This app is very helpful for communicating as a deaf person in the hearing world
I just sent you a email apparently you guys have some kind of issue with Google play what is happening here please fix asap I survive with this app without it im lost 😢
I was so excited when I learnt of this app. It works surprisingly well as a standalone. Unfortunately, the excitement didn't last long after trying to call a contact because the app keeps ending the conversation as soon as the callee answers my call (and visa versa). ☹️ This issue happens on various phone brands (HTC One M9, a mix of Samsung, and One Plus 6). Is this a known issue? I really look forward to getting this issue resolved.
So utterly inaccurate, this app is worse than useless. Even held only twelve inches from my face, it is inaccurate - and when I move it to six inches from my lips, improvement is so slight it is insignificant. How this is the "best live captions" app, I have no idea. And in case you're wondering, yes, I have a clear speaking voice. Underwhelmed and uninstalling.
Works fairly good; however, the so-called free is not very accurate at all. You get what you pay for/aka don't. I also use Google Docs which is far more accurate most of the time. Both apps required good enunciation and to speak very close to the mic which is not always possible in a group setting. I'm still happy Ava is available. Thanks!😄
I originally gave Ava 3 stars because I didnt have a great experience while trying it out. I have been using it for a while now and the transcribing feature has been really handy for me. I'm profoundly deaf and functional mute. I have used the app to communicate with hearing strangers in informal settings and it has been great.
Great app for us latened deaf. well worth the $30 pro monthly fee. Good costumer service. I like that Ava provides a professional app. In a bind with no wifi or data it can still be used (with less accuracy), which live trascribe cannot do. Great and easy group conversations set-up, which live transcibe lacks. However, I do prefer live transcribe for most day-to-day activities. App needs a little work in my opinion.....better interface and faster/more accuracy when translating. Thank you Ava!
I guess it really should be 4.5 stars because it still has some technical glishes. However, it's a great program. I went to get some personal business and used AVA to communicate, even the person I was dealing with was impressed when I used it without another user connected. He then down loaded it and connected to my phone. He was really impressed. A very cool product for those of us who are DEAF.
Short lived. Once you start paying for it they cant help you if there's any glitches or error. You cant contact anyone and actually speak to them over the phone on your time. They made it seem like it was my fault I didnt receive what I payed for. They didnt seem to interested in figuring out why or how which is strange for an app that asks for a review after every use. All they could say was "close out the screen " as if it were my first time using the app or a phone period...
It would be good if I could see what it shows on the app, but it so dark I can barely read it or find any button to start it. I honestly don't know if good app or not. If updates to see with brighter setting, I might be able to give a better rating after fixing the issue.
I would use the pay version but 90% of the time it never picks up the voice to transcribe . People have literally yelled in it and the screen stays blank even if connected on a high speed WiFi network . I have it on multiple devices. So o know it's not my phones or tablet mics . Please fix this
Only works sometimes. I'm hard of hearing, tried this app during my eyes dr's appointment and it was useless. It didn't work, maybe during 1 minute then stop. It goes offline even with my cellphone full services on. Very dissatisfied. The receptionist was less than 12" away from my cellphone she was speaking loud because I explained to her and still nothing.
Great app. Always room for improvement with something this complex, and I am getting good technical and features support. Ava works on my older phone that many other voice to text app would not support. It's getting me through a difficult time.
Sooooooo the voice recognition is good and accurate, but Everytime I try to start a conversation it will not connect to the other person and it ends the conversation immediatly. And according to the reviews, this is happening to everyone.
Used not to require account to use, and now it requires one? Hard pass, no longer "accessible" to deaf without account.
Work just 10% to communicate. Trying to cancel subscription without Apple ID, but no other way to contact Ava to cancel. So they are going to keep charging me, even not using it at all. Any suggestion please to cancel and avoid these charges easy way without Apple ID.
I find the app only has about 10% accuracy and the things it writes are nowhere close to what the person is saying. Someone was talking about their dog on a leash and the app wrote "pork burrito fart nugget". What?! It's good for a laugh, but not to use for actually understanding what people say. I really hope you're able to improve it, because it's an amazing idea.
Personally, I've really enjoyed this app! It is a helpful tool to communicate with no matter if you're hearing or deaf. Support is also very helpful and friendly and deserve a 5-star rating from me! ( I should also mention that I'm not a constant user of the app and am unaware of any problems that might have been occuring with the app)
Way too nosy with your personal information. The more you give them the more they can sell to the spammers and scammers. I'm using a subtitle app now that doesnt require you to give them your life story and all your personal information. Uninstalled By the way, I'm willing to buy an app that works well and doesn't demand to have all your info
Captions literally don't work. I've messed around with settings for 20m and tried reinstalling the app but it doesn't work. Meanwhile other voice to text apps on my phone work just fine -_- not cool Ava
I couldn't join a conversation, nor could I start one and have others join. When I tried to scan into someone's conversation, I was taken to the contacts tab, but I couldn't join anything. When people tried to join mine, the scan on their phone wouldn't accept the QR code. We also tried joining via name or username and when they accepted I still would only end up on the contacts page. I left a one start review because this is the only reason we need this app is for our deaf father.
Decent enough app 👌 But the monthly subscription price is a little steep. Totally understand paying for a service, the price just isn't for me. There are not enough applications for Deaf/Hoh people for Android so I wish you all success. Edit 12/31 To answer your question, developer : I'm not an occasional user (Deaf) so the monthly price isn't for me. It is too much for ME. Live Transcribe gets the job done just fine, better even. Clear as mud now? I gave you all credit but after that - 1 🌟
Disappointed. Spotty captions. Maddening user interface with lots of useless fluff. No way to exit the app, keeps running in circles using the back button.
Main issue : multilingual conversations not possible. I work in an environment where people shift from French to Dutch to English within the same conversation, from one sentence to another. The same person can use different languages within the conversation. Same with my family setting.
After reading the reviews, I am not even going to try this app. It's frustrating enough being deaf and trying to deal with communicating with impatient people. I may also add, it's very unattractive to state " your rating is unfair" or asking for a better rating. Real turn off. Besides thirty dollars? I shouldn't have to pay anything for the ability to communicate despite how hard your company works to provide closed captioning.
The app was fairly accurate, but there were long pauses with no captions, it would then start again in the middle of a sentence.
It works really well except for strong accents. It'd be nice if editing a word or statement could be easier.
We have been using this app for several years now on several Android phones as a solution for our deaf mother. It works quickly and picks up well in noisy places but not all that accurately but well enough to where she can figure out what's going on. The reason for 1 star is it constantly crashes . Even with a paid subscription it stops working and stops captioning. It tells us to not use the mic which is the whole point of using it. We have to close it and restart it. We have reinstalled too.
