Was one of the best... but.... lately even with the settings triple checked to ensure it is set to keep the screen on, it just does not. And then add a lack of what many consider 100% necessary Android Auto support and I will admit I have been using other map apps 95% of the time. Android Auto support is absolutely a must for any map app, I just cannot fathom why it was overlooked here.
Really cool app. It allows me to download state park maps, which are available for free, and use them to navigate around hiking trails in real-time so I can become more familiar with them. Very useful tool and makes it a lot less daunting to go to larger areas without having to worry about getting lost.
You can download AMC maps! Edit as of 05/08/2022: I've been using this on several 4000 footers in NH, and I definitely still recommend this app. It's a great additional tool for the physical map you should already have. It shows where you are on the map based on your phone's GPS. It also allows you to take notes by placing pins on the downloaded map. Also note: once a map is downloaded, the app works offline.
This is the best map app ever! I am not an expert by any means, but I do use them a lot, and this app is the closest thing to GPS you can get! Many features, too many to mention here! Try it you will like it! Of course, it costs to buy maps and get excellent functionality from the app itself but it's well worth the price. Try it free (I bet you buy it)
I wish there was a functio to search maps of a particular GPS coordinate. And then once downloaded have a search option just for maps that overlap with your current or a selected coordinate. Otherwise, great to use. Very helpful, and contains all Utah forestry maps, possible all of the US.
I highly recommend this app. Very intuitive and useful for my daily use in Forestry work. Love the new update they rolled out also. I will be switching from Android to iOS soon and hope the transition will be a smooth one. Pat
This is a very useful app. Lots of local state and local trails are available for free. It also was invaluable in getting a Nationally Geographic map after a last minute change in backpacking plans due to weather.
Not every map on the world is here, sometimes you have to download it yourself, but it always works. I use it all the time with the Connecticut DEEP park and forest trail maps and many of the land reserves in the area.
This was the hiking map so I've been looking for. It is free to have the app and test it out (there are a few free masks in my area). After verifying that it works without cell and data service I'm sold. Thank you for building this, it is great
Really really good, other than the shops search function, which is awful. It's necessary to search the publisher, then scroll their entire list of maps to find them. Searching the map name does not find the map.
It's a really good tool to fully exploit large scale maps, probably not much help for someone who just uses satnav/gps mapping. Interesting to use Avenza to view historical maps, to see how changed/unchanged a place can be.
Very useful app for traveling, camping, and hiking. I enjoy being able to get free maps too. My only complaint would be that I cannot store the App on my micro SD card and have it functional.
Since the new update, no matter what you do the screen will not stay on longer than your phone is set for in settings.. you can't get it to permanently stay on... also the map starts to shake like crazy after about 2mn of use...
I can say it works flawlessly in out of service zones. You can open the app while out of service, and it will put you on trail accurately. Many maps available. This is better than all trails free version, it wont bugger up where you are if you switch apps at all. Highly recc. Alberta, 🇨🇦
New redesign is clunky and removed some features. If I'm trying to make an aggregated point and have to turn the screen off because it's raining. It stops taking the point and wastes a shitload of my time. Honestly, I'm probably going to have to switch to using different software now.
Since the recent update, I haven't been able to upload any maps via QR code, the only reason I have the app, and actually something I count on them for. It only says "Error failed to process" I'd be very pleased with the new updated look otherwise!
Once I figured out how to save maps, works great. Like the upgrade to have unlimited maps. I like maps. Wish more were referenced.
I absolutely LOVE this app!!! We travel a lot and stay on people's property across the U.S. and I always download maps for the areas we are going to be in. I love checking out the older topo maps and seeing what I can find and it's really fun to show the property owners what used to be around. I've also found a cave that a property owner didn't know they had, super cool! I also use it for metal detecting to find good places to go! 10/10 this app is awesome!
