjoy seeing the new stuff they have available
App is top difficult to use. No discernable way to browse their catalog and when going to the local book stores site it only shows physical copies for sale. Search fucntion only searches my empty library. I'm not going to pay for a subscription if I can't tell if you have a selection of books worth paying for. Deleted the app.
I opted for the monthly payments. I found it very reasonable for audio books. I really like that a local independent book store also gets part of the payment. Supporting independent book stores is important to me.
Love that I can support local bookstores. Hate that the search function in the app is completely broken, just loads a blank screen, and there is no way to buy books in the app, have to go to the website on a computer... Weird. Would think you want me to buy things? Why not make it work in the app?
Listening experience is fine. Inability to search Libro.fm catalog list of audiobooks (in Android app) or buy using credits in app makes it less useful. Hope these features are introduced soon.
Solid UI and playback. Only wish it was easier to purchase e-books in the app or to change my bookstore.
Great way to support local vookstores! They have everything just like the larger brands but I feel better knowing I am making a difference.
If this is going to be presented as an alternative to audible it needs to have an app at least comparable to audible (if not better, one would think). You cannot purchase books in the app. Like, that alone is ridiculous. I'm looking at the same three books I bought and knowing if I want more I have to get on my computer and find more on the website (which again my understanding is, is not as robust as audible). Anyway, maybe it'll get better but right now I'm disappointed.
Easy to use and supports local book stores! Same general idea as other services with the tokens. So its easy to use. The only thing I would like is to be able to buy books through the app. Especially at moments like now when I can't get the website to work for some reason, so I only have about an hour left on my current book and need the next one but I can't buy it T.T Also it just makes it more convenient. I k ow y'all want to keep it more minimal, but I personally would love it.
Overall, the Libro app is smooth and functional. I have two minor complaints, but they aren't big enough to send me back to Audible. One, sometimes the app will forget where I stopped if I change Bluetooth devices. Not a biggie, just a little a annoying when it happens. And two, you can't buy through the app. You have to go to the website. Again, minor annoyance. All in all, decent listening app for Libro (which is amazing and should receive 10 stars as a service/product).
Libro is a fantastic audiobook app. I was seeking an alternative to Audible and Libro showed up as number one in a few lists so I decided to try it out. Like 5 months later and it's great! I only wish you could use the store in the app. The website is perfectly fine to use too though so no real problem, just a hopeful improvement I'd like to see! As far as the player goes, it's got everything you'd need. Bookmarks, speed control, library search and sorting, etc. Really solid media player.
I absolutely love this service as an alternative to audible. HOWEVER I absolutely hate the app. If I happen to pause my book, and go to a different app and dink around on there for a little bit, the place that I paused at gets reset to an earlier place. This happens at LEAST, once daily, typically multiple times though. To combat this, I've taken to putting a bookmark where I am, then going to another app. I've also noticed that sometimes my bookmarks just disappear. Please fix this player.
Fantastic app, fantastic service! It would be great if you could browse the libro audiobook catalogue through the app, rather than having to go through the site (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but as I understand it, that is something they're working on integrating in the future. Otherwise, no complaints!
I love supporting independent book stores, and have found and enjoyed every audio book I've wanted using Libro.fm
The app works fine & is easy to use. I like that it allows you to customize the repeat and skip amount. The dealbreaker for me, though, is that the repeat, when activated through the button on my earbuds, goes all the way back to the start of the chapter, not 15 seconds or whatever the setting may be. So, I lose my place all the time & have to stop what I'm doing, pull my phone out & find my place again. 2 stars b/c of that. 5 stars when it's fixed.
Definitely my preferred Android audiobook app. I have my monthly membership and each additional discounted purchase tied to the local bookstore of my choice (which definitely needs support right now) rather than Amazon. My first request is to be able to browse the store in the app. But over the last few months, there have been many "accidental" rewinds: upon opening a book, I'll find that the app has skipped it back a few chapters. (Still valid with 6.1.3).
