But I would not recommend it unless you have lost your real remote. The reason I rate it low is because the actual play/pause/etc menu is tiny and cannot be resized. The pity is that if it could be resized, the graphics are actually very nice.
Lost the Blu Ray remote a few weeks ago. That would really have been upsetting if it weren't for this app. Granted, it's not the most beautifully-designed app, but the important thing is, all the remote-control buttons are available and it works. Automatically detects compatible devices connected to the local network and accepts commands faster than the remote did. Now I wish I had this level of control over the rest of my A/V equipment! A word of caution: there are other official LG remote apps. Try them all before giving up on the idea. Different apps are designed for different LG products.
It would be so great the if app could find my blu ray player. But even though the phone is right next to the player, connected to the same router, The player is even connected to the phone via wi fi direct, and the app still can't find the player.
The app does not connect to my LG BH7420 HCS anymore, despite good WiFi connection (just days failed to connect). In addition, the sound it makes when pressing buttons is kind of annoying after a while and, as others have said, it only replicates functionality of the physical remote rather then expanding it (eg quick buttons to jump to functions such as HDMI or AUX, instead of cycling through).
The app is not connecting to my blue ray DVD player and of course I lost my remote. So I am unable to use this app until uts fixed.
LG has no app that works with their 3D blue ray player. I will have to stick with Samsung next time.
This app locates the blu ray player and shows the buttons. The buttons do nothing except make a sound. It cannot control the blu ray player that it finds😬
At first I couldn't get it to work, then it worked on my wife's phone, and I realized that I had to turn on her wifi. Once toggled my wifi off and on it worked fine, we both have motorola phones. Too bad there's no keyboard control otherwise it's great
It's so nice when I can't find my remote to have this app has saved me many times
This app would be 5* if there were a link to the Android keyboard. It has a '123' button for a number pad, so why not an 'abc' button for text? It makes no sense. In all other respects it's a great app for my HR922M smart PVR. The on-screen keyboard is outdated and awkward.
Weird thing is that it's so much faster than my regular control. But other than that, great app all around smooth and nice ui
Very happy with the app. Faster than standard battery remote. Works over wifi and only device that worked with my lg dvd player..
In the rate occasion that it does connect it is as good as the remote that came with the system. Unfortunately this is a rare occurrence. Summer, very unreliable. Uninstalling.
First and last time I buy an LG "Smart" product. This app along with everything else doesnt seem to work with the blu-ray.
Basically functional, but will not work with YouTube or Netflix. But I found my BP420 in a dumpster so I can't complain TOO much
Without the ability to use the Android keyboard for input, and this apps inability to control Netflix there isn't an advantage using this.
The biggest things I want from a "remote" app, is to have a keyboard and voice recognition. Searching through the bluray and tv letters on a d-pad is annoying.
Every time I try to move left or right on menu selections, it always jumps two instead of one rendering this app unusable. I'm uninstalling!
I prefer this to the supplied remote as that is point at device to work but with this app just tap the function and it works. Only negative is no keyboard to type in Netflix.
it works wonderful with apps like crackle an accu weather on my bp220. just doesn't seem too function with netflix or you tube i would really like to be able too use these services maybe an update would be helpful
Come on LG I'm sure you've got the money to spend 1 hour fixing this app.
After the last update, the app won't connect to my LG BluRay anymore. The lack of support for using the android keyboard for typing in searches, etc., is totally clownshoes. Is it too much to ask that the app perform all of the same functions as the physical remote?
Works with disc only. If you want to navigate premium apps for streaming, it's useless.
Just a month ago it worked great. But for some reason it quit. I'm uninstalling.
This has little benefit over the remote control. What would make it far better is keyboard functionality.
Works fine but does exactly what the regular remote does, should have keyboard for input the number pad works fine a keyboard would be the only reason to use this so unless i lose the remote or they add a keyboard doubt I'll use this
Glad i wasn't put off by the negative reviews! Works well with my bh6220 home dvd bluray player. Minimalistic design but gets the job done.
Won't even connect to my lg smart TV.
Navigating through my bp220 is flawless as well as blue ray movie playing is great (IMO better than remote) however once you open app such as Netflix and Pandora function fails. Can't even "sign in" on Netflix or choose a different channel on Pandora...please fix this. And keep up support for us poor people that can't afford a new player. Phone model is moto xt1050 and player is bp220
