Australia Breaking News & Local News For Free

Good. Can be better with more up to date news. Not actually breaking news. It still provides a good read.

I have tried several need apps & never seen a news app with SO MANY ADS. it's insane. Its articles list is just as much an ad list, with paid advertisements listed in the same format as the article headlines sitting between between every real article header on the list. I guess if there was a way the advertising could be presented in a way that didn't integrate it so much into the articles list, ie if they could be in a box on the bottom or the top, rather than between reach item in the list.

It's an interesting experience to play with this app, particularly with the ability to debate. It's a platform which attracts many conspiracy theorists, so be prepared to be extremely frustrated. Frustration also comes from the ability of anyone can have your comments deleted, if it is not of there liking, so the ability to have good debate is limited. The managers have made it quite clear that they are sympathetic to the Russian cause in Ukraine. So, I'm probably done with this platform.

Seems ok. However display is not yet optimized for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Pro tablet. Smartphone only? Video views not work unless the YouTube app is used. There preferred YouTube viewer is the 1dm web browser.

Clean design and high resolution images with good national and domestic coverage but local breaking news stories to the town level are not always published or distributed quickly enough even with notifications turned on and the designated 'local' tab refreshed. When opening full length articles there is always a annoying, animated banner add locked to the bottom of the page hovering just above the comments section too. it's best to open articles with a browser that's running an add blocker.

I tried this, the breaking news is actually pretty old by the time it reached the app, but the worst feature is the number of ads and the difficulty of getting passed them. I expected some ads, but the repetition and intrusiveness was just too much.

G ood content but too difficult on eyes. I have a drark wallpaper on my mobile phone. The background of breaking news widget is not completely white and allows wallpaper background to affect breaking news widget background. So unfortunately it is too difficult and annoying to read the bresking news. There seems to be no setting to fix this. I like the nrews content, but it is nearly imposdible for me to read the content. Hope they can fix this simple but serious prob lem I have.

Just too many ads, they are embedded everywhere. In the pages you link to naturally, but before that, all through the apps feed. Makes for a messy, hard to follow system. Needs refining & attention to the reader experience.

I just uninstalled the app...way too many adds . I got annoyed at adds popping up after you open a story. Once you can understand but trying to see the same story 5 or 6 times and adds keep closing the story. Great idea poorly executed.

As a lot of other people have said the amount of ads on this app is insane. Ads continually flashing at top and bottom of screen. I have deleted app. Stay away if ads annoy you. As this app will drive you crazy.

Was introduced to this app via facebook advertising describing it as a convenient way to see local news yet when looking in the local tab section there is no news 😂 Not only that all the news in other tabs are origin of another country or state rarely was there any news even quite relevant to my area hence this rating 👎thanks for nothing have a nice day

I've used this app for a few months and while I will grant that the Devs don't seem to be bad people, I do think they are not qualified for such an app in Australia. There are many little issues I have but they can all be put down to maximizing income so Il leave that out of this review. The primary issue I have is being notified of breaking news that turns out to be not "news" but propaganda *Edit 1 to 3 🌟 for dev caring. Knowing what is news and what is a hit piece. Requires human editor

love to be able to keep up with the news on my phone keeps me in touch with what is happening in the world around us

I am Enjoying this app ,it's just that after following 6 people,I couldn't follow again ,and also I don't know how to increase the reputation

Many of the news articles go to particular newspaper pages & you can't read them as a subscription is required. This is not very satisfactory as the reason for downloading the app was to get local news & you still can't access it.

I quite like this news app for the specific reasons of its succinct nature. I don't want to have columns and paragraphs upon paragraphs of information and media opinion. As it is there is a grave danger of bias and MSM influence for which to be on guard. So I gave it four stars.

As with most previous reviews I found the ads intrusive but understand the need for them. The rest of the app is great so I paid for the upgrade. It's expensive but if it remains a 'lifetime' subscription I can justify the cost. However there are glitches. Past comments I've made sometimes disappear, I cannot read comment threads to gauge other people's opinions. I hope this gets fixed

I really liked the layout and the setup of the app, very informative, would be an amazing app if you guys didn't allow comments because there is no way to filter out racist scumbags, within not even 5 minutes I saw about 6 comments that were just gross with bigotry, I'm installing this app purely because of that, hope you guys have a wonderful day

I am sure the stories must be good but on my phone they have so many pop up ads that it is impossible to read anything properly so I have uninstalled. Often I can only read 1 or 2 lines of news. Disappointed!

No breaking news in notification well it says breaking news but the news which are more important and should be in my notification are not there you have to open the app and search for it at the end for example the Victoria lockdown extention news, India and China disputes news they are important but I don't get any notifications regarding them at all

Shows things I have no interest in. Won't remove offensive things Like false news. Aka NBC, CNN, MSBN, ECT.

wont show local news in my area. Wollongong. Could be there isn't much news? The rest is great. Wouldn't mind some updates about the mines and local councils cleaning out the creeks and water courses which I think they have done a pretty good job of starting, also could update us with the jetty rebuilds etc instead of so much covid.

I am going to Australia next month and this app has been great for me. When I travel it's helpful to know what's going on wherever one goes. Not buggy, lots of stories and reasonable ads
