AutoMate - Car Dashboard

Ive been using this app for sometime now. It works very well and helps me focus on driving rather than reading a screen. One thing, though. There is an option for a floating widget when the app is in the background. This stops working after a day or so, and only rebooting the phone brings it back. The same thing happens with the "keep screen on" optiin. It just stops working. Im on a Galaxy S8 running Android 8.0.0

The app it's self is great with many awesome features, however there are some bugs that need addressing. When the charger "disconnects" or the power turns off the app doesn't seem to recognize it some times which causes the screen to remain on and the music to continue playing. The reverse is true for when the charger connects or power is present therefore settings like start or launch at charger connects do not function. Also, in the navigation the icon that represents the vehicle always moves to the middle of the screen when traveling at highway speeds. If that icon could stay in the bottom of the screen that would be most helpful

I like the app. I have a Pixel 3 and my old car dock wasn't showing inbound and outbound calls in progress. Seems to be a bug with the Car Mode. This seems to be a good alternative. One thing though, I seem to be getting a force close message for the Pixel launcher when using this car dock. Not sure why.

I have tried many "drive mode" type of applications and even after deleting this one, I have ultimately returned and will keep this one. It is a smooth and easy user interface and has all of the features I wanted on my car application. The only thing I wish could be added is the full Google maps be integrated into AutoMate but it is not a huge deal and still a fantastic app!

Just what I needed!!! Integrates with G maps, Spotify and has premium features to download also. So impressed. Only one issue is that the built in maps is so slow and u reliable opposed to Gmaps itself. Please fix the issue as the arrow in the maps is laggy and so slow!!! Even the route of the roads are not coloured safely and properly. Other then that it's epic! Using it on my tablet

Don't waste your bandwidth, never mind your money on the premium features. Not very easy to use but the biggest problem is that the interface to google maps just doesn't work. Even if you manually switch to google maps, it randomly flips back to its' own useless mapping app. When you try to report this as a bug then all you receive is an email asking you to register with some service with your email account (even though they already have your email) to get a response why??? No support otherwise...

Would love to love this app, but it fails at the one thing I want to keep from Android Auto, the use of Google maps. It says it should let me do that in the options, but it still defaults to the Automate maps, and when I click Google maps, it bring me to the default Google maps, not the car version like Android Auto. I wish there was a way to fix this, otherwise just gonna have to stick with Android Auto.

I love this app. It is very well designed easy to customise with favourite apps. It would be my preferred app to use in the car if only it worked with Google maps it crashes unless you start Google maps first and does not work together in the app. The inbuilt route and map function is not very good as it does not show you a route or alternate choices of route.

I think the most used part of this app is the navigation. Which doesn't work, tried all the options and nope just crashes or doesn't move. I had even paid for premium and most those functions are useless if the navigation doesn't work. Also the calendar sync only shows one upcoming event at a time - which isn't even the next event I have saved. Disappointing as I can see this app being potentially amazing. It's just too poorly executed.

So far so good.. I love how it automatically starts up as soon it detects my cars bluetooth, even though the phone was locked. It even closes up, once my phone disconnects the car. I haven't purchased the additional features yet. If I were it would only be the one for start up. Turning the phone's speaker volume up would be great...

I downloaded this as an alternative to Android Auto which I dislike, and to compare against DriveMode which was my favorite to-date, albeit, with some drawbacks. First off,I really like the design and layout of AutoMate. It's simple, clean, and intuitive. I don't care for it's integrated navigation feature however. I didn't use it much, but see countless negative reviews describing how buggy it is. The main reason for the 2-star rating however was because this app doesn't integrate with the Verizon Messaging app for SMS/MMS. I tried every setting possible in Automate and in Verizon messaging, and it simply wouldn't give any notification of incoming texts, much less the option to respond hands-free. I disabled Verizon Messaging and tried the LG Messaging app that also came on my LG G6. That allowed notifications and hands-free responding, but I DISlike the LG app because of it's extremely bare bones interface and lack of customizable options. Either choose LG's app, or choose DriveMode. I'll choose DriveMode, even though I don't care for the interface much. Oh well...

I'm trying to like this app but it just feels far too 'shonky'. It never displays the correct road/street I am on alerts work kinda, announces speed cameras when you are right on top of them at best or not at all at worst. torque integration is very hit and miss, it never connects first time at best you need to enter and exit the screen twice for it to make the connection. the phone screen feels like it's there cos it was forgotten about until the last minute. I really would like to be more positive but it just frustrates me at every turn it seems. hopefully with more dev time it will improve to the point I can improve the rating. ** Update ** having just been out in my car and after disabling start and end on bluetooth connection in the app it still proceeded to open upon the start of my headunits bluetooth so had to uninstall to ensure it doesn't start unexpectedly

Has potential and looks good, but as mentioned by others, setting a custom map app (Google or Waze for example) doesn't do anything. I also paid for premium functionality (setting the app as my launcher) but it didn't work and heard nothing back from their customer support. Between that and the fact the app's not been updated for over a year, it looks like nobody's maintaining it anymore

A great concept and better than the other similar apps like Android Auto. I think apps should be integrated into this app 100%, like Waze. So you do not need to switch to the Waze app. I would also love an option to see your playlists on sound cloud. Please integrate Sound Cloud fully so you can scroll through your playlists without having to switch to the SoundCloud app. Same with Youtube. I think this is great and I'll certainly be using it frequently. thanks!

Boils down to just another launcher. A lot of what it achieves could be done with widgets, especially given it hands off to other apps, that don't have driving modes, rather than providing a driving friendly interface. What interface it does provide are normal size UI elements, so too small (I'd say dangerous) to use while driving. 2* because it's at least a stable, nice looking, and feature full application.

I want to like this app but it's currently a buggy mess in Android 12. Navigation crashes constantly, audio controls (i.e Spotify, etc) aren't functioning properly, if you set a preferred orientation your phone will lock that orientation even after closing the app, the app won't actually close when you select exit... I'm holding out hope that it gets updated soon but that's even thin since it was last updated Feb 2021 and there is no sign of life on their website either

I 💗 AutoMate without a doubt. I reset my phone to defaults and kept noticing something was missing or, rather felt very difficult everytime I was driving and using Google Maps. It took me 3 weeks without AutoMate and struggling to play my music…swap to messages...voice reply…swap back to Maps…it was difficult and dangerous even using my voice. that I had this AWESOME app before the reset.

I prefer this app over the Google auto app because it offers quite a few more features than the Google Auto app. Do I do have one grape oh, this app just doesn't seem to display Google Maps properly in the map section. I would prefer it display the actual Google Map rather than its own proprietary off the wall map. Because when it does this it misses a lot of features that Google Maps has to offer

Great app but has a majorly annoying bug. The street name and speed limit are horribly wrong. Driving along a straight road, the display keeps changing as if I have turned off the main roads into housing estates with a very low speed limit. Also despite selecting Waze as my default driving app, it insists on opening the Automate routing first and this causes clashes between Automate and Waze over use of the GPS.

This app works (almost) perfectly on my android head unit. The only thing I would request is an option to increase the size of the media buttons on the music screen, they are too small to hit the buttons accurately and safely while driving. Will give 5 stars if this is improved.

Do not recommend. The speedometer does not work, freezes. The map is slow to update,. intermittently unable to search. The speedometer slow to update. Speed cameras slow to update. The phone app cannot end calls without closing the app. Too many bugs for a paid app! In app purchase so no refund. Do not purchase premium! EDIT: I have contacted for a refund as suggested, but no reply. Submitted bug report too.

Far from being useful at this time in it's gestation cycle. No real voice usability, dynamic updates are horribly slow (maps, cams etc.). Gmap doesn't coexist reasonably, this could be a Google license/legal issue. If so, then don't try to toy with a feature you can't integrate, it makes you and your app look "goofy". I couldn't get many if it's features to work consistently. In my opinion, it's just not ready for Prime Time - EOL.

I like the app and find it very useful but I don't use it because I really don't like how this app try's to emulate the map nav app. I would prefer if pressing the map button just opens the map app of choice. The current way is very clunky of showing its own version of the map then opening the external map app (eg Waze) after searching a destination. If the developer changed this map clunkiness I would actually use this app instead of an alternative

This is an excellent app, works really well once you set it up. I especially like the motion detection actions, they are brilliant. My only issue is that I would like to be able to set the sat nav sound to output to the phone only, but still have bluetooth connected to the car for audio and phone calls. This would make it five star for me

Nice app, it's good however it's often that it will say I'm speeding however I'm not (so app thinks it's 30mph when it's actually national speed which is dangerous in itself). Also, after that, it I'm playing music, it doesn't auto unpause so I have to manually do it myself. Again, that can be dangerous. But nice layout and UI, quite handy however from the above issues, I can't really use it.
